| Haven't seen any mecha anime before (unless you count Magic Knight Rayearth, I watched like one ep of it and I'm still reading the manga)... so here goes! This episode was delightfully weird and well-animated. Amazing that an anime from 2000 has extremely watchable animation compared to the animation quality of a lot of anime nowadays... makes me wonder what the hell happened that made the industry not have so much budget. Anyway anyway anyway, there's some fanservicey bits/lines here and there, but I've seen much much worse so thankfully it was digestable somehow. The humor, especially when it comes to Marin's fantasies is pretty... interesting. I like Marin already and the action was pretty awesome :) Judging by this first episode and the fact that there are various recommendations to notably mature magical girl anime (Madoka Magica, Uta Kata, Mai-Hime, Yuki Yuna, Flip Flappers, Lyrical Nanoha), something tells me I'm in for a wild ride lol |

| Brigadoon sure started off weird and wacky. Lots of humour, most of which doesn't hit and some of which I expect to be reused throughout the series (Here's looking at you Marin's dream/bones gag). This is giving off Narutaru vibes to me. They are probably nothing alike, but I just got that feeling. Marin is kinda adorable and awfully energetic. A lot more panty shots than I was expecting. I just wish they weren't old ragged panties tho, lol. It'll be interesting to see what kind of Monomakia this show can come up with. That first one -the Daruma looking one- had a simple, but effective design and Melan himself looked decent enough, even though the human-like body shape is kinda odd and peculiar. |

| well shit. i always knew i was attracted to mechas and robots possessing humanoid qualities, but now is not the time to start. shit. i'm surprised the mc isn't 9 years old or something. the humor is annoying and repetitive it seems, but i did end up laughing on the bicycle chase scene after rewinding and muttering about how idiotic it was. touché. |
