DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Points weren’t looking too bad, Mitsui was tied with Hiroyuki and other than that east was winning. Not that it mattered this early that is. With Hiroyuki so low Akagi wondered what Harada’s plan was, be it to “chop him down in one blow” or “leave him half-dead”. This resonated with me for a weird example. I played in some smash tournaments as a character which has two components and when one is taken away the character becomes incredibly weak. We would play 2v2’s and my friend, if we ever competed against each other, had the exact same decision to make. He could chop me down once stripping me down to one of the components quick easily, yet he always chose to leave me half dead. He’d force me to be weak and then, unable to do much, I would drag down my team. As Harada said at the end quick chillingly, “one dumb soldier can lead an entire company to it’s death”. The match began exciting, Harada supporting Soga and Hiroyuki supporting Ginji. It was going well until Hiroyuki made another decision based on his logic of safety, the text itself again used the phrase “weak-willed”. It was there that things went downhill. Ginji even told Hiroyuki to stop because the match was already over which probably hurt. Harada, by leaving Hiroyuki half-dead, can predict his “cowering” play and use it against the entire team, hurting everyone. He’s choosing to leave him alive which should work well but, to be narratively satisfying, could come back to bite him! That poison may turn on west. |
| Dang, I feel so bad for Hiroyuki... always making the logical plays, and they always backfire on him. Now he's in no position to fight back and must be feeling awful about himself, dragging down his comrades with him. It almost gives me flashbacks to P.E. in school lol |
