That dolphin costume is just too adorable! I love how they're able to get the audience or their fans involved with aquatic life with their creativity. Fuka also got quite curious about helping out sea turtles in need. Even as one of the final few episodes, I see this anime is actively showing how much the cast cares about their work and aquatic life. |

Well looks like the girls might be apart for a while and i wonder how that will turn out. Fuuka did a great presentation tho, and the cause of the aquarium is good. We have to stop using plastic on a massive scale that stuff is so harmful for everything around us including ourselves, i really hope we will find more alternatives that can replace plastics. |

The USTD project is very interesting and a great project. We all should be concerned about marine pollution. That's it, as expected. Kukuru has decided to stay in the marketing department. Karin could be the one who transfers instead. Two years are not that long. Especially with today's communication technologies, Fuuka and Kukuru can use them to contact each other all the time. The final episode could end when Fuuka comes back from Hawaii and meets Kukuru again. |

So Fuuka gonna train in Hawaii and as expected Kukuru will stay in the sales department. We'll prolly get a 2 year timeskip next episode or I hope we do cause I wanna see them all together again in the finale. Unless they plan to show that on a movie that is. That said just one more episode to go. Thursday nights will be lonely without this anime. |

All that plastic in our oceans is a very serious problem. We really should stop destroying our precious home planet. I think the girls made the right choices. I'm happy for them. :) Well, hopefully we are going to get a nice and touching finale. I guess there will be a timeskip. These starry night skies in this show are always so beautiful and detailed. Nice jump, Ban-chan! :) The moment, when Fuuka tripped over in her dolphin suit was so cute. |

Thanks to this episode, instead of buying two plastic straws every week, im gonna buy three plastic straws every week, cuz fuck em. Now, back to actually important stuff. The creators of this show trully know their audience they aiming this at, they again are baiting with the "Oh no, they are going to be separated, what am i supposed to do with my life now, NOOOO" shit drama. We all know it's again, the same case as the last time, when they back together the next episode. Next week's last episode can literally bring anything, it won't change the fact hat this show turned really hard into all the wrong directions, from chasing one's dream to a working environment to Kukuru's second puberty swallongin the entirety of the show. I'm not mad, i'm just a little bit of disappointed. Like dude, they literally have a show about a see life and only in the second last episode they remembered, "Oh, lets do some activism for a healthier oceans", like who wrote the script for this, and when did he woke up. |

Aquatope is indeed something that will be useful to them. Its goals though are also things that i will support as well. The insight into Suwa's past though wa pretty interesting as i had pegged him as someone that only cared about balancing the finances while caring little about the animals housed there. The opportunity to learn at the new facility though sure created some interesting competition among the team though. The presentations were pretty interesting though and featured a nice variety of topics that were covered. Fuka's dolphin costume really was adorable. Though it can be hard sometimes to improve ourselves we must separate from those dearest to us and learn new knowledge by ourselves. Though they may be now on separate paths their bond as ever remains unbreakable. Curious how this will end next week but really looking forward to it. |

Someone please tell me if I'm seeing this wrong, but Aquatope at this stage is just unsalvageable with this penultimate episode's tone for the finale episode next week. Tingarla Aquarium goes full-on with this Aquatope environmental issue rhythm, and that's a good thing for people to study about marine life, and simultaneously the learning lesson of the entire show. The thing is, only 2 people will be part of this new crew that's training in Hawaii for 2 years, and both Kukuru and Fuuka at their own crossroads of transitions. But I feel that diving into Suwa's too simple of a backstory now as someone whom worked with a run-down aquarium, only for his second stint in Tingarla to be not the same thing, just shows that they didn't really need to add Suwa in, but include him for drama to get Kukuru more mature, I'd guess. Just feeling very stumped about his inclusion. Fuuka has pretty much chosen what she wants to do with the USTD Aquatope Project, and is working pretty hard on making that dream happen for herself. Using the dolphin Ban-chan as means of her presentation, she did her best at incorporating the younger generation into getting them to be aware of marine life. It's for this reason that Director Akira also thinks the same way, that she's chosen. The problem with the Yuri-ness is that both Fuuka and Kukuru are too attached to each other, like Fuuka forgoing her chance to go overseas and Kukuru staying in Marketing instead of being an attendant. It was good then, but certainly not now. Swagernator said: Yeah, I feel the same way too. The story was perfect for the 1st half, only for the 2nd half to bail hard into directions left and right with no clear direction that leaves me wondering where will be the end point of all of this. Thanks to this episode, instead of buying two plastic straws every week, im gonna buy three plastic straws every week, cuz fuck em. Fuuka's off to an overseas training for two years now, with Kukuru deciding to stay at the sales department itself, well after all that whining and her clearly evident enthusiasm to be a caretaker throughout the series, this decision took me by surprise but well anyways atleast she moved on. So with that just one more to go now. |

glad to finally see some character growth from kukuru; she decided to stay in marketing instead of falling back to being an attendant again and getting rid of all the progress shes made. so fuuka was picked to spend 2 years in Hawaii studying environmental issues. i wonder if next episode will be wishing her off or possibly a time skip to when she comes back. with one more episode left I feel like things are starting to resolve and wind down. looking forward to next week. |

