I was wondering that also. I didn't know he was THAT forgetful.

God I missed this Hanekawa. And Meme. And quiet Shinobu (though I love talkative Shinobu too).

I'm very glad I rewatched the entire series (including Owari) before watching this. It put everything fresh in my mind and made the flavor of this episode all that much more delicious.

People are saying nothing much significant in this episode, but if this is part of an arc, then there may have been plenty significant to the episode, but people just didn't realize it yet. I have my theories, but I'll keep them to myself in case they're correct.

But just think about it. Araragi Koyomi created something that in the long run began to get offerings. He might very well have caused some sort of apparition/oddity. He threw the "shrine" away, and even if that stone is a piece of concrete, who is to say something didn't spring from it.

Just the feeling I got from this episode. Rather than filler, it might have been purposeful misdirection. Everything in the Monogatari series has a reason. I've never seen one episode of it I can truly call filler (even the toothbrush one is relevant to character development).

EDIT: Also the Neko opening is one of my favorite in the entire series.

Holy recycling!

I jest. More Monogatari is always great.

I had forgotten how weird the Monogatari series was, but since Araragi also seems quite forgetful I guess it's okay ^^

Here we go, hope Araragi doesn't make me cringe too much.

Average episode, good thing and also kinda nostalgic to see Oshino, and Shinobu before making up with Koyomi :3

Seems like an allegory. The logic is meant to be applied to other things not just the shrine that's not a shrine and the stone that's not a stone.

Concrete haha I can't stop laughing at Araragi's face after he said it was himself doing the whole thing and I really missed this show after a year from finishing the main series it was a good breather from other shows.

After or before watching this episode maybe you should look up who René Magritte was, including his paintings and thoughts about his art because the episode was heavily influenced by those. Both visually and philosophically.

It's funny how even Araragi's shadow at 11:43 for a few secoonds looks like that of the man in Magrittes paintings The Man in the Bowler Hat and The Son of Man.

//

Openings do not define the quality of an anime, but it makes me a little sad the lack of new compositions, at least I will be able to listen to Orange Mint again. It seems to me that the soundtrack also came straight from Bakemonogatari and that brought a feeling of nostalgia.

The episode was nothing big, but it is always good to have a dose of Monogatari, I believe that these episodes will be about these small and harmless mysteries, I see no problem with this type of more refreshing content.

In general it doesn't seem to me that we will have anything surprising, but at the same time none of that was bad, at least we will be able to hear more dialogues with characters that are already gone.

Man is it good to see Oshino, it's really been a while since we seen him or heard him.

I really like how they used Neko Kuro's OP as this ep's OP, I really like the song and I'm glad they chose to include it in this ep. And that new ED is pretty good too.

I think I'm really gonna enjoy these mini eps, and I'm also eager to find out which OPs will be used throughout this season.

Damn, have I missed Meme. It was also good to see the old Hanekawa again. I liked that they're probably gonna use the old OP's depending on who is the main girl in the episode. Gonna enjoy these short stories.

It's a poorly made house, and Araragi is embarrassed about it, but I think it would've been better if he left it alone so that the "mystery" would continue. lol

Kinda surprised to see this came out right after Owari, which was in Fall 2015, and this is in Winter 2016, which funnily enough is where I’m at in Dragon Ball Super as well lol. And this was an interesting start, I want to first mention that it’s cool this season is using OPs from previous seasons to reflect where in the story it’s taking place since I think I read somewhere this is all short stories, I haven’t heard the Nekomonogatari Kuro OP in a hot minute and it’s still awesome. And the ED we got this time is cute, love the visuals showing pretty much every girl Araragi has come to know, and that’s a lot lol, and the song by TrySail is one of the bests I’ve heard by them, but I’ve only heard four others (being the Demi-chan OP, the Aharen OP and both OPs for One-Hit Kill Sister) and they were all good too, I think it was a great choice.

And it’s pretty nostalgic being in the time period this episode took place in which I haven’t watched since 2019. Meme is there and Shinobu is in a corner, Hanekawa’s design is still good lol, good times, and I gotta say they found a way to make a fucking rock interesting lol, leave it to Monogatari, throw it anything and it can write you a 12 page essay on it, Hanekawa even had to over explain that the shrine is new and the rock was always there lol. But this isn’t a complaint, I liked how this was a short enough story which was really simple, but still interesting enough, of course Araragi would forget he put a rock in a shrine he messed up and it somehow got worshipped, wouldn’t be the first time he forgot something he did/didn’t do.

Not a bad start to this season, I’m looking forward to more cool short stories that aren’t part of a major arc, it’s like a slightly different flavor of the series.
