Overall, the Vampire Mansion case was very good. There were some clever murder tricks in this case. I was disappointed they didn't show Hikaru's reaction towards Hakuya's plan and Jouhei being the murderer.
Armageddon was yesterday, today we have a problem.

Hmm they skipped a Sera-Kaito kid case for this, I wonder if there's a Kaito kid month coming after the next AOs, more Magic Kaito episodes

wow, the murder method was very tricky. It's been ages since somebody lost his head.

I was thinking conan was missing some more grisly murders. This reminded me of the mountain villa murder case, my favorite one.

I figured it was just his head when it flew up so fast. We knew he was dead at the time so it had to be that light for it to rise or fall so fast. Idk if that ice wheel thing would melt that fast though.

But overall it was a nice case. I liked it, though the motive was basically the same as always.

This was a very good and enjoyable case.
It's funny and weird though that the face the maid did when Ran and Kazuha were trying to open the fridge was really just due to hunger, lol.

This is the last episode Heiji appears in for now ;__; but it's also the last one Kazuha appears in so that's good. I don't know why they can't put Heiji in filler episodes.

Anyway, this case was pretty fun. I liked the thing with the head.

Case File #712-#715
Heiji Hattori and the Vampire Mansion

This is one of those many cases where the set-up is more interesting than the conclusion, particularly the underwhelming criminal confession given by Jouhei (like, to get the money and return to his ex-lover, really?!). Pretty lame motivation compared to Hakuya's revenge-plot that spanned over many generations, replicating his ancestor's plot. Hakuya's motive is little cheesy, granted, considering how he could have just used a prop head replica with make-up instead of actually decapitating himself. One could argue that it can be difficult to find a good prop artist who could make an exact replica of a head with your face on it, but I still think killing yourself just to allude to Dracula is a little over-the-top. Poetic, but nonetheless over-the-top.

By the way, this case presents a very complicated web of relationship that can be hard to understand without a mind map. Usually, I don't mind this kind of complex relationship in a mystery as it makes it harder to figure out the truth, but in this case, it does very little to convolute the mystery so much as it convolutes the plot instead. In other words, the mystery wouldn't be any less complex without these convoluted relationships. An ensemble cast that doesn't add anything to the story is a pointless practice. It's practically similar to setting up numerous victims in a slasher movie.

The weakest part of this arc is definitely the lack of a reaction by the fiance's daughter. Conan deduced that she was a kind soul who probably wouldn't have followed Hakuya's instructions for revenge and might have forgiven the siblings, but I wish we could have at least saw her face reacting to all these.

But like I said, the set-up was very interesting, reminiscent of Sherlock's famous supernatural mystery, "The Hounds of Baskerville". It's cleverly set-up to give enough of an illusion that it might really be the work of a vampire - even if you could tell pretty easily from the start that it's just Hakuya's dead body being moved around. This was a rather refreshing change of setting, particularly when they even alluded to the legends of Vlad the Impaler.

Overall Rating: ★★★½
Mystery Complexity Level: ★★★★½
Criminal Motive: Greed
Was the victim a jerk? Yes

Very complicated to resolve it!!! :/
There was a great point to resolve that was the time of the mobile message and the time hours the guest arrived to the mansion, but I didn´t be clever! ;)

WEell, I hope the next one will be easiest!!! kekeke

bullshit explanation and half of the tricks (like... ice wheels would definitely crush on impact and wouldn't melt as fast too), but still enjoyable :D
that ending where guys find out that the girls reek of garlic gyoza though.... this was hard on my refined soul
see you, space cowperson . . .

I don't get it. When Ran and Kazuha saw the coffin, the head was there and to pull it hidden into secret passage, the rug/carpet trick has to be done first but Kazuha and Ran were still there shocked in disbelief by what they saw so how did Jouhei do that trick if all eyes were still fixed at the coffin? Also, what about the spilled flour with fifty centimeters gap on it? Can somebody enlighten me?

The culprit was already underneath so the carpet is already pulled.
1. Girls see the corpse pierced by the stake
2. From shock and the strong magnet the coffin lid stays shut for the duration the perp grabs the head and pulls it underneath.
3. Everyone else arrive to investigate and manage to open the lid.
4. Everyone leaves.
5. Culprit returns and adds the middle piece of the carpet and moves the coffin, putting it closer to the walls, hiding the passage.
6. Conan and Heiji come back and start to investigate and see no secret passages but they notice something off in the room.

The flour wasn't spilled by the culprit but by Ran and Kazuha, in other words it was a normal natural occurence the culprit couldn't have predicted. The 50 cm "gap" is simply the size of the ice wheels (in other words proof of the prepping of the alibi trick on the last murder being done in the kitchen freezer).