I laughed at the beginning about naming the thing USTD, thinking if was "Underwater STD" "Aquatope, that's the name of the series!", "Wow, wow, wow." Now that Kukuru marketing arc is over, the boss will tone down and wont look like a black company. PSA continues. |

damn kukuru putting others desires over her own, which I guess is some development in itself Nice to see Fuuka having a clear goal now, even though she's practically been invisible this 2nd half (I honestly wished they focused more on her story than kukuru's tbh) but hey at least the lsd trips returned albeit just a short teaser maybe the full thing will come next ep lol imagine no kids showed up for Fuuka's presentation that would be awkward as fuk the_joe said: next episode timeskip a year Fuuka comes back pregnant Kai and pregnant Kukuru greets her You gonna get Abe'd. The assistant director's backstory is whatever, just an excuse for Kukuru to relate to him and stay in the marketing team. When the director said that 2 people would be chosen for the project I got excited because I thought it would be Kukuru and Fuuka only to end up sad because they will end up getting separated. Fuuka's presentation was great though, what a cute dolphin <3. It was hilarious when she tripped haha. It's been a while but it looks like the supernatural is back! One last trippy ride (handholding ending included) before parting ways. Only one episode left, I wonder how this will end. Possible timeskip? |

It felt fitting for Fuuka to wear a dolphin outfit AND to trip over while running in one, too! XD Either way, this episode centered on this USTD project and the importance and health of the marine ecosystem and Fuuka, aside from how cute she looked while wearing the dolphin outfit, did a stellar job in her move to take on this new role, which does involve a two year study in Hawaii. That does mean that she'll be away from Kukuru again, which made her feel worried and scared. I felt that the show came full circle with these two here, from how Kukuru helped Fukka during the first half, then Fuuka being there for Kukuru during her marketing struggles in the second half until now. Speaking of which, Kukuru has decided to stay on in her marketing job with renewed determination. The small backstory of Suwa and his guilt for not being able to save an aquarium from going under was interesting, but it felt a little late to introduce that now to alter my opinion of him. It does make his choices and actions more understandable, even though he's still an arse half of the time, much like a lot of bosses IRL. =P I'm glad that we got the supernatural vision returning for one last hurrah with Kukuru, Fuuka and the dolphin together, which made for a nice moment between the two. I think a timeskip for the final episode is pretty much guaranteed now, so I do look forward to seeing how things will go for our main girls and the others of Tingarla. =) |

I will agree with the general sentiment of various posters in this thread that the second half of aquatope lost its sense of direction. It didn't seem to go anywhere although the characters and sea life was charming enough to make it a worthwhile watch for those reasons alone. The final scene with Fuuka and Kukuru having a get together in the beach was touching and it would seem they will separate once more. But with the technology we have these days this should be easier to deal with. I do think there will be a time-skip early on in the final episode as the reunion has to happen. Not really sure how they end is this with a good sense of closure. Season 2 perhaps? As for Suwa, I think his backstory seemed like it was thrown in as more an afterthought. Doesn't really excuse his cold demeanour and his poor leadership style shown previously. It seems he was just inserted as a source of drama or a prop to aid Kukuru's character development. |

This episode was contrived AF. Kukuru kept whinning because marketing job was too hard. Now she's got the opportunity to finally get into the attendand enviroment she wanted for so long, but just because of a single success with the wedding lady, now she thinks she will do a better job taking care of the sea life in a position she loathes, with a boss that treats her like dirt (because though love triumphs all in anime logic) and she won't see her dear Choco and all the other animals. This felt like it was written by a corporate that wants his/her underlings to suck it up and find the joy in a position that it's just devoiding of all life. Fuuka was also quite terrible. She has always been the more grown up girl in this friendship and now suddenly she claims she's the one that needs Kukuru by her side? This reminds me of that time that Homer was kicked out by Marge and he came back begging for forgiveness and claiming that their relationship is based on Marge being the dependable person in the relationship. That just sounds awful no matter what. Also, how the heck did Fuuka won the corps over Kaoru's or Higa's presentation? It felt so amateurish and childish, and their reasoning of "because she's making the kids question themselves" was just very poor reasoning. And of course the deus Ex hallucinations make a comeback after being a bunch of nothing with no actual explanation back in cour 1. Glad there's only one episode left so I can just chalk it up as another waste of a seasonal. |

