The amnesiac Minato really got chased up and down, until Chinu Kawakubo (the girl who gave his an abrupt kiss) caught up onto him and started spewing the romance advancements of the old Minato in a promise and a bet. But eventually Minato gave into applying for the Water Polo team that's part of the bet with her, because how can you pay 110,000 yen if you lose a bet in multipliers.

Regardless, this is just the first step to Minato's rehabilitation recovery...that he got totally mistaken as a water polo prodigy by Captain Jo. What a hoopla around the school for using a former genius and champion player...except for some people: the tall Nigerian-Japanese Yutaka Babayaro Inomata and the soft-spoken Yoshiharu Ushimado stayed around, so that makes 5 for the water polo team...with the pool which has been unused for quite sometime and covered to preserve the warm condition. It must've been hard on Jo to do everything by himself as the sole captain to recruit people, 7 guys to complete a team.

Hmm, red-haired Ejiri Takekazu just wheezed in just like that and inching for a challenge, and Eitarou jumped on that underestimation gun for a PK friendly with Minato as shooter and both Ejiri and Jo as (goal)keeper to showcase their skills. It's gonna take a lot for these boys who've been suffering out of confidence in one way or another in their past to overcome their struggles together, now a 6-man team. Only 1 more guy to find, and that will complete the main team.

Still in the development process...

The infamous OH MY GAH made its way here as well. LOL. Chinu is a cute girl. Minato is lucky that he even got a kiss from one of the best in the game. Minato decided to join the Water Polo team finally because of the bet with Chinu.

We also some new characters in the show and the ones who are going to join the Water Polo Team and gonna be Minato's teammates. I feel bad for Minato sometimes tho. It can be really hard when someone expects so much from you but good thing is that he doesn't take this to his head. They really went in with who's gonna be the keeper of the team between the new guy and the Senpai but at least Minato got the feel of what it feels like to play in the water. We just need one more player is needed to fill the seven-man team.

I enjoyed this episode much more than the first one but I'm still not completely sold just yet. Looking forward to more.

Not for the family, but for a girl anything hahah

And what do his friend" do? Like they know perfectly well that he's lost his memory, why would they do that...
I also wonder the point of putting children's drawings to narrate something 0-0

It has its good points when they focus only on water polo, it's the only thing I like at the moment

I hope there'll be many more season of Remain

But I don't want my boy to go on date with that girl, so I've a mix feeling if I want them to win a championship or not. I hope this club change Minato's sexual orientation.

The water polo aspect was probably the best part of the episode. The animation in the water polo... was kinda bland but it does enough for now. I liked the last part of the episode when the captain just said "i dont wanna play alone anymore", its a simple line but it works. I hate the mc and the girl tho, god dam. The mc makes way to many jokes in serious moments and it just breaks the flow completely and the girl is just kinda of a dick right now (like when she said "you weren´t like this before", Well no shit Sherlock, he just lost his memory wtf)

I think it's more that Minato doesn't have the money to give Chinu, not that he wants to date her. Since he lost the bet and has to pay up. But since he doesn't have the money and it's not really something he'd be able to easily explain to his parents, he's taking up polo to win the bet

Really enjoyed the parts they showed when they were actually in the pool - v happy that MAPPA did a good job with animating, especially the swimming and eggbeater movements! Can't wait to see more pool-action :D really makes me want to jump into the pool rn and play a match ahhh

That girl, Chinu, has future if she decides to work as debt collector, lol. So far I'm liking this, Minato has a valid reason to compete, they almost set up a team, they just need the guy that appeared at the end and they're ready to go.

Hm that's true...I do hope they focus on the polo side of things and Minato getting back into his groove instead of romance :/ also the fact that there's only 12 eps means there's not a lot of screentime...

ah silly me for expecting there to be actual romance in a sports series like this lol, but at least it wasn't too bad a reason to bring the MC back into the sport. Though something tells me she's either incredibly gap moe or she only cares about MC's status rather than MC himself

anywho have to say one thing kyoani has got MAPPA beat is in the classic muscle design huehuehuehue. Regardless it seems the main 7 are already almost established, and already it seems like each one has their tragic past loool

The team seems pretty cool... except Oka who is annoying me so much already. Like, dude - Minato was in a 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 car accident that left him in a coma for months and gave him amnesia, of course he isn't a ripped af star water polo player anymore! Oka should just be happy that he wants to play again!

