I get the critizism from other people , but why a lot of fans too?
You guys seem to forget why Code Geass has it's current name , It's 2 reasons , Lelouch's character and the ending , nothing else , the story line itself was good but not that great , I bet half of fans don't even like Mecha animes.

Like what did you guys expect from the movie? Lelouch dying again ??
I bet if Lelouch came back at the end of the movie , the movie wouldn't get that much hate , but imo the movie was perfect this way , we got to see Lelouch again fighting and commanding exactly like how he was in the anime.

At the first place they shouldn't even touch this series anymore and let Lelouch rest in peace (supposedly). That was the most epic (or one of the best) ending in whole anime history and beautifully closed whole plot. So the movie from the beginning was in a lost position.

I'll no speak bout the plot itself, cuz it was neither great, nor bad, just okay with better and worse moments, stil acceptable and enjoyable to watch.
Yeah, I expected sth like the death of Lelouch once more, but ending was actually a bit surprising, also satisfying- he did what had to be done and chosed to live in the shadow abandoning the past (and FINALLY settled down with CC- im so happy for them).

Sooo...I can understand the confusion and frustration regarding the creation of the film, but not about the history in it.

btw.
for this look I can watch everything

Because it was way too action packed and marvel-esque. Really they should have just made a season 3 or left season 2 as the best ending in anime history.

This is a different universe. They left Lelouch dead in the original 2 seasons of the show.

Cause they are full of shit. This movie , was certainly better than the middle arc of R2 , if nothing else. The only saving grace of that piece of trash is the ending , which is goddamn great.
And this isn't even the sequal to to original series , just another timeline.
Does it mean that they are just milking the shit out of a popular series? Most probably yes.
Does it mean that this movie is bad/unenjoyable? No.
Just keep and open mind and watch , this shit is good.

The thing is, even with the whole "different timeline" fact, it would just go over most people's heads. They'd choose to believe what they see - Lelouch being alive. Thus, that would ultimately reject R2's ending and result in the rage we see now.

tldr(?) Even if the "different timeline" thing is fact, so is bringing Lelouch back from the dead and making R2's ending pretty much pointless.

I guess people are just really that much of a fan of the way that R2 ended. However, for myself, I'm just going to choose this to be the "canon" sequel to R2. R2 ended was indeed fantastic imo, but I always love to know what goes on afterwards. I'm glad he didn't die again. That would've just been throwing more salt in the wounds of him already dying once, and everybody else moving on.

Haters are always gonna hate

This doesn't touch upon the R2 ending, instead, it's a sequel to the movies that you can count as an alternate universe.

The movie was pure fanservice and I fkn loved it! Couldn't have asked for much more

How does that make R2 ending pointless?
The way Lelouch ended the war and hate is what made the ending good , not only his death

I think you might've misunderstood here...(I might have too)

While yes, Lelouch's death wasn't the only factor in making the ending what it is, it certainly is what made it meaningful for both the characters and the audience. See, his character throughout the show was manipulative and dishonest. Him dying is an atonement for what he did for the other characters. For us viewers, it meant the end of a journey. Thus, if you were to bring back Lelouch for whatever reason this movie stood for, not only does it make his sacrifice hollow but it also goes against the series' theme: that the only ones allowed to kill are those prepared to die themselves.

I would argue about that, because Lelouch still wished to die.

That was his idea, even in this movie. They didn't change his intentions.

It certainly helps to consider this an alternative world, because I was always of the belief Lelouch died at the end of R2.

Still, for an alternative tale, this is still Code Geass, and one has to judge it as that, far from greatness of previous seasons, but I m putting my hopes that a sequel TV series could nail the direction now that they have dared themselves to continue the plot.
They need to give it more screentime, you cant just built character development from R2 conclusion in a single movie.
There are too many threads left open with a sequel, that they have to explore to properly justify the sequel itself IMO.
To make it stand apart from the prequels and do good on its own.

I don't think it was bad at all but it was kind of unnecessary..so far at least. Hope we get some sequels/a proper season 3

No No No

I think this is a very good alternative ending. Even though R2 ended well, With the role of Anti-Hero that is extraordinarily cool, though very sad. there was no happiness for Lelouch.

This film was made by Sunrise studio to give the happiness that should be obtained by the main character, Lelouch, for all the struggles and sacrifices he went through.

And also I think this is the happiest ending.
Sure, for Fan Service
And then I can sleep well, No more regrets.

The whole "different universe" thing is to please the fans that didn't want the series finale to be changed. They re-wrote the ending and I consider it to be a part of the same universe. I don't like animes pulling crap like DC and marvel and saying it's just a different timeline.

With all that said, I liked the movie and Lelouch deserved a happy ending with CC.
anime is the plural of anime. Not animes
