He was kicking weakened Guts' ass but Grunbeld got severely outmatched in his Giant form when he went against the unchained Hound of Darkness that is Berserker Guts. All of his human limiters were shattered by the armor's power and it gave him the ability to go toe-to-toe with Grunbeld in his Crystal Dragon Apostle form. The shock of the pain was so strong that part of his hair turned white because of the stress. That shot of the first look at the Slightly White Black Swordsman was absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks to Schierke's help, Guts had managed to find himself within the currents of power once again. It wouldn't have been possible for her to do such a thing and even escape intact without the help of the Mistress. It's nice to see that she's not truly dead after all but it's sad to know that those tranquil days are now over for the little witch.

Midland's a real mess and some really familiar faces showed up~ Foss is in for it when Griffith remembers who he was kek

Quite an enjoyable episode. I liked the fight scenes a lot. That ending really made me interested though.

That is one wicked suit of armour Guts got strapped to.

I've thought before that having Casca around isn't the best for revenge purposes, but having Guts defining his self as a protector points to a direction beyond revenge, points to hope. And with hope maybe recovery.

To me it's a crucial moment where the ambiguous prevalence of the revenge plot takes second place, and Miura lays out that Casca will have a role until the very end. And I guess as a branded survivor she should.

That aside, I feel a bunch of stuff has been skipped: does Flora just distract Grunbeld so they get away? does she harm him or more? End was a bit rushed imho.

While Guts looked cool in the Berserker armor, his fight against Grunbeld looked hmm... weird. Not great, not bad, not mediocre even, but somehow not fine either. I think it might be because of weird looking animated Grunbeld's CGI model or soemthing, dunno.
Apart from that, it was quite an enjoyable episode.
