Retailer Rakuten's listing for the January 2019 issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Flowers magazine features a cover image that reveals that Yumi Tamura's 7SEEDS manga is inspiring an anime adaptation by Netflix. The magazine will ship on Wednesday.

Tamura launched the series in 2001 in Bessatsu Shōjo Comic magazine, before eventually moving it to Monthly Flowers. The series ended in the magazine in May 2017. The original manga's 35th and final volume shipped in August 2017, and a limited edition included a drama CD.

The original series centers on Natsu, who suddenly wakes up one day to find herself in the middle of the ocean. She's with six other strangers, and none of them remember how they got into their current situation. They end up stranded on an island, where a "guide" explains to them that they are part of a government project to cryogenically preserve groups of people to ensure humanity's survival after scientists predicted the destruction of the world. Natsu's group finds that they are in Japan after a catastrophe, and must learn how to survive in their new post-apocalyptic reality.

The series was nominated in the Comic category for the 49th Seiun Awards this past April. The manga also ranked on the top 20 list of manga for female readers in the 2018 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook last December. The manga won the Shōjo Category of the 52nd Annual Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2007. Shogakukan published the 7SEEDS Official Fanbook: Edge of Emotions fanbook in 2011. IM SO EXITED AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA T<T

I read a few chapters and like it, but I didn't like the art style so I stop, thankfully I can watch it in anime form now.

Netflix don't make anything, they just pay for the license for streaming or buy the rights of distribution. The animes are all produced and funded by other companies. lol

I've loved Yumi Tamura's work, that being said I have little to no hope for this. The original source is best.

But yeah... this has been on and off my ptr list for years, still holding off because I really don't like to read manga that I know I can't complete. I might just bite the bullet and finally read because I don't want my first impression to be ruined by what might be a subpar adaptation. :s

Same. I've been wanting to read this for years, but the last ~ 20 chapters never got a translation :/ Of course there are sites that give you summaries, but it's not the same as actually reading the ending. Every few months I'll check if it's finally completely translated, but it only ever got like one or two new chapters.
So here's hoping someone will have pity on us and translate it before the anime airs!

Besides that I wonder how many episodes they plan to do. It's ~ 180 chapters, so even with 24 episodes it would still be around 7 chapters per episode and Shoujo usually has a lot of pages and conversations per chapter...

dont get your hopes up I just saw the art style they are making it like castelvenia ,
and this manga is more serious it felt like the character lost their facial appearance
god now all of the amazing scenes will look blunt ,
not only the characters design but the environment too will look blunt
its really a big impact of how the environment look in the manga

so rip hopes of ever getting a decent anime for this great manga.
check Natsu and other character reveled
they look like cartoon instead of anime

Well, Paradise Kiss got 4 chapters per episode and it was far to little and I'm still bitter about it, so 7 chapters per episode seems....kinda outrageous. To be honest, even if they do two 24-episode seasons it's still gonna be too little. Shoujo/josei =/= shounens with dynamic battle sequences that take up 20 chapters.

Ehmm.... The designs really look more generic than the manga, but I wouldn't lament it just yet.
