You should watch it after the next episode, once Emilia's first trial is complete.

Now we finally know how Guese got his Sloth Witch Factor, but even with that and Fortuna's help, Regulus is somehow far more powerful. Just how strong is he? Reinhard territory?
The truth is

He is definitely not weak, lol, rather, he has a huge weakness to his authority, thats all. If you dont know it and depending on where you fight him that weakness might be non-existant. Even if you know it, he is still one of the strongest characters.

There is no "Reinhard territory" in this show when he has his sword (aka the sword of plot armor), its only him :)

Smol Emilia must be protected at all costs. I felt so sad when she was saying goodbye to Fortuna. I feel like Fortuna is Puck but in spirit form though.

I think we all figured out that Geuse and Fortuna did have some feelings for each other, but I think Pandora did something to Fortuna that sent him over the edge. I'm still waiting for him to say "you are truly slothful."

I mean there are some limits to her power and they may not necessarily need to beat her by force to conclude the story. Witch of Envy apparently fucked things up but was still able to be sealed.

Quick question, was Regulus going back to normal after having his head twisted part of his authority or because of Pandora?

That was a tough episode to watch; Emilia's world turned upside down within minutes and she lost everything. No wonder she's struggling with the trial! I'd never want to relive that either. The part where she and Fortuna parted made me choke up.

Finding out more about Geuse and learning about his past is absolutely heartbreaking. Makes you think back to his quirks and behaviours and you realise it all came from a place of love... I'm guessing the Witch Factor just twisted everything about him until he was insane.

I see A LOT of similarities between Fortuna and Puck, like the incredible ice powers, the fact they both call her Lia, etc... wonder what it means?

A lot of revelations this episode.

Petelguese was entrusted with the Sloth Witch Factor by Flugel himself. Perhaps telling him to use it when the time was right.

Pandora, another archbishop, reveals herself next to Regulus. She said that she ordered him, and she also seemingly has the power to speak her will into existence. Which itself sounds terrifying.

There is also one other revelation.

Which means Pandora might have killed Emilia's parents. Which seems likely considering the face she made when Pandora appeared.

Another great, great episode. I'll have to rewatch it once more to catch anything else.

Hmm so Beatrice's creator was Echidna. Its funny seeing how obedient Beatrice was to her mother though. The younger version of Mathers sure looked less creepy and more earnest than his current self. So the cause of Geuse's shift was a failed defence of the ones he loved huh. The parting of Emilia and Mother Fortuna really was sad. If the attack hadn't happened i would have imagined that Mother Fortuna and Geuse would have ended up being a pretty good couple. Pandora aka the witch of vain really is quite the character. Hauntingly pretty but also fearless as well. Overall an excellent ep that while featuring little of Subaru and Emilia did well to expand greatly upon Geuse and Mother Fortuna's characters as well as introduce the character of Pandora as well. Looking forward to seeing their last stand's next week.

Stopping the attack is part of his authority, he didnt take any damage worth mentioning to begin with. Its absolutely impossible to harm him with anything other than instant kill attacks when he is completely unaware.

The anime did an amazing job at actually showing Pandora's powers. The transition of Pandora overwriting Regulus out of the scene was so well done. Along with another 30-minute episode with only content, I can't imagine any other studio with Re:Zero.

I read this part in the WN last week and I really, REALLY liked how it was transposed! Pandora's powers are illustrated in a great way and the moments with Smol Emilia and Fortuna were so sweet and touching.

Poor Archi.

Next episode will be fenomenal!

Also, I want to know more about the Beatrice, Echidna, Ryuzu and Roswaal situation! I haven't read that part in the novel yet.

It was before he took in the witch factor.. actually the author addressed this too in his comments about the episode:

The episode title is "The Day the Heike Star Smiled", and "Heike Star" is another name for Betelgeuse. It's a title about how, on this occasion, just before he took in the witch factor for the purpose of letting Emilia escape, he showed a smile as he said farewell to a girl who was important to him. Out of the all the titles in Re: Zero, this is one of the ones the author likes best.

