Finally Riko gets done in. It was kinda pissing me off how positive she was thinking she can climb down the abyss and be OK. She wasn't even at least bit cautious venturing down there. Now she can suffer the consequences muahahaha! |

What an episode!!! That was so intense.....The Scene with Riko bleeding was so perfectly directed. Also compliment to the voice actors. That was some of the best voice acting I've heard in while. You could really feel the pain and desperation of Riku and Reg. Nanachi's voice is perfect, too. I really like how none of the terrible stuff in this episode came out of nowhere. They just followed through with what we already knew. We heard from Ozen how cunning and dangerous the creatures in the lower layers are. They also told us of the curse effects in each layer way back in the 2nd episode. It's just that I think many, myself included, didn't think that they would fully picture this in this extent. Props to the creators and the studio. This certainly deserves it's R-rating. |

First of all, I agree with you that this entire journey is stupid and if Riko didn't have Reg with her, she would be dead before she enters the third layer. However, what's past is past, and if she hadn't found Reg first, some other delver might and who knows what they're going to do to him. Down at the Abyss, even though Reg is a powerhouse, he's indecisive and slow to act, and would be hopelessly lost without Riko to guide him. Riko on the other hand has encyclopedic knowledge of the Abyss and can come up with plans on the fly. Also, don't underestimate how much a good meal can keep your morale up when things are down. |

Like it was dark, especially if you remember that this is involving kids, and of course the suffering made you feel the darkness but...maybe I'm just a sadist inside or something, it just wasn't like mega darkness mode to where it was hard for me to watch. The only thing that kinda pissed me off was the fact that Reg was in the midst of chopping Riko's arm off and legit stopped midway through then Nanachi shows up and it's like...okay are we going to seriously ignore the fact that Riko's arm is halfway hanging off right now? Yeah just splint it, we'll fix it next ep to the best it can be fixed. Like...why didn't Nanachi show up before Reg started cutting off her arm? Or rather, why didn't Reg chop it off completely before Nanachi showed up? That's kinda my only issue with this episode but other than that, it was phenomenal. ... Because Reg botched it. He fucked up amputating her arm. He ended up breaking it instead causing her a massive amount of pain. He broke it first to make it easier to cut it off then he went for the amputating process but literally stopped halfway. You guys forgot Nanachi telling Reg that the arm could still be fixed? But that it might not be the same as before. Oh yeah I remember that part but it still begs the question of why the sequence of events happened that way in the first place especially if you look it at from a plot development standpoint. Eh? Isn't it clear that Nanachi holds mystery, and that she appears much more experienced than them. (She had a collection of Whistles of various colors, especially Black ones--we can expect that there were Delvers less fortunate/skilled than that big man of before, that died... And she might've witnessed many of these deaths.) Her aid might be invaluable for their survival, helping them advance in the plot; Reg's incompetence in dealing w/ that situation served to prove it and convince viewers that her aid is necessary. According to her, the 'curse' is something that can be seen and avoided. |

Well, that's what they get for being a couple of stupid kids who think they're on a field trip to the local park instead of in the uncharted territory with grotesque monsters on the prowl where the strongest of humans die like flies. A surprising breath of realism I didn't expect from this show. I may be in minority, but I like it. |

That's really a silly thing to say, if all episodes were as intense and dramatic as this by the time we would have reached ep10 that scene would have had ZERO impact, maybe words like "world-building" and "Dramatic Structure" mean nothing to you but the majority of us understand their importance and appreciate it. No it isn't, Riko is magically attracted and compelled to go to the bottom of the abyss ever since she was born in the Abyss, died in it, then was revived by the magical cube artifact, that's why the whole damn thing is TRAGIC rather than stupid. Titadou said: Are you kidding me ? she'd be dead long ago without Regu who do everything and save her ass everytime. She even said "But you know, less than ten percent of the creatures in the Abyss have even been named.” And she's poisoned and trapped by the monsters SHE KNOW ABOUT DAMNIT It were just a matter of time before she take a reality slap in the head. You clearly have no clue whatsoever about what "Character Dynamics" mean, not every goddamn character has to be freaking power houses with excessive strength and flawless intellect, characters that can shatter boulders with their bare-hands and lift a ton of steel while solving complex quantum physics equations. The more a character is competent from the start of the story and the more there are competent characters the faster things get stale and boring, Riko starts off poorly becasue she is a red whistle and a child ffs, still she is far more knowledgeable and resourceful than Reg will ever be. Also knowing about a creature by itself doesn't make you immune to it, that's just so silly idea, she just mentioned this episode a BLACK WHISTLE had to cut their goddamn arm off because they were poisoned by the creature, and clearly from the stuff we see inside the house of Nanachi in that cave plenty of BLACK And PURPLE whistles DIED on this level, so don't you give me this crap about "she was poisoned and trapped by the monsters she knew about", FUCK the first thing she asks Reg to do is to fucking run away a.s.a.p, which is the thing they end up doing in the end and saves their lives. Long story short NEITHER of them would have survived without the other, that's the whole goddamn point of the show ffs, that they both need each other to survive, Riko needs Regs strong robotic body, grappling hooks and Incinerator beam while Reg needs Riko's Intellect, bravery, knowledge, optimism and cooking skills. As for what she did since the start of the series. -Saved her friend from a monster that would have eaten him by risking her life even though she wasn't trained or armed to fight something like that nor should the creature be in the first lv. -She is the one who took the decision to start that journey (partially because of the message she got and the fact she is magically attracted to the Abyss like Ozen said). -She dragged unconscious Reg and survived several encounters with multiple creatures as well as the curse to get them to safety. Reg might be a powerful robot but he is amnesiac, ignorant about the Abyss, very hesitant and totally unmotivated on his own, he would be going around wandering aimlessly or get trapped and crushed somewhere if it wasn't for Riko keeping him focused and motivating him to push forward into the Abyss. |

