 The official blog of Kunio Nagatani announced on Monday that the mangaka died on November 25 from congestive heart failure at a hospital in Takanezawacho, Tochigi Prefecture. He was 81 years old.His son explained in the blog entry that he was in a special elderly nursing home in Takaneazawacho and moved to the hospital last summer to tend to the sickness. Unfortunately, not only did he not get well, he repeatedly got aspiration pneumonia, resulting in a weak physical condition. He also had multiple heart failures, resulting in him staying alive for only six more months. The funeral was held among his family. Nagatani was born in Tokyo in April 1937. He sent works to Manga Shounen, a magazine that existed from December 1947 to October 1954, in his student years where he met Shoutarou Ishimori. He contracted tuberculosis while working for a company after graduation, so he began publishing Kashihon Manga to multiple publishers for seven years. He established Studio Seven, a studio that existed from 1963 to 1971, with Shoutarou Ishimori and Fujio (A) Fujioko, to name a few. Mangaka Fujio Akatsuka joined the same studio later. Kunio mainly published parody manga, such as Bakashiki in 1970, which is a mix of Nejishiki and Tensai Bakabon. He published his sole original manga series between March and November 1990, titled Kamasutra. The series was co-authored with Go Nagai. In his later years, he composed the lyrics to one of Yousui Inoue's songs, which was originally used as a bundle for Manga No.1. He also became a writing instructor at multiple universities until he was hospitalized with a cerebral hemorrhage.
