I liked how they adapted the raid of the Itto-Ryu at the castle. Could have been better, but it was fun to see how four men managed to take down dozens of guards and humilliate Hanabusa in his own territory. Seeing Ozuhan here made made me realzie they skipped his role in the Prison arc entirely lmao.
The moment where Manji and Rin met Burando again was funny.

Those Itou-ryuu guys mean business.

We're definitely at the endgame with Rin's involvement in the Itto-Ryu's final showdown with the Rokki-dan (or particularly, Kagimura Habaki).

Meeting coincidentally with Habaki's spies Meguro and Tanpopo, Rin and Manji kinda got a break, but not in the way they'd expected.

With the surviving members of the Itto-Ryu, Kagehisa Anotsu, Taito Magatsu and 2 others are just as deadly and savage, leaving no men behind. With the old Rokki-dan Lord Hanabusa, this is a fight made to be challenged.

Good episode, going into the final throes.

Somehow the pace keeps getting more frantic and hectic. But I'll refrain from complaining again about the fact that they wasted so many episodes on the repetitive prison arc (oh wait I just did).

Poor Makie can't get a single, proper, straightforward dialogue scene to develop her character and relationship with Anotsu for once. We see she's coughing up blood now, and then we get this artsy montage of scattered images and lines between her and Anotsu... yeah, I don't see how anyone is supposed to understand what the hell her deal is like this.

Well, at least Anotsu himself finally got to shine a little, with the titular massacre, which was fairly well done despite the usual limitations when it comes to animating the action. It's definitely one of the most memorable scenes in the story, and a powerful moment for Anotsu. He wanted to be able to serve the Shogunate with the strength and men he's worked hard to achieve and gather, but since the Itto-ryuu weren't proper samurai, the Shogunate didn't accept them as retainers, and instead rejected them as outcasts. So instead of strengthening the Shogunate by serving it, he showed them just how weak and soft their swordsmen currently are, slaughtering dozens if not hundreds of them with merely four men. He truly seems desperate to have the Itto-ryuu have some semblance of a lasting impact upon the world, and that was a powerful final statement before going away, to be sure.

When somebody else has to explain you what's happening in the show then you know you've got a really bad adaptation at hand. You guys are not alone, I'm also completely lost. Those two chicks from the beginning of the episodes... those are legit characters that I have no idea who they are.

The raid was nice! The pace is certainly too fast, but that aside, it's nice.

So I know it's entirely pointless to even try to comprehend the plot as an anime only.....but where the actual fuck did the Germans come from?

That was one hell of a raid, as if the Itto-ryuu was a rpg party trying to speedrun the massacre of the shogunate

From what I can tell, half of the manga was not adapted so the pacing is what you get here. Frantic and not making any sense.

Really entertaining fight scenes here! Too bad there’s a bunch of random characters and we don’t know who they are but they expect us to? What?
