| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- What happened to Jose Diaz, the original voice actor for Hervé? The switch was startling, & I admit to feeling slightly disappointed by the choice of Quentin Haag as the replacement. Not that Haag's performance is bad...not at all. It's just that his voice is SO different from Diaz's that I found it distracting. Haag's voice is much rougher than Diaz's smooth & rich voice. I think the actor who voiced the one Doral security guard at minute 14:11 in Episode 21 would have been a decent replacement. He (name?) has a timbre to his voice not unlike that of Diaz's. Were you one of the viewers that didn't even notice the switch? Did you notice, but weren't bothered by it? Or, were you more like me, disappointed &/ or distracted by it? |

| Hervé suffering, makes my blood feel sugary :) Rose was bonkers this episode, I can fully understand her. She has a nice family/friends and who would give that up. Even the deadbeat father is trying his best. Rachael, oh Rachael, still the same bitch! XD |

I'm watching the subbed Japanese version. The voice actors are the same throughout. What's funny is, even though I never watch dubbed anime, I've been wanting to watch Red Garden in English because the way the Japanese voice actors pronounce the names of the characters is really annoying. Kate is Kato, Rachel is Rachureh, Claire is Crehr, I don't even notice when they say Rose's name... It can't be helped, but it's still annoying. Then I think, if I watch it in English, I might not feel like I'm watching anime since it doesn't look or feel like the "typical" anime. Now that you've mentioned this change, though, my curiosity is re-piqued. I'm going to look for an English version just to note the differences in the Claire character. The Japanese voice actor for Claire has a nice mature voice. UPDATE: I re-watched episode 16 in English (since it included mostly all of the elements that make up the series) and now I'm convinced the dubbed anime will never be my thing. I'd rather hear the funny pronunciation of names than listen to English dub. The younger characters sound too old, first of all. Claire's argument with her dad was nowhere near as powerful. All of the dialogue is soap opera-y and delivered poorly. I did notice the difference in Herve, though. The old voice was nice to the ears. Even though the new voice is raspy and gross, don't you think it fits better with Herve's evil personality? |

| Rose finally shows some personality after learning the truth about what's going to happen. Also, fuck Kate and Claire for being cowards. They were just going to let Rose and Rachel forget everything without even telling them. Feelsbad for Emilio. He was always going to get screwed over but now that Kate thinks he dated Emma to manipulate Kate, she's probably going to be merciless towards him. Also, I just want to say that Herve is an asshole but he's still more likable than anyone from Animus. |
