| I didn't like Akudama Drive so I'm not the best person to ask, but I'm liking Tribe Nine so far. The coolness is comparable, yes. Are you intrigued by a whacky sport such as futuristic street baseball (playing rough allowed), backed by a good EDM OST? If yes, give it a try. |

Not even close. Akudama Drive's particular style was mainly down to Pierrot's extra effort with environmental coordination, just look at any time they contrasted Kansai's darkness with spots of light just as an example, whilst Tribe Nine takes a distinctly flatter approach, barely even being shaded right most of the time. Then you've got the fact that whilst AD was made to stand on its own two feet as a complete story, TN is just to promote a gacha game. You may as well not bother, it's barely even recognisable as a Kodaka work. |

| Akudama Drive is better in terms of writing, but Tribe Nine takes a lot of the more enjoyable strengths of Akudama Drive and manages to be a pretty fun show |

I disagree with this way of thinking and I like to focus on what makes Tribe Nine good (the fun sport and the ost). |

| quite frankly, this show is a dumpster fire. the only fun of it is watching Funimation (and the other investors) money burn to ashes. visually it's bland and generic. once you see the first episode's designs, expect nothing new out of the next two. unless the hair is specifically animated, like somebody rubs their head, everybody has 'Yugioh hair' frozen in time and space on everybody's head. even the chick with the two giant pigtails... they're basically two monstrous spikes shoved into the sides of her head. the story is bland, generic, and basically a rip-off of nigh-on any or every baseball anime ever made. the screenwriters took a baseball anime and tarted it up with sci-fi elements and shonen 'thug/delinquent/street gang' fights. if this is the advertisement anime for a game? Build Divide and Scarlet Nexus and Deep Insanity were better. Funimation should have never wasted their money on this show. |

So you're admittedly allowing your mind to be guided by what's the common opinion of something instead of analysing for yourself what's the objective quality of the series? Akudama Drive is bad because there are too many pointless deaths, too much transhumanism, and the ending just made everything worse by revealing that the characters were inside some kind of computer. In Tribe Nine the characters are a lot more human, the main characters are a lot more well developed from beginning to end instead of just dying all of a sudden, their designs are a lot more uniquely interesting, reminding a lot more Danganronpa, and all the story occurs in an actual physical reality, so there's more reason to care about what's going on, unlike in Akudama Drive, in which the world is already too much fucked up for anything to really matter anymore. |

I never judge shows based on score, but the score does help me decide if i want to give a show a chance or not. so if a show has a low rating, I would look for a reason for why it is lowly rated before watching it. as an example, Pet has a low rating because it's first half is confusing and boring which made it have a high drop rate. godizlla sp is lowly rated because it was marketed as a godzilla anime, but it turned out to be a heavy sci-fi that godzilla just happened to be in it. I could use more examples but you get the point. i was just trying to see if this one is worth my time. now what you said about akudama drive is funny, simply because "one of the worst anime series ever made", would be way, way, way too big of an insult even if i DID agree with your issues. now, i don't agree, but even if i did, that phrasing is still hilariously exaggerated. so why don't I agree? because you missed the god damn point of the show. firstly, the characters weren't inside a computer, You are either misremembering or didn't understand that plot point. there is a city of people who live inside a computer, but the characters aren't in it. second, no shit sherlock that's the point. I'm not going to argue about the characters designs since that is simply just your taste, but i will fight you on the rest. Akudama drive is not aiming to be what you are criticizing it for not being. the show was meant to be mad, fun, extreme, fast and cool. the show never tried to be realistic, it tried to be the exact opposite, which is EXTREME. and the deaths were not pointless, every death completed a character ark. brawler died doing what he lived for, in a brawl with a worthy opponent. the mc died while finally becoming the swindler and the courier died after delivering his final package. all of the death, perfectly completed their given characters' character ark, and that is not pointless. I understand why you don't like it, but if you want that opinion to be something objective, you need to give me reasons way better than what you gave me. |