When all is said and done, I'm giving this thing a 3 in rating because the only positives It had was the overall consistent animation. The setting had potential but is all shit. Some of the themes are alright (growing up and whatnot), but I just can't ignore the hypocrisy of talking about plastic waste when Japan produces a stupid amount of plastic, most of which can't even be recycled and this marvel. My bitching aside about the green issues (which are fine, is just terrible they want to use them as another tool to further elevate Kukuru and Fuuka and create dumb drama. Nothing in this series felt genuine, all felt artificial. Even their dumb friendship), I can't be the only one who thought how forced (and bullshit) It was they gave Fuuka that position instead to actually qualified people because children liked it or whatever. What exactly is the logic in letting an ex idol who literally got into this shit on a whim after also quitting her previous job/dream on a whim when you have capable young people ready to do a better job? Yeah, sure, kids are the "future", but waiting over a decade for one of them to maybe pick something related to marine biology is dumb af when you have the folks for the job. If the logic is "but she a people person" that's even dumber because I have yet to meet someone who isn't passionate about the stuff they like to not be able to properly explain it to the common layman. Kimurah said: This episode was contrived AF. Kukuru kept whinning because marketing job was too hard. Glad there's only one episode left so I can just chalk it up as another waste of a seasonal. Most of the series is contrived. Pay attention: The "friendship" between Kukuru and Fuuka was always messed up. Fuuka is a tool and likes to be subservient to others to feel good about herself (idfk why, but she kinda confesses to this like two episodes ago and now she owns up to it). It's always been there, is just that they made it extra obvious this episode for drama. Basically they have a weird emotional crutch dependance on one another. Well, had, apparently Kukuru was always good on her own, she just had a lot on her plate at the beginning and now she is fine. The thing about Kukuru's job deal is basically another symbol of her growing up. She didn't have a "single success" lol she is been doing rather well, is just that she was stuck in wanting things that were familiar to her (being a kid) and a new thing that was quite literally what she wanted since episode 1 (growing up). Hell, she even came to terms with her new job and realized is exactly what she wanted. She can see the other animals idk what you are talking about LOL just because she is in marketing doesn't mean she can't visit them, as literally shown this ep. Again, pay attention lmaoo But yeah, is a bad show LOL |

I enjoyed this episode and I’m sure most people were not surprised to hear that Kukuru had decided to stay in the sales department. The last episode should most likely be everyone saying goodbye to Fuuka and Kaoru. What a mixed bag of conclusions. On one hand I'm glad that Fuuka is going on the Aquatope project as it shows how much effort she'd put in her new career path since her idol days, but then we have Kukuru staying in the GODDAMN MARKETING TEAM coz she suddenly liked it after one successful venture with the wedding planner??? NOOOO WAY THEY REALLY SEPARATING KUKURU AND FUUKA???? damn.. never would've seen that coming. i hope we can get a proper view on how they're doing without each other, not just a 2/3 year timeskip for them to open their own aquarium or something. not that i dislike that idea completely though would be nice if this anime was a fundraiser for marine life or will use some of their profit to donate but just telling a good story about it is enough i think. really cool |

I wasn't expecting Fuuka to win the presentation to be honest, but it was also good to let children be aware of the sea life problem and let them solve in the future :) Kukuru should not waste anymore time being in a position she hates just because of one success and take the opportunity to transfer back to be an attendant. What in the world is she doing?? I would take it if I were her >_< Her passion does not belong in Marketing :/ Oh well, next week will be the last one and I'm curious to see what happens, even if I'm sad to know they will separate once again. |

Not happy with either of these resolutions. Kukuru's boss' backstory really did nothing to bridge their incompatibility, and despite all the time we took on it I don't see any particular development that makes the marketing job good for her. Meanwhile Fuuka's ramping the suspension of disbelief. It was already super questionable she got a job with the penguins given her extremely limited experience. Do they really need to double down putting this much resource into someone without any of the education? |

So, Tingaara really opening up a new section or a project under their care? Just how much the director want to fill up his dream? I think many more will coming up, as long as there's a solid people like that grumpy assistant director, and, Plankton. As they hint before, now its about time to talk about the ocean environmental issue, and for sure the one that have a chance to explore more about that section was, Fuuka. Idk whose the one they choose beside Fuuka, i really hope that dude got that ticket. But, y'know everything was not ended up as smooth as you want. Damn, she said it, she actually was the one that needed her, not the opposite when Kukuru already trying to be mature against the whole job problematic. Good thing that the nice kiddo dolphin bringin them up to the whole oceanic dream, to rest assure, that everything will just be okay, with Kukuru being your oneesan.... That's it, another farewell end, just like the end of first cour. So, with that setting up, i am kinda suggest that there's a big chance they might've continuing their journey to the best ocean works, for the future season, however years its needs. |

I love how they finally tied the character of the manager, it was kind of needed in order to express his perspective and reinforce the Kukuru's decision, which was telegraphed anyways because otherwise the conflict wouldnt exist. The Hawaii's shit was kind of bullshit though, I would be mad as fuck if I get snubbed out of a position by someone who just got through networking lmao The throwback to the supernatural stuff was also quite nostalgic, kind of corny though I'm intrigued about the next episode, will it be a timeskip? Dont see anything of value left. As of now, I think that the late part of the show is decent compared to the mid part which was ass. The Kukuru's development took way too much screentime for my liking, and it was redundant, with simplistic resolutions that fell flat |

Honestly, this show has gotten so much worse and I'm only still here to see how they wrap this up. There are so many illogical conveniences (especially in the last few episodes) that it really makes this show hard to enjoy. The story feels like it tripped over itself trying to make extra drama for the girls to be angsty over. At this point, I just want to know what the deal was with that weird, God-like thing was at the shrine Kukuru kept leaving fish heads at. It seemed like that character was intended to have an important role, but it was never addressed and the writers just kind of forgot about it. |
