I dunno if I am the only one got the hype knowing there's a new adaptation is coming from Nahoko's novel.. I just couldn't find the novel anywhere?
So I wanted to ask if there's anyone read or heard something about this novel here?
And to know your expectations if you think this is gonna be a new intact project as much as Erin and Moribito were?

You're not the only one. I've been waiting for this ever since I found the books in a book store back in 2015.

As far as I know there is no English translation of the books, apart from incomplete fan translations. However, on Uehashi's website Shika no ou is marked with "Full English translation available". This could just be a mistake, but I hope it means someone has bought the rights and is currently translating it (fingers crossed). Kemono no Souja Erin was released in English less than a year ago so it's not impossible.

I have not heard any talk about Shika no ou in the forum, but I'm not so active either.

The novel Shika no ou is more intact than Seirei no Moribito, where explanations to some things come in later parts of the series. One can only hope that the anime is made in one go like Kemono no Souja Erin.

Seirei no Moribito is one of my favorite anime and this one is by the same creator and is also animated by Production I.G, so my expectations are pretty high. Synopsis sounds interesting as well.

Masashi Andō's directorial debut. He's one of the best animators in this industry. I hope it turns out to be great.

The fact that there is still no promotional material 1.5 month before supposed air date most likely means it's getting delayed.

That's a shame. Reading the plot looked like this would be right up my alley

Just finished Kemono no Souja, and I was thinking how it kind of reminded me of that other hidden gem moribito. Just found out this is also based on the same author!
Going by those two shows I am going to guess this film will be pretty great, only adapts a part of the story and won't get a sequel.

it'll probably be a decently lengthy movie, if they want most of the content in there.

Seeing how this was posted in 2019, you could say the news on the author's site about an English version is a mistake. Until then you can read the fan translation at https://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-deer-king/ :-)

That's cool! What do you think about it?
Shame it's getting delayed so much. It's a guaranteed massive financial loss.

In Japan Shika no Ou is INCREDIBLY popular. I personally love the novel but I have not read all the volumes yet but it's very very popular. I'm pretty sure everyone's very hyped up for the anime.
