THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- More focus on Ikezawa~ So happy to see her realizing her feelings towards Eiji! Well it was obvious all along but this chapter really went all the way. Glad to see that Eiji liked her book recommendation, "A Tale of Two Cities". That scene where she blushed... So cute! |

I don't want to be bias towards any character for now, but I really want to see more of Ikezawa and the developing love triangle between her, Taichi and Eiji. But obviously the main focus with be on the love triangle of Izumi, Noahiko and Eiji. I don't think Eiji will even look at another girl until his feelings for Izumi are sorted out. |

I think I am one of the few people who don't like Ikezawa. ^^' She's not interesting, she's acting like a tsundere (I hate characters like that). And in this chapter I saw that she's worse than what I was thinking about her. Getting jealous like that, acting weird like a cliché shoujo heroine, looking carefully at Eiji's face... There aren't many shoujo were heroines don't emphasize the physical appearance of the boy they like but here Ikezawa does it. And the "I'm the one who recommend to book"... Geez... Can't appreciate her at all. I think it is obvious that Eiji will end up with her but it's disappointing since Izumi and Fujimura are more interesting and nicer, they do get along well. Ikezawa is completely ruining the good mood of the manga with her being in love. Poor Taichi... I was happy whe she smiled at him but now there isn't any chance that she would fall for him... |

Ikezawa is the first girl to appear (if we don't count chapter 0), and most of the time in shoujo mangas the main guy (here it's Eiji) ends up with the main girl (Ikezawa I guess). But I do hope that Eiji doesn't end up with Ikezawa since I don't like the way she currently acts, and I do hope that she'll change so she could be nice to Taichi because he deserves it. =) |

But Chapter 1 is a direct continuation of Chapter 0, so in every sense, Chapter 0 might as well be Chapter 1, and the first girl be Izumi. The whole main triangle is based around Izumi. At this point the implied end pairings are: Izumi x Eiji Naohiko x Fujimura Taichi x Ikezawa This is what I am hoping the story develops to since this would make the most sense and for me atleast, be the most satisfying. The whole Ikezawa and Eiji thing came about from a misunderstanding, one that stems from Taichi asking Eiji to get Ikezawa to go to his live. Her friend misunderstood that as Eiji liking her and Ikezawa is going off of that. I usually stay away from shoujo mangas because I HATE love triangles when there is no clear OTP, but I loved Nijiiro Days, so I gave this new story a read. I really hope we get some more focus on Eiji and Izumi in the coming chapters. |

I really hope we get some more focus on Eiji and Izumi in the coming chapters. You're right, but chapter 0 was written as a stand-alone right? At first the author didn't plan to continue the series except that it became well-received so it got a serialization (I think). Like Nijiiro Days, chapter 1 is the continuation of chapter 0, but Natsuki ex-girlfriend doesn't even appear after that. It's like a bonus chapter. And I'm not sure that the author has planned to make Izumi come back because we don't see her face in the first chapters (as if chapter 0 didn't exist), she wasn't in the first illustrations... And even for a Betsuma event, there was an illustration of all the shoujo manga heroines, and for Koi Boku there was only Ikezawa, no Fujimura, no Izumi. That's also why I think Ikezawa is the main heroine and that she'll end up with Eiji. But I hope you're right because I want the pairings you mentionned to be true (especially Naohiko x Fujimura and Taichi x Ikezawa), not really sure about Eiji x Izumi since I don't want it to hurt Naohiko but I want Eiji x Izumi to happen rather than Eiji x Ikezawa. I also do not read many shoujo since most of the time there are love triangles and it annoys me so I end up dropping the manga, but I think Koi Boku is interesting (except for Ikezawa I like all the characters even if they have some flaws). I also liked Nijiiro Days except that sometimes it was too shoujo-ish and I hate Nozomi (I also didn't like Yukirin). ^^' |

