Real talk. Gimme your honest opinion, is this worth my time watching? Is it up there with the follow: Your Name A Silent Voice I Want to Eat Your Pancreas 5 cm Per Second Garden of Words Weathering with You If so, why are the reviews so mixed, I keep seeing so many people say this film is a pile of shit while others give it 9 or 10/10. It's really confusing. All the films I listed have a overwhelming majority vote that they are great. But this film is sitting on the fence. Why? |

My guess (haven't seen it yet either) is since the film is written by the same dude who wrote KADO and Babylon, both shows which started strong but then plummeted towards the end according to many, so I guess this might be the same |

I prefer Hello World over those movies that you've mentioned above. But we all have different preferences (I actually hate Pancreas and 5cm/sec) so don't expect too much. But I can assure you that it's worth your time. Watch it til the end. Btw, why The Girl Who Leapt through Time isn't included in your list? It's the best anime film for me. :D |

I was thinking of watching that one cause it was bundled into a list of suggested films with all the other ones I have mentioned, but when I looked it up, it looks old as fuck. Or maybe that's just the art style so it kinda killed my motivation to watch it since I had so many other shows to use my time on. Probably will check it out. |

OK scratch that, after doing some research most of the comments on the film said it will almost certainly make me cry my eyes out. Will definitely go watch it when I get the time xD |

Just watched it, didn't anything about the movie, was expecting a story like the other animes movies you cited at the beginning, turns out it was something completely different, I really don't know how to describe it, it was... weird ? But definitely enjoyable even though it's FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR from a masterpiece. So yeah I would recommend if you've got nothing better to watch, you can skip it, you won't miss anything, but if you decide to watch you'll probably have quite a lot of fun (I gave it a 8/10 purely on enjoyment, but the writting definitely isn't top tier lol). |

@FaffywaffleJLA In my head, "HEY, why isn't MAQUIA up there?" I thought I won't say it but i end up saying it anyway, Comparing underrated movies like this one to the big names like Your Name, Weather with you, A Silent Voice, etcs is basically trigger someone else who isn't a fan of those movies. In fact, it already happen above. But yea everyone have different taste for anime. Watch it, you know it best yourself after you finished it. People are free during this quarantine period anyway. Comparing an underrated movie? Is it underrated though? I feel like ever since Your Name, everyone just literally jumps on every new movie to be released that shows even a speck of 'Your Name' romance/drama vibes in the trailers and advertisements and expect it to be the next masterpiece. |

Yes and no, people do jump on new movie, however, CG anime never stood a chance against 2D since it is not widely accepted yet. You could tell by simply the statistics of members who pick up every season for the movie category and look for the one with CG. In addition, this Hello World movie never made it to west like in US. That alone tell a lot compare to other movie getting market here in the west. We're lucky to be able watch this. This series aired in Sep 2019 and another CG series called Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo aired in Jan 2019 but it isn't available to watch. This is reality for CG. |

I don't know how much you enjoyed Your Name, A Silent Voice etc...but I have watched a few of the titles you have mentioned and these are my opinions. I think it is worth watching if you are willing to figure out the plot twists and take your time processing the movie. There are some parts that may cause confusion but, personally, I love talking movies and theorizing and listening to people's opinions, so if you enjoy doing mental exercises and talking about the themes, characters, plot etc then it is worth your time. If you are here because of the beautiful animation, music and aesthetic and DON'T care about character development, figuring out the plot and okay with ambiguity, I would say it is worth watching. If you do NOT enjoy plot twists, are easily frustrated by ambiguity and want a straight forward movie to sit back and chill, this is not worth watching. Hope that helps. |

As someone who enjoyed Nerawareta, I enjoyed this too. But if you don't like stories where the backdrop is subtle yet still important, as well as something that kind of requires multiple watches in that fashion, then it's probably best to steer clear of either film. I think between either of them, Hello World is easier to understand, but I'm unsure if that comes from me already knowing Nozaki Mado's themes from watching his other anime adaptations or what. |

Ok update, watched the film and I loved it. Beginning was cute as fuck and man, that confession scene blew my heart (especially that sudden blushing lmao). True to Mado Nozaki works it does have an out of nowhere plot twist somewhere along the middle where it basically becomes like a sequel, I did think the 1st half was better than the 2nd. Art was great, it was basically KyoAni minus the bloom/lens flare and in CG. OST was phenomenal. Characters, I personally liked although I can see people not really liking some like the heroine cause she was kinda a walking plot device lmao Overall though like I assumed, if you’re a fan of Nozkai’s other works, or if you want a nice romance film, then I’d recommend this otherwise you might not end up liking it I find it funny though how MAL decided to remove the romance tag for some reason. This movie was all romance, sasuga indeed |

They are lightly hinted at in the movie, but the shorts pretty much do most of the heavy lifting for her character. I know people probably criticize the ending, but I think it actually is what prevents Ichigyou from just being a plot device, and in that sense, it's necessary. It's a shame they were probably limited to an hour and a half for the movie, and couldn't put the Another World shorts into the film proper, but I am still glad they were able to adapt them in some form. |

OK GUYS! I finally got round to watching this movie. My thoughts: 1. The 3D initially was jarring as fuck but got used to it in about 10 mins. Looked a lot like RWBY or one of those America Saturday morning kids channel TV shows sort of 3D art style. I actually didn't think the entire movie was 3D, it certainly didn't look that way to me from the trailers. 2. To be honest, I had no clue what the fuck was going on half the time xD I got the general plot of the film but the time travelling shit and linking brainwaves and emotions stuff to move 1 character over from 1 timeline to another plus all the 'recorded/fake' worlds thrown into the mix just made it a real convoluted confusing mess. 3. The soundtrack though was great, the songs especially were awesome. Overall, i'd give it hmmm.....7.5/10 I guess. It was enjoyable as flawed as it was. Not gonna lie, probably because I am a sucker for cute anime waifu's and romance stuff and the female MC was a cutie plus the soundtrack was great, which kept me from dropping the damn thing xD |

Someone explain to me the whole linking somebody's emotional state to them being compatible to transferring into the future or some shit like that. It was confusing and I didn't really get it but just went along with it anyway. But then they throw that ending scene in before the movie ended and it got 10x more confusing. |

I really didn't have any expectations coming in. My anime expert frienddid not see it, though I've seen the likes of Koe no Katachi, Tenki no Ko, Kimi no Na wa and many of Miyazaki movies and I am really loving them a lot. I like to judge these movies from different aspects, one being how well they can pull at my heartstrings and leave me with that empty yet deep feeling. This movie absolutely succeeded on that front. I found the CGI very impressive, especially with regards to the main characters who looked straight off traditional animation. The soundtrack was absolutely stunning. The characters themselves I really grew to like. The story is complex, and definitely confusing to grasp but there are plausible explanations and conclusions. I do like movies that make me think about them. I'll give it a solid 9. It had the same impact on me as Shinkai and Miyazaki classics and there's a lot to like in it. Plus, it did succeed in emotionally destroying me. |

I don't know, I liked it though, the story, the animation art, the music. Yeah the protagonist may have been a retard at first, but I feel character development fixed him later. Also yeah the "plot-twist" seemed a little bit off. In the end, I guess I just have soft side towards this kind of genre. I actually liked the main character, quite relatable in a weird way. The whole movie is about his journey of self-development, so he might have been a retard in the beginning, but that's the point. The main theme is very similar to Your Lie in April. The plot-twist at the end, I don't know if I should call it a plot twist, because it was hinted pretty early on, and I kinda predicted it was going to happen, but it was indeed predictable. I really liked it though. |