Pretty nice episode.

His reason for joining the club again might feel a little tacked on especially with the whole 'deal' with Chinu but I suppose it isn't the kind of show where something like that matters.

The direction seems good for the sports part, I suppose we'll know when we get to an actual match on where it really stands.

So he joined the water polo club because of the promise he made back then..
The opening is pretty amazing..

Baba and the other guy are really mysterious lol and both are hella weird xD
The club is finally coming along, 3 new members..

It seems like every member of the club struggled with something. Lmao their last potential member joined the track team..

The animation whenever they're in the water is beautiful.

It was an OK episode but so far it's kind of average. I did not like Chinu or Oka because they apparently missed the fact that Minato was in a coma and lost years of his memories and has the mental capacity of a 6th grader and yet they treat him as if nothng happened. They did not make a great impression. I hope they get some development otherwise they will be boring characters. The same goes for the others because 12 episodes is not enough for who knows how many characters there are to get enough screen time.

So boy wakes up from a coma with no memories of his middle school life; decides to quit his sport activity / hobby as he doesnt remember anything about it due to the trauma, being out of shape, just wants to live a normal life; but then suddenly decides to rejoin the sport JUST BECAUSE a cute girl says "you owe me $2,000 if you dont, even though you dont remember the bet you made"
good story writing.

I really like episode 1, but not really digging episode 2.

Simply put, too many "jokes" that didn't really vibe with me. I rated episode 1 high, because it had its funny moments, but also didn't forget to include the serious part about the accident/amnesia. This episode felt like they were just trying to be funny, but without substance.

Hopefully the side characters past will bring more of a serious tone to the story (and hopefully they play actual water polo)

Honestly not that impressed this epidofr. The whole memory loss seemed super contrived and unbelievable already and the second episode is making my impression of this anime worse. The MC is bland and makes way too much unfunny jokes during serious moments, the characters aren't that impressive, and their chemistry is mediocre at best. The comedy is weak, the directing is simple and the narrative is weakly structured as well. I don't really see Re- Main getting better, considering it has 10 episodes left.

Let's see as far as tropes go we've got the Estatic and talented captain, The tough guy that got kicked of another team, the nerdy kid who knows all about the sport and has never played, The foreign kid, and the kid who never talks. Now all we need is the try hard kid and the tsundere love interest of the main character that follows the team just as an excuse to see her I don't like you Baka, Boyfriend in action and we'll be all set. All jokes aside I do like this show so far and I'm interested to see how water polo is played. I also need my seasonal fix of high school club anime.

Forget Me Not OP is so fucking good I’ve been playing it on repeat ever since last week. Love it so much!!!!!

Minato is so endearing!!!!! I’m rooting for him. I wish they would be more considerate of him too & not put unneeded pressure on him. It’s definitely not easy for him. The spectacles boy thinking that Minato looked like he’s been in his worst state yet bruV are you 12 duh??????? He’s been in a fucking coma????? Jesus lol

Yutaka is so cute. And oh my god Furukawa Makoto’s character is so hot. But a total clown. But still so hot. They are actually all such dorks I love it.

The scenes where they were in the water looked great. It’s quite ironic how the animation was pretty stiff until they got in the water, guess that’s where the budget went lololllll & rightfully & fittingly so. The ED looked good too.

This is weak. The story is too weak.

Minato joined the club, not because he wanted to, but because he was made to. So, no matter what progress he makes, it wouldn't be inspiring since he isn't doing what he wants to.

Minato also fell for a girl that he'd seen once! Just once! I already dislike him. Being attracted to her would make sense. Fantasizing might also make sense. But, he-

Ejiri also wasn't motivating at all. He was boring. The only thing I liked about him was that he had no skills. I don't like people who look down on something being shown as being good at that thing.

Siblings argue and quarrel a lot. But, the siblings' quarrel here didn't feel real. It wasn't authentic. At all. Looking at siblings fight is usually funny. The way they have prepared themselves for every comeback because of the number of times they've heard it. Or the way they bring their parents into the fight and have them take sides. And just being petty in general. This anime is missing all of it!

