I thought the battle was pretty well animated. This anime has no trouble at all killing off main characters.

Looks Like there's a gaint time-skip ahead.

Now that's what I call art. This arc was great. I feel sorry for Sarutahiko at least he has a baby.

This boy, Nagi, reminds me so much of Naruto! I feel really nostalgic...

I wonder why Yumihiko stayed in Yamatai after capturing the Phoenix. He had done his duty and Himiko was dead anyway. He was not one of the Yamatai people and yet he died fighting with the rest. Was he expecting Sarutahiko and Nagi? Maybe he really wanted to keep his promise to Sarutahiko?!

It's incredible how Osamu Tezuka has created these characters! They are so absorbed in what they do and so dedicated, regardless if we're talking about a fight or any other activity, that I really feel the consistency and joy of life! And the human nature is so well illustrated!

I feel that the Phoenix has some favorite people :))) Anyway, those who want to kill her definitely don't enjoy a happy ending :))). I liked very much how Hinaku and Guzuri's boy was trying so hard to overcome his weakness and all the obstacles, toward a new world. It felt like a summary of man's history.

That's really sad for Sarutahiko... at least his wife was pregnant, but now it seems like there is a time skip and the oldest son managed to escape from the cave, that's great.

What was the point of that? It seems like it was going for some theme about destiny but I can't read anything into it other than, shit happens in history. I don't get the point of any of the arcs. The characters are controlled by the plot more than they are people.

It's an old fashioned kind of storytelling, the type that sounds much better when told orally. There are plenty of twists and added elements that keeps the plot entertaining but at the expense of having actual characters.
