I find the anime a bit confusing as my IQ is only 81. Are the Moriarty's meant to be good or evil?

They do evil deeds in the name of good, like killing corrupt aristocrats. In the public eye, they might be seen as evil because the public doesn’t know the full story, but to us we can see them more as good.

I think it’s mentioned somewhere in the show that they consider themselves a “necessary evil” because to bring everyone together, you need something everyone can fight against. Again, that’s something you can consider as “evil in the name of good.”

They're the anti-hero; the necessary evil. The patriot. The people who sacrifice for the sake of changing in their country.

That depends entirely on whether you feel that the end justifies the means.
Of course, they have good intentions, but they express those intentions in a less than ideal (read criminal) way.
They're basically terrorists, committing acts of terror in name of an ideology. I guess that's evil enough.

All revolutionaries are regarded as terrorists by the status quo they fight against. In their unique case, they have the government's tacit support to carry their actions.

There's no such thing as good and evil.
This is one of the many animes which display that universal truth.

There is such thing as good and evil.
Eating a baby alive is evil.

On topic:
Anything that goes against God's commandments is evil, and Moriarty kills people, which is an evil thing, but it is also obviously true that there are different degrees of evil.
Murdering an evil man is not as evil as murdering a thousand innocent children, for example, so each situation has to have all its circumstances considered to determine how good or how evil an action is, and all the actions in a person's life are considered by God before sending the person to Heaven or to Hell.
Moriarty only killed some very evil people in the anime, he refused to cooperate with the communists who wanted to kill innocents claiming that "the end justifies the means", and in the end he was even wise enough to recognize that it's not right for people to decide who should or not die, meaning that he was able to recognize his sin, so he is clearly not a great evil.

I usually don't argue with people in the internet, but i love this topic, so I will.
Do fu-ing know anybody irl that eats babies??
If anybody were to do that it'll be, most likely, because of a brain disorder. The other alternative would be because he/she was raised in such a messed up way that he/she just doesn't conceive his actions. I consider these two examples not as an excuse, but as a way to understand what's going thru this person's head. I honestly think that there's a root cause for any action done, and that motivation arises from a system of beliefs ingrained from within each person.
It all depends on the perspective; there's no way you could call someone a killer just because he defended himself; how about someone that takes down a threat to protect others? You see,'evil' is just an ambiguous line that'll vary from person to person.
Something that is so subjective to us humans, just doesn't exist within the real world

As they told even in the Anime
In the God's eyes
They did evil things to get things right as even God does everyday but we can't say that it is evil..so he is doing the God's duty and called as a God..
And these lines.. Aaa
Catch me if you can
