| The romance of the show was very well done. I was very attached to Mafuyu and Uenoyama. Besides the romance I thought the guitars and sound design were really good. The only thing I didn't like was the animation, it was noticeably stiff sometimes but I didn't really mind. |

| It was actually Yuki for me. The story holds a really special place in my heart. Dealing with loss, guilt, trauma, I could relate to a lot of it, especially the loss. The memory at the beach of Yuki telling Mafuyu that he’ll forget him maybe not in 5 years, maybe in 10, and it’s clear that Mafuyu will never forget him now. It was a really moving & emotional scene for me. The other couples’ relationship too, I liked how realistic & flawed the characters are in their relationships. I know a lot of people (even manga readers) brush off the other couples but I like them all. My favourite couple is not even Mafuyu & Uenoyama. I also love the manga so much. Of course the anime with the music is amazing, but if you loved the anime do read the mangaโก |

When that scene happened, I completely lost it… and it was when I went from, “this show is pretty good” to “oh my god this show is so important and I feel lucky to have experienced it.” The way it given deals with trauma and the reality of love, and loss was just everything, really. To tie in with that, something about the dialogue was just so real. Almost as if I was in a room with the cast instead of watching them as characters on the screen. So that absolutely elevated it for me as well. But the biggest thing was just how it didn’t shy away from examining trauma, and emotional pain. That, coupled with the amazing musical moments, made it a show I’ll treasure forever. <3 |

| I give a 10. Not because is a masterpiece, was mostly because it's the kind of gay romance that we need in the anime, and also the performance of Mafuyu was so beautiful. |
| I gave it a 6. I thought the romance was boring/poorly developed, and they had no chemistry. Haruki and Akihiko did, but…not gonna continue that thought. I also thought the scenario writing was pretty bad, not that it was the anime’s fault. I also wasn’t sure whether I was chill with how one part of Yuki’s backstory was handled (I thought it was too melodramatic, and I was like ??? would this actually happen irl. I needed more context about Yuki to make it make sense, but it was not given to me, so it didn’t hit me hard at all). Again, not the anime’s fault. The humor and the music are what saved it for me. The songs are the best I’ve ever heard from an anime. That one scene didn’t make me cry; it made my mouth drop open because I was shocked by how good the song was. That’s a sign that I wasn’t emotionally invested in…anything but the music, I guess. I honestly enjoyed it more on the second watch with my sister, when I wasn’t taking it so seriously. She 100% agreed with me without even having known why this was meh for me lol. She had to make herself not think about how non-compelling the romance was to enjoy it, since she thought Mafuyu’s relationship with Yuki was way better done than his with Ritsuka. I have read a ton of BL, so my standards are insanely high… this could’ve been amazing, but it wasn’t for REALLY stupid reasons, so I was mostly just disappointed. Like, there are shows where the main ship doesn’t even get together, and even they have a more compelling relationship than Mafuyu and Ritsuka… Honestly, if you took the romance out (or just changed their entire dynamic), kept the Yuki backstory with maybe a few alterations, made Mafuyu’s songwriting process more realistic (I have several different ideas for this as a songwriter myself), and ignored the existence of the movie and OVA, this would have been at least an 8 for me. |
