| The twists and turns of this match and the play-by-play commentary is exceptionally compelling, no doubt more so because of the players involved and what this match means for both of them. I can wait. I think. |
| Arghhh...!! I caught up with the manga. Hold me, waiting gang. Haha, I play casual noob chess (rating 700) and I often meet with crazy freestyle players. I see myself as a more stiff player who wants to play a tidy game. But since I can't read the board yet (or more like I haven't put enough effort to study chess more), I'd often get panicked and destroyed by these aggressive players who aim for a quick game and trade pieces for fun. |

| The shogi they are playing is very interesting, but the key point that Umino is trying to convey is Rei's mental evolvement after beginning his relationship with Hina. He has become a more carefree player, "a jack Russell Terrier", as Nikaido has put it, and that's a reflection of his current life. I'm sure he still hates to lose, but he's not destroyed internally if he does, because at his core, no matter what happens, there's someone who has his back. The chapters lately ARE damn short, though! |
