On Crunchyroll it is added in the middle of the new seasons though. Should I watch it before starting season 2, or when crunchyroll tells me to watch it?

This is basically a prequel to Re zero and this does come into play a bit in understanding Emilia.I watched this in anticipation for Season 2 and while its only an hour long,I do think it explored her character pretty well and would recommend you to watch it.Its great though I wouldn't say its as good as the 2 seasons or the wholesome anime original AU?(you can correct me on this..) but I still recommend it.
Even if you dont watch it its alright but some important details related to Puck and Emilia's friendship is explored as well.
This really isnt a spoiler because well...it isnt..i think..

It’s not the end of the world if you don’t, it’s pretty crap. But it adds some insight into the world of Re: Zero and Emelia‘s past which may well be necessary in later seasons so I’d say you should watch it.

It’s not absolutely necessary, but there are some references to it in S2 and it’s a good watch, so I’d definitely recommend it.

I would recommend that you watch this atleast before part 2 of season 2 ,but before season. 2 also works, it gives some Essential information about Emilia's backstory which is brought up repeattedly in part 2 of season 2, so for clearer understanding of season 2,I would say watch it, also ,as a standalone,it's still pretty nice and entertaining I feel

No, You can directly jump to season 2 and after you finished watching it, you can come back and watch this movie later .

you dont need to but it does give background and add to puck and emilias characters and it also gives a couple more mysteries if thats something you want but it doesnt add much that would really enhance ur experience with s2

You don’t really NEED to, but it is still worth watching. It provides some backstory to Emilia’s character, and they do reference it in season 2.
