Matsu began publishing the romantic comedy novel through Shueisha's Dash X Bunko imprint in November 2014, featuring character designs by manga artist Kentarou Yabuki (To LOVE-Ru, Mayoi Neko Overrun!). The novel remained incomplete due to Matsu's death in 2016, until StoryWorks—a writing company he helped found—took over and resumed the work this year under the title Hatena☆Illusion R. Shueisha will publish a new volume on August 23, nearly four years since the last volume Matsu wrote in November 2015.

Pochi Edoya (Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku) began serializing a manga adaptation in Nico Nico Seiga's Suiyoubi wa Mattari Dash X Comic portal in November 2018. The first compiled volume was released on September 19.
