At the end of the 12th and final episode broadcast of Studio Deen's Gurazeni TV anime adaptation, it was announced that the series will get a second season slated for fall this year. In addition, the announcement revealed that the staff members will reprise their respective roles. A rebroadcast of the first season will also take place every Friday, starting on June 20.

Gurazeni adapts the baseball manga of the same name, which is written by Yuuji Moritaka and drawn by Keiji Adachi. The manga series ended its publication in 2014 after being serialized in Weekly Morning magazine since 2010. Kodansha released a total of 17 compiled volumes. A sequel manga, titled Gurazeni: Tokyo Dome-hen, was published in 2014 in the same magazine until February of this year.