As for the Chapter 0 of Nijiiro, I was actually surprised Natsuki's ex didnt show up later in the story to progress the couple. I guess Mari filled that role so the ex was unneeded. Also I think the author was always planning on Izumi coming back. The synopsis for the story when I first saw it, said it was a story about 6 boys and girls. So Izumi was already counted. Also from what I learned from Chapter 0 of mangas like Shokugeki no Souma and Nisekoi and a few others too, is that generally, what the main pairing or implied main pairing is for those chapters, is what to expect for the story and its direction. Going back to Ikezawa, there is no reason for her to love Eiji. The only girl that should love Eiji, the only one that makes sense is Izumi, she was in love with him from the start. Fujimura falling in love with him because of his dedication would make a little sense here but outside of a misunderstand which is entirely because of Taichi being in love with Ikezawa, Eiji has done nothing of note to garner her attention. Eiji as a MC too, the more I type out these responses and reflect on the story, the more I realize he is such a bad character. It is really hard to like him at times and this is why I hate shoujos so much. Lastly, I agree, I HATE love triangles in stories. They serve absolutely no purpose than to just bring unnecessary drama and angst. What carried Nijiiro Days for me, despite the shoujo elements at times was the comedy and boys as a group was endearing. Reminded me of my high school days with my group of friends. And I whole heartedly agree with you on hating Nozomi. I freaking hated her as a character and could not for the life in me understand why the author decided to make the little sister of one of the main boys the love interest to a sadist. I cringed so hard every time that couple appeared in the story. As for Yukarin, I loved her. She was cute and so fun. But I can see how that might be annoying for some people. |

I do hope you're right about Izumi's come back because Ikezawa's interest on Eiji is so annoying (from my point of view she's acting like a typical shoujo heroine). Lol, even if Fujimura thinks that Eiji isn't that mean I don't think she would fall for him, otherwise it would be a harem around Eiji xD I don't think Eiji is bad character but I do think that he has flaws, that he's not really nice and honest (except with Taichi). I agree for Nijiiro Days but I also didn't fully enjoyed it because there was also shoujo-ish elements (three characters that have the same crush: Natsuki, Mari and Mocchi on Anna), Nozomi and the way she acts... It makes no sense that she ends up with Keiichi... I wouldn't mind if he hasn't found someone, at least it would have been more realistic and not annoying. I didn't like Yukirin because she's too excentric and not funny for me, I don't like the way she acts, and as a character she has nothing interesting. |

To me, I never really noticed the shoujo elements in Nijiiro for the most part, atleast for a good portion of the start. The end game of Natsuki and Anna was set in stone and Mari and Mocchi were the catalyst to speed it along, like were you ever worried about Mari or Mocchi winning? Exactly lol. As for Nozomi, god I really hated her as well, and 99% of why is because of her love interest in Keiichi. That was the only couple that made me feel repulsed and I skipped ahead anytime they were shown. As for Yukarin, maybe it's because I have watched and read so many, that the genki dojikko characters seems ok to me. I actually liked her character since she was just a best gf for Tsuyoshi. To me, in this new work, the author seems to have combined some of the characters from Nijiiro into Eiji. Like I really hope the shoujo elements don't get too overpowering and I am forced to drop this manga until it finishes. I really loved her previous work and I really want to give her new work a chance. |

I really hope we get some more focus on Eiji and Izumi in the coming chapters. I understand all your perspectives, but these couples would be to obvious since all the field is prepared for it to happen...eiji an izumi rivals have all a spare pair and if the plot continues like this will be boring an lack creativity...if i were the author would develop the changing hert plot that seems to be the main plot, and if eiji end with izumi there will be pointless since the main couple doesnt change their hearts. in my point of view they have to be toghether in some point of the manga, i see their love as an imature love, but both are stuck in the (what if)...what if I had confessed (Eiji)...What if I was with Eiji (Izumi)...Naohiko cant be happy with Izumi now because of Eijis shadow and if Izumi brake with him to be with Eiji then they may realize that their feelings are not they think it is or that they are not the same as it was in the past...I dont like cheating, but in this story it would be interesting since it would brake Naohiko x Izumi relationship and Eiji x Naohiko friendship...and they trying to fix what they broke would make the story rich...Izumi likes Eiji, but also likes Naohiko, she wouldnt be able to be with him for more than a year seeybg her first love everyday if it wasnt like this, and for Eiji, I dont really know what he likes since in the beggining he seems to superficial and only shows his "love" after had lost her.....but this is just what I think this manga should be...so I will judge the authors quality by how she develops the story, as for the other characters...all of them including the main triangle...as it is a triangle we can consider all MCs...all of them need more development...I only hope that if the author follows Eiji x Izumi s route the this become a short manga since will be boring if keeeps going on and on |
