Ive only read 5 chapters of the spinoff because I was too busy. But so far I know that Mary will be the MC instead of Yumiko.

Let's just hope Netflix actually releases episodes on schedule then. They've gotten better recently.

Nope this a prequel, it takes place 1 year before Yumeko is transferred to the academy

Right now, There are not enough mangas. Basically The anime takes around five Mangas (which is around ten episodes) and then the anime makes the last two episodes there own story not from the manga. Right now, there are 13 Ones Released popularly in America and the 14 came out pretty recently. So recent in fact that its not released in America bcs it doesn't have an English translation yet. So we need to wait for that and manga number 15. But let me tell you, ITS WORTH THE WAIT The next Mangas are Amazing. Also yes we will get more backstop of The side characters other than yumeko bcs the manga takes event before yumeko comes.
