| a question for the novel readers, does the story get better? honestly for now it just feels so random, and not in a good way. the characters are generic as well. but i love the soundtrack, direction, art and animation, so here's what i want to know. is there a bigger plot that is more interesting? or are next arks better than this one? even this ark was themed well, even though on paper it was extremely stupid. in short i really want to like this, but the story and characters are just not doing it for me... |

| As some have already said, they are watching the anime as a fan of Nisio Isin’s or studio Shaft. Nisio Isin’s work is not for everyone as the characters are mostly weird and is very dialogue heavy. Before getting any true opinions on the anime I’m waiting to see how it will progress as Isin does a great job subverting his characters and their tropes. If your not a fan of it now you probably won’t be later on. |

| It hasn't gotten much better. Pretty much the same writing style that doesn't really hook everyone. While the theme is pretty detective boys, it's not really about mystery and analytical mind games, but about aesthetics in every sense of the word. It almost feels like a kid's play at some points (which might be what they aim for, considering the age range of the characters), with a good amount of exaggeration in their theories and a aim to make "beautiful" solutions. For me, this doesn't make sense, or it simply doesn't work, because I might be way too attached to materiality to understand this near obsession with beauty that the show plays around with. It's just awkward. I do think this last arc (ep 6-7) about paintings was a good one, better than previous episodes for sure. But still, nothing particularly sticks to me and I wouldn't be left with any thoughts or worries about this show if I dropped it now. |
