I feel really bad for Aldebaran. He had it all, and was clearly ahead of his time, but he gave in after being misunderstood and scorned by people who clearly didn't have his insight or knowledge. But this isn't a "sin" by any means, their unfairness lied in the fact that they didn't even want to hear him out.

He then clung to the idea that he was "the chosen one", giving up on asking for help to deal with the upcoming doom he found out about, but no one believed it. He was conceited as Katrielle said, but he was also ultimately selfless. He wanted to leave his name in history no doubt, but this was already going to happen in a way or another. By the time the comet was supposed to arrive he would long be dead if he just lived his life in the natural way, but he wanted to save humanity! And In the process he lost everything, even the woman he loved and loved him back, and things didn't turn out as he hoped either.

But I think things turned out "fine", people from our century could see that he was right about the comet and its threat, he was just a little off the mark because if his mind didn't reach its limits, his equipment certainly did. Thanks to the Laytons he also realized that people are now able to use what he found out and strive for a solution together. But even this "happy and hopeful" conclusion won't bring back the life he threw away, the woman he loved or all of the years he lost because he completely closed himself off and tried to solve everything on his own. I hope he can rest in peace, and didn't suffer much as he took his last breath.

Well, it's over. I'm really, really going to miss this one.

Nicely summarized, Aldebaran was indeed a tragic yet also heroic character.

Really enjoyed Layton as a whole and it turned out to be pretty clever, emotional and what not, especially for a kids series.

A question for those who finished this entire series...

I'm still around in episode 20. Does this anime have like a main plot or more interesting arc that spans multiple episodes? It seems so episodic...

Thanks!

I guess you can find the main plot in Professor Layton and the Hidden Relics Part 1-6 (ep 10, ep 20, ep 34-35, ep 49-50).
Episodes 47-48 are some kind of culmination of little hints taken from here and there for the secondary main story...if you can call it such.
Also some connections between the characters evolve with time.

But it's primly an episodic show.

What a wonderful series, I'm still so touched by the ending, finally the family is reunited! And a beautiful lesson is given as well, if we cooperate we can solve any problem, we don't have to face everything on our own and it's ok to ask for help if we need it.

I'm so gonna miss this show and it's marvelous characters, specially Katrielle and her antics.

Truth is always stranger than fiction!

I assume you're refering to the two people who knock on the door at the end of the credits? If so he's Alfeni Layton from the Layton Brothers: Mystery Room. It's a mobile game (Only the prolouge and two cases are free unfortuantely)

The guy was Alfendi, The Professor's son and Katrielle's brother. The girl was his assistant, Lucy. They're from a mobile game, but I guess they're canon now since they appeared in this anime. I'm so happy! :')

Please sir, can I have some more? :(

I already miss you Katri, so come back soon.
I am counting on this series being popular (or gaining popularity, I don't know the state of this show) and the producers's profitability to make season 2.
Ah, what a wonderful series. I didn't except to love it so much or to fall in love with Katrielle as I did. Really wish to see her again in new adventures and for more Layton adaptations.
Well, I will try to cope with this farewell I guess :)
