Anyone familiar with the game or done a research on it?

Could you tell us how the story ends (if it ends) in the game?

Are there many endings?

And is there 1 "canon" ending if there's many?

Thanks!

Completely different. Pretty much nothing was the same.

The game story is basically different. There's a battle with Walpurgisnacht, Homura is involved in that battle. Nobody dies. Nemu didn't know the truth from the beginning in the game.

See the video and you'll know. The moth fight also ended well in game, and Ui minifested her true physical form.

Overall anime story is a failed version of game story. The people you were supposed to save ended up dying. Not all of them though
Madoka probably died since we see Homura turning back time.

Interesting...

I think a happy ending wouldn't have hurt this show. Though it's understandable why they'd choose the more dramatic ending. The upcoming 4th movie is the biggest reason I'd say. I mean, they wanted to make sure we know this is a failed timeline with Homura going back in time, but still, they didn't show how Walpurgisnacht ended anyways... If Madoka defeated Walpurgisnacht and then became a witch, the world will undoubtedly end and the fact that Iroha and others survived means nothing since they will all die very soon. No?
That is why I say they could've ended this particular spin-off on a much happier, hopeful note with a more open ending. Oh well...

I think they wanted to end the anime differently from game, so that people would go out and play the game or read about it to know more.

Only thing I don't understand is what happened to Walpurgisnacht, where did it go. It might have moved on like it always does. Walpurgisnacht is a strong witch but it only does damage to a city at max, while Kriemhild Gretchen destroys the whole planet. Pretty sure Madoka died in Magia Record Anime before she could witch out, just like other members of Holy Quintet.

Still, Magia Record anime is more canon than the game, since it implies Homura once lives in the MR timeline. According to game it's a separate timeline (or record).

From what I gather it was defeated. Presumably in some way that caused Madoka to die.
