Looks like another fun game this episode with commentary from the managers, audience, etc.

There's some more aggressive plays this episode including one that involved a foul being called out. I can't blame Momoharu for getting pissed this epiosde.

What, I think this match is gonna end in this episode, look like it'll take another one to end it. 7 episodes per one match, who's in charge of deciding on this?

Anyway, now we know that Hanazono brothers' parent is a doctor, so we can assume that they're quite rich, despite their poor appearance.

Natsume/Tobi/Kite seems to run out of gas in this episode, I agree that stamina is their weakest point of the team. I hope he has more stamina on the bed...

I'm tired of watching this match, even though this isn't the final but it takes 5+ episodes to finish the match

But I really enjoyed the anime

Well, what is funny is that believe me or not, they have decided to accelerate if I base myself on that episode, as they removed few stuffs and accelerate things. Because, if they were going at their usual rythm, the "15 minutes point" is where the episode would have finished. lol

Maybe now, I am starting to understand how they will manage 50 episodes.

Anyway, just a precision regarding Sakamaki as they removed it (and that is NOT a spoiler as it is not beyond that episode), but just in case:

And as I (ironically) say, I prefer that they continue to photocopy the manga panels with their slideshow rather that taking liberties. Because everytime they do it, they mess up, as for instance the foot of Kojima on the 3 point line during his 3 point shot. I wonder who was the genius storyboarder and checker of that episode. xD xD

Down to the wire in this fourth quarter. Shinjo is putting on the pressure with Kojima on the court and Kazushi stepping up his game near the end. The show has done a great job of getting empathy for the Shinjo team, I love our Kuzu bois and want them to win but Shinjo is a worthy adversary. With three of their big guns off the court Kuzu lead is shrinking quickly. Chiaki with that hesitation causing his technical foul, brutal call against Kuzu basically putting Chiaki out of the game. Mokichi and Tobi getting tired out because as Nanao said their stamina isn't on the same level as Shinjo. They still don't have enough training and experience under their belt. Sora still sinking threes, glad his mom showed up to see him play. Great scene with her and her old college friend who's now the Yokohama coach. the lead has been cut in half since the episode started, Kuzu is on their heels.

The refs are screwing up big time. First that "three-pointer" Kojima made; his foot is clearly on the line, yet none of the hyper-observant referees, nor anyone in the gym seem to notice. And then, feeling confident about their capability, miraculously sees someone shifting his weight to his heels and calls flopping on what later would be described as a 'rough play'. Maybe the rules are completely different in Japan.. that would explain why Kashiwagi was rewarded with just a single free throw (and possession of the ball). On a side note: was it really the best option to let Kashiwagi shoot that free throw? Sure, his actions might have lead to the refs giving their team that free throw, but other than that I see no reason why he should have taken that free throw instead of the captain, the other senior/ace, or the one that's made out to be the designated shooter on their team. If anything, his actions on the court and during the time-out should make you want to think twice about putting him on the line.

You should rewatch. Indeed, Kashiwagi did NOT take the free throw but Takahashi (number 4, the captain of Shinjo). Takahashi did it immediately after screaming at his teammates and standing up when the time out was over. This is what he was doing during the time that Kojima (who stayed on the bench by the way, he did not return in play) was talking about Kashiwagi to the bench/yonger teammates.

He was supposed to be somewhat far away to the line but the anime screwed up, probably because not knowing the rules (stepping on the line invalidates three pointer), hope they fix it on the BD release.

It was the captain the one who shot the free throw though? You can see him on the line and then Kashiwagi looking him in admiration from behind. Although it's kinda strange, went to check up the manga and there were 2 free throws going from 63 points to 65 points, while in the anime it went from 64 points to 65 so I'm assuming the depicted free throw was the only one? Don't know what's the technical foul penalty supposed to be, much less on Japan's highschool ruleset, but it's certainly strange that it differs from the manga's. It may be a legit change, maybe since 2004 (manga start date) until now rules changed and they wanted to adapt that scene, but after that three pointer flop I wouldn't bet on that.

Kuzu is starting to run out of gas late in the game and to make matters worse Chisaki picked up his fourth foul. So he's back on the bench along Mokichi. The way things are going right now, Shinjo is going to win this game. Kuzu is still not ready to play with the big boys yet.

Yes it is. As I posted in another topic, they play based on FIBA rules and yes the techincal foul rule changed again in 2014 from 2 to 1 free throw (and even again in 2018...yeah I know that is a mess): http://www.basketref.com/en/index.php/rules/rules-history
So, no, they were right that time which makes that 3 pointer even more funny.

Sorry, it seems I was wrong. I missed the part where Katsumi was standing next to the ref (and put too much meaning behind the sequence that followed).
Kojima could have taken the free throw as well, since he was playing at the time the foul occurred, and would be able to switch out after taking it, but since it was Katsumi that took the free throw instead, there probably was no reason for.

That's cool, it would be interesting to check what other changes they made to get to 64 points instead of 63.

Now they only need to delete one frame

Okay, so judging by the place they get the ball, we can determine that they use the FIBA ruleset that was in place within the 2014-2018 time frame(?)

Next week I'll have that rule book at the ready, and will go through the all the necessary scenes frame-by-frame. Though I hope that all I'll have to be concerned about is Kite's douchebaggery.

Sora with Steph Curry no look shot. Yeah!!!

Well I expected this match to last for about 4-5 episodes, with a single quarter per episode : I ain't being too far from the reality. I still appreciate Ahiru no Sora but I've got to admit that these matches were there's a momentum for team A, then a secret weapon from team B to switch the tides, etc... predictable et a bit annoing at some point.

Wth the match still ain't over lmao, I mean it's not like it got really boring or anything but seriously just how many more episode's is this gonna last lol.

Sora's mom is here and she looks quite beautiful with her make up, specially with the lipstick on.

Chiaki was actually scared damn, I hope he conquers his fear and contributes in the final few mins.

Waiting for Sora to see her mother watching him.

I am very anxious to see what Sora's reaction will be when I realize that the mother he has not seen for a while is watching him.

Maybe he won't even see it, but if it does, there is a chance that he will be very moved and inspired by the game and happen cool scenes.

I'm only sticking with the show because of Sora's mom. How long are they going to drag this match? It's not that it's boring but you know, seeing the same thing over and over again...

Well, the "dream team" looked nice while it lasted. Now with the useless trio on the court, things will inevitably go downhill from here on.

Episode as a whole was good but dear lord, the pacing of these matches is awful.

What the earth you make Koji long shoot as 3pt shoot. Dude do you know that IF any player who try to shoot 3pt HIT the 3pt line than it count as 2pt. And beside, in the last 2 episodes there is so much flashback that I think it's not really important. Please make it more exciting. Btw i like this anime overall, I'm not intend to underestimate it.

I really like Shinjo and even start smiling when they score, but damn, Sora's answer to the 3pointer was savage. Too bad his mom didn't see that.

The part where she arrived and took in the atmosphere was so sweet.

Heartwarming to see Sora's mom watch the game and see her Sora's team in the lead but damn have the tides changed with Kazushi's play there. I really hope this won't result in to a loss.
