I think this will turn out pretty ok and people are jumping the gun cause it's CG. Production IG and Sola Digital Arts did a pretty good job with the Ultra man CG anime. It looked and sounded pretty damn good. Animation was solid. Definitely better than Berserk 2016, Ajin and Knights of Sidonia. Looking forward to see what they do with this take on Ghost in the Shell this time.

3D looked decent here compared to other 3D stuff. If the show can be consistent in the animation then I see no problem. Stop being spoiled, you can get used to this. There's plenty worse out there...

Had a hanerking for some gits this week. Watched the 1st gig again and this is still my favourite anime. As disappointed by arise and more so by the new movie. Just came across the trailer for a new show.

Have to agree that it looks bad, really bad. Final Fantasy back in, around 2000 looked great, Disney have been putting out great animations for years. This does look like a fmv from the old xbox/ps2 days. Lacks detail and I prefer the appleseed and even blue sky in comparison. Id even prefer the innocence cg over this. I'm not up on current anime but struggling with the idea that 15/20 years later this is the current standard or if some comments are to be believed aabove standard. Is the industry in decline financially? .

I fully admit I much prefer the og movie and gigs versus the mangas but I think I'd prefer the manga of ver this series. I'll of course watch it but can't see it holding a candle to the rest.

Two things I would like to note - a Sovi Russian character designer, and Netflix as an owner.

Considering those two appalling things, I wanted to note a third one - the setting moving outside Japan and being set in a world of conflict... But then I saw people responsible for the originals still on board, and I will reserve this note until after IF there is something wrong with the "spirit" of the series.

I don't mind the CGI. I don't mind the style even if it looks more like a videogame. But that is not the Major. I'm tired of this loli bullshit, first with Arise and now this.

I'll watch the first episode, but looks terrible.

because its alot easier. spending more money is easier then working hard which you need in 2d animation

Looks good enough to me. It's always like this with CGI, half the people will immediately hate it forever no matter whether it looks like total garbage or relatively decent.

I understand not being happy with the design changes, I'm not either, but that's hardly a dealbreaker to me, just unfortunate. I'm still enjoying the LOGH remake despite all the questionable characer design changes they made.

I probably regret this post by now.

People are actually defending the CG here?? Go look at Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, that was made in the mid 2000s and blows this outta the water.

This shit looks bad and there's no excuse for it, anime studios need to stick to 2D unless they can deliver something similar to the level of Beastars or the earlier Jojo openings. (Part 1 - 3)

Of all the series' you could do this to, why GITS? Surely after all these years it deserves better art than this. They clearly haven't skimped on VAs, so why choose this visual style. Hopefully the rest holds it up, but they music didn't sound too promising.

The animation looks really nice to the extent of what's been shown. Anime fans are so cringe with their melodrama when it comes to ANYTHING CG. There's often 0 tolerance when it comes to this stuff. And that's just stupid. After 25 years of 2d animation it's sad that people aren't open to something different every once in a while. I doubt you won't ever see 2d GiTS again. Give the crying a break.

And Motoko's design constantly evolves. I wonder if fans of the original film or the original manga were bitching in 01-02 when they first began seeing SAC's designs. This latest design is a marriage of her SAC/SSS and Arise designs anyway, not something radical to warrant all the bitching. Do any of you remember when she was a lolita at the end of the first film? Like, HELLO?!

That's a 1 and a half hour film. How are you going to compare that to this? Be sensible. And no amount of nice CG made that film worth watching anyway.