It got me I cried. I cried like a baby.

Say it with me, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS IMPORTANT!

Re:Zero always had tear-jerking moments, but Emilia and Fortuna saying I love you was heartbreaking. Emilia realizing that Fortuna has her mother despite not giving birth to her was to much. Not being a child and understanding what's going on and thinking all that happened because she was a bad girl. The impact of that scene just hit me in the heart. The character development for Emilia is great. Never understood why she was even around, but it damn sure was worth the wait.

Regulus Corneas is bat shit crazy. I thought ain't no one stopping him, and then I soon realize Pandora is fucking insane. Is her power to rewrite the world? How has no one talked about her in this series? Is she still alive? I have so many questions.

Geuse is the man! I have so much respect for this man! Development is this season has been off the charts. Never in my life would I have thought I would ever like and feel sad for Geuse. Hell I wish he would have got with Fortuna.

Next episode feels like it gonna go crazy. 5/5

Touché. Though I still think the character power balance is still one of the weakest part of the series, when you characters that are seemingly omnipotent like Reinhardt and Pandora it just makes fight feels less exciting as you know the cast would either have to talk their way out of problem or rely on good old plot armor. Luckily this does not dampen my enjoyment from seeing how the plot progress.

Rie Kugiymiya as Pandora is just perfect!

Some basic calculations because I saw a horrible take on how White Fox are bad for not including opening and endings.

If this season with its 12 episodes would have their standard 20 minutes run time, that would give us 4 hours of content. Adding 10 minutes like White Fox has done has given us 2 EXTRA HOURS OF CONTENT

2 hours (6 episodes) is a 50% increase which is mind-blowing in the way that it fixes the problem that most Light Novel adaptations have with skipped content.

White Fox have truly outdone themself, it's amazing to see so many Anime this season made with love (Re:Zero, Mushoku Tensei and Attack on Titan to name a few). It makes such a big difference when you see that the staff really cares of the source material

some of that is just animation tricks like special sasuke, this show put some emphasis on this though with the sound of his neck cracking back together and has been relatively consistent with showing damage as actually damaging, losing limbs and breaking bones etc.

30 minute episodes seems to be the norm for this second half of season 2 and I'm perfectly fine with that. If it means we'll never see the OP animation until maybe the Blu-Ray release in the future, then so be it.

This episode itself was a proper emotional punch to the gut. The scene where Fortuna parted ways with young Emilia was a tearjerker and possibly one of the best scenes this season has offered so far.

The despair was also strong, too. Not only did Geuse had to fight Regulus, but we also had another powerful foe, Pandora. This cute, but deadly loli was proud of Geuse for using the item he had, then labeled him as the witch of sloth in doing so. This marks the downward spiral for the poor guy.

If there is one thing to thank Pandora for, it's how she put Regulus in his place. Despite him losing his cool and "killing" her earlier, she came back, buried him halfway into the ground and, in a blink of an eye, made him disappear from the forest altogether. Now that she's face to face with small Emilia at the end of the episode, I can certainly say that the feels train is going to continue into the next episode.

Another point of interest this episode showed was Ryuzu's past and how she met Beatrice and a younger Roswaal. Hopefully we'll get a continuation of that next week, too. =)

At this point, I am just happy to see Petelgeuse's backstory, he always fascinated me as the S1 villain.

Is this the first appearence of the third of the Three Great Mabeasts, the Black Serpent? That thing looks terrifying and has a power that is pretty frightening.. RIP Archie!

Pandora seems pretty OP with an interesting power. She put Regulus in his place though, that was satisfying as fuck. Now smoll Emilia is standing face to face with this scary loli. I suppose this is going to be the hard part of the trial.

Exactly what I am wondering now. Especially at the point where Fortuna called her Lia the same way Puck used to call Emilia. I hope it gets revealed one day who or what puck actually was, cause all the signs are pointing at Fortuna right now.