I had assumed Minato was acting idiotic because of his memory loss, but it's starting to look like he wasn't much different even before the accident. What a waste! Such a cute face is attached to an idiot!

Eitarou is also annoying me. What is wrong with him! It annoys me how he has such high expectations from someone who had had a serious accident. He needs to learn to be more compassionate. And, the 'learn' part is important since that would show character development. If he randomly shows compassion later, it would mean he didn't show compassion here even when he could have. That would just make him someone who chose to be a jerk.

Even the animation wasn't MAPPA quality!

You would think he would be sympathetic to Minato because he was in an accident, was in a coma, and has the mental capactiy of a 6th grader but nope. Already he and Chinu are my least favorite characters.

Man everyone is a such a jerk to the MC in this show. You think they'd be a little more sensitive to him. He was in a comma for months, his muscled atrophied and he had to do rehab just to able to walk again and they all are just expecting him to remember everything and play just like he used to.

Writing was kind of a mess this episode. Minato's reason to join the Waterpolo club was lame as hell and I'm currently hating how everyone, despite knowing about the car accident and the coma he went through, still express their disappointment towards MC for not being as involved with the sport as he used to be. Particularly, Joujima deserves a punch in the mouth for using Minato's previous fame to gain members while putting unnecessary pressure on the poor dude and the same goes for both Oka and that Chinu girl for being insensitive jerks as well.

Animation in water was good wasnt anything fancy I liked that. But like nobody sucks that much at playing water polo for their first time. I understand the egg beater for some people that takes a practice or two but the shooting aspect any kid ive ever seen could shoot a decent ball. I know its for the story and anyhow it gave me a chuckle to see something like that. Definitely did not expect that horrible of a shot.

Re-Main is far better than I expected. I don't know how MAPPA manage to make so many anime at the same time while retaining high quality; did they hire more animators for their (alleged) "sweatshop" or do they outsource 80 - 90% of the animation to other studios and freelancers? Anyway, somehow they make it work, but I'm afraid they are running themselves thin either way..

I used to avoid sports anime because I thought they were boring, but then I watched Yuri!!! on Ice (also from MAPPA). After that I got hooked and now I'm not biased against sports anime at all. The recent Bakuten!! (oddly not of MAPPA) was also very good but I got pissed that they are going to complete the story with a theatrical release that we are going to watch in 8 - 10 months.. :/

Anyway, back to Re-Main. I found its concept very interesting and quite original. I knew Minato was going to start Water Polo again, but I never expected it was going to happen as the result of a supposed bet with a beautiful teenage girl. Yeah, "supposed". Minato has lost his memory of the last 3 years so since his supposed bet with Chinu was purely oral and with no third party witnessing it she can claim whatever the hell she wants. Not just 220,000 yen but even 2 or 5 million yen. The only way Minato can accept this bet is by trusting her, i.e. trusting someone he does't even know.

The first half of the bet might be real but it certainly looked like the second half was fictional, conjured by Chinu in order to motivate Minato to start water polo again - and maybe also challenge him to date her, since it was part of the deal. Well, since it worked I'm fine with it either way. Even if Chinu was sent by his old water polo team-mates to motivate Minato I'm still OK. It doesn't look like Chinu really wants to fleece Minato, she just uses the money to motivate him (but I think she does want to date him).

Much better than the first episode. Nothing wrong with the first episode but this is where I can really feel the potential coming out with character moments.

Sports series can excel when it comes to characters and joujima's flashback of how he revived the club and eijiri's mini baseball flashback were pretty amazing. I respect joujima lots now

It's a shame that he didn't get his memories back after going back in the water but it's to be expected. Also, the meaning of that kiss was pretty strange lol. It was a massive improvement

This was a really nice episode.

New characters introduced, the half Nigerian one seems really kind and the other one's volume is too low XD I was quickly reminded of Suo-san from Chihayafuru.

I could relate to the red haired guy on some personal level so kinda teared up there.

I thought the pool would be too dirty and all the members would clean it together like what happened in Free, I was really touched after hearing that Jojima actually cleaned the pool daily and practiced all alone and didn't give up even tho no one joined the club. But now they can finally play and might as well participate in competitions.

Jojima is such a fun character, perfect for Kimura Subaru.
