I was having a blast with the series... then vol. 7 (turtle and kyo) hit me.
Reading through it was a literal pain.
Vol 8 was way better but I'm kinda discouraged now.
Since, I've read several opinions and reviews about how the quality of the LN keeps dropping...

So I would like to know: is it worth to continue?

I know I could just read it myself but, time is finite and the backlog is immense...
Thanks for your time!

Edit: I would also like to know which are your favorite arc/volumes and most hated ones so far. Only for curiosity.

I wondered why there was this post... then I read vol7, then I was like, but wait, this is still epic, or even better with the fights!

It sure drags bit, but you cant say you have read those fights, felt the despair Naofumi was going through, surving and even the last fight, and say it hit you, if any, it was as good or better than vol6.

"Since, I've read several opinions and reviews about how the quality of the LN keeps dropping..."
And I have read "several" people saying it keeps going good and even surprising here and there.
Your several was probably just a feel people hating on it, the premise is the same has it always has been, IF you have enjoyed vol8 more then just keep reading.
Also immense backlog? Sure, then just post with your main account (why people so affraid), so we can see how big that backlog really is...

Favorite arc so far was the first one, since I think the plot has yet to again capture my heart like they did with the beggining or Raphtalia story, it was just a really emotionally investing arc, and I hope again in the future they bring Raphtalia more into the central stage, cuz you cant just deny that charm and backstory with him that just makes for some rather emotional and endearing scenes.

Oh, someone actually did answer after all this time.
Hey, thanks for the attention.

I actually already read it up to mid vol 13 (dropped it there a few weeks ago).
The fight itself wasn't boring, the new characters/villains were.
More like, it was still somewhat acceptable, but like you kinda said, the start of the series was very good but the following arcs were just... meeeh.
I love Atla though.

The reason I don't post with my "main account" is because I don't have one. I don't bother with the whole list making and etc. Backlog also isn't limited to animey things, there are games (especially visual novels), studies... etc. I wrote that way so no one would answer with a simple "read it yourself."

My conclusion is the same as those japanese reviews from Amazon and etc -- the new things being introduced in the LN version are just way too... boring. It's like they keep introducing things which aren't actually going to help the story progress, while dropping the quality of the narrative.
I guess I should've read the WN version instead... Well, too late now.

I waited to reply until I readed vol7, couldnt do it before since I just started reading recently.
I understood the problems you are saying, but it was just a needed evolution, the plot couldnt have stayed like vol1 forever... though I would have loved to see even more loli Raphtalia before just grown up completly.
Yes the initial charm of the series was MC being all bitter and facing everything alone, then trying to survice along with her, but it had to take from there sooner or later, besides it is still the same series, the character development is believable enough, IMO too much sometimes since Naofumi is soo suspicious of everyone aside his party, but the whole rpg thing, lvl up, getting new specs and armor, it has remained the same, which is also part of the charm.
My only valid complain is that I still feel that it doesnt hurt to have Raphtalia and Naofumi relationship a bit more developed than the current status quo (in short, I need more plot heavily involving her into it, rather than just being there to be his sword, fight and be barely talked about).

I didnt find Kyo boring, he was as hateful as a villain should be, in a good way.
Atla is from 11 I believe, I know spoilers I dont want to obviously say, but the series will still surprise and choke you later on, with volumes yet to be translated that are to be released still this year.

For me the only part that will really suck is catching up with vol13 and having to wait, but 14 will come in March, and 15-16 during summer. I dont fancy reading only 1 voume then waiting, I prefer to read in bulk, so may wait till summer. :(

Well, for me MAL is all about being able to organize what you have read/watched, comment on that, discuss with others, and with everything else, to also be able to find new potential likeable series, it is not that much work IF you done it from the start, since 97% of the anime/manga/LN I have seen are from after creating the account, and it was the website itself that enabled me to go look for them.
As for VNs, there is vndb for that.

So you dont like the "filler" that is being added?
I cant read japanese so dunno about the reviews, but while there were some less interesting parts, it is still really enjoyable to read to me, since I love rpgs, and just get a kik out of the whole management stuff, and I like the cast quite alot.
Another guy on the forums for this LN actually said the writting for the LN is much improved versus the WN, so you did the right choice picking up the LN, there maybe some extra fat VS the WN you may not enjoy but aside that, it seems the author is refining all the content from the WN, so what is here to like that you are liking, maybe you would have not enjoyed it as much if you had read the WN.

How is that a fun fact though?
I enjoyed vol7 alot, those that didnt, it is not like the rest of the following volumes are like this, granted if you dont like the villain, just know he doesnt appear again after vol9.
There is so much more to the series, people dropping it is just a waste, but go ahead and do it if it makes you feel any better.

I was also ok with the volume 7. The fights were nice and i liked OST, but it's true that the LN went downhill from there.

The fight with Kyo dragged for way too long and the fight itself was dumb as hell. Rishia and Raphtalia were using swords, but couldn't stab Kyo on the head even when he was locked in place (he was healing any injuries).
I also hate how Naofumi almost sacrificed himself just to save those women who were trying to kill him. H e said many times in the beginning that he wouldn't sacrifice himself and stuff like that, but he then goes and do that.
I was ok with him trying to save Yomogi because she was clearly a good girl being deceived, but the other group (the one who were turned half beasts) were after revenge...which they didn't have any right to claim to begin with.

The fight between Atla/Fohl and Jaralis/Minotaur was boring as hell too. I dislike how Atla acts like she is some kind of master. I'm ok with her being a fast learner and her ability and her potential to use life force, but while fighting she talks as if she had fought many battles and was very experienced. It sounds so forced and so stupid too...i have no idea what the author was thinking.

I read the first 5 volumes in one week, but i having been reading the volume 13 in the past two weeks and i'm only half way through it. The story is simply not interesting anymore, at least not like it was in the beginning.

I should have read the web novel. Maybe i'll do it...i'll try at least since i doubt i'll be able to keep reading the light novel from here on.

I despise woke people.