Fuck when Riko started bleeding out I just lost it and started jumping around my bedroom while crying so hard. Not even exaggerating, but that was my reaction throughout her suffering. And I cried harder when she "stopped breathing", then Regu started crying so hard. Oh my fucking god this anime just went full sadist to me. Fuuuuuck! I've never cried this hard before since Levi's god mode in SNK's OVA I swear. Omfg. But I'm so happy we finally get to meet Nanachi. I've been hearing her voice in the ED I bought on iTunes and I find her really adorable with Riko and Regu in the ED, and now HE/SHE'S HERE. I'm not even sure about his gender (it might went Maruruk again). Hihi. WHAT A GREAT, BUT FUCKING SADISTIC EPISODE! GAAAH! I'm still crying while typing this. PLEASE BE OKAY, MY BABY RIKO. Didn't expect such intensity from this episode. Poor Riko, it was painful to watch. But I like the serious approach of the show, if everything always went smoothly it'd be unbelievable or more like a child's play adventure. But I'm glad that Riko at least has a chance to be saved. |

I checked this episode out due many claiming how brutal or gory is... Expect that wasnt the case at all, showing some blood doesnt make it a "torture porn" , very very weak, this wasnt gore at all. I guess most of watchers simple didnt saw much until now, and probably Made in Abssy the first time for them. This reminds me to Narutaru, when people expected it to be Pokemon like child show, and then was shocked by a little blood and killing, giving the series the "most disturbing gore ever" all, claims, though at least that bad show had better "gore" than this So I do predict future reviews with sensational writing: "Dont let this show foul you, its not for kids, very mature and fucked up" Some poor fools probably will give credits to those reviews, will wait for nothing just like it was with Narutaru.... Very light in gore terms, viewers just not used to this, and expected nothing but kiddy tale, when something happens - basically few scream, and showing blood- suddenly becomes so hardcore and throw up including etc. THIS ISNT DARK |

Here are my opinions about episode 10 of Made in Abyss: I am one of the people who at first didn't read the manga and second don't watch gore animes for reasons. I've not expected the anime to go so mean by showing the audience the curse of this layer. It was kinda rough for me watching riko suffer and I looked away for 1 second as they showed the bricked bone. All in all I must say it was great that they show how scary the abyss really is cause I lost the fear of the abyss since the last 4 episodes. This Episode really pushes the Anime much further in the ranking for me. |

The creative liberties regarding the adaptation ended last episode, this one was adapted from the manga very well. I am pleased (that they didn't alter it or water it down). Riko's horrific experience isn't something to be pleased about, of course. Excellent reminder of the horrors of the Abyss waiting for them. Having read the manga, I already knew what was gonna happen. That still didn't mean I was fully ready to see it like this! On the bright side, the fluffy Nanachi is finally introduced. <3 |

Holy shit, this episode was so graphic. I knew that some gore was coming up, but... woah, this surpassed my expectations. I am also amazed that the VAs pulled it off so well – I could hear these screams down in my soul. And I hope SO much that Riko won't be so reckless anymore. She was all too loud and cheery as for someone who is going down THE Abyss. It's vexing to boot. |

Alright we know the premise, but this anime has to be the most deceiving thing in a long time. What bothers me is that they put kids in this situation, it wouldn't be so bad with adults or even older teens. I don't know, the bleeding scene shocked me too much and not in a good way. |

It seems we're now getting into the real meat of the story. Abominable puns aside, what a rollercoaster damn . . . Genetically speaking, there's no reason for that piercing critter to be as intelligent as it is, unless there's something worse than it, that it needs intelligence to survive. The realism and gravity of the situation and consequences is far more impactful than just blood/gore porn like Another or Corpse Party. All claims to this series being gore porn are in poor taste. @Swim_Swim @Milk_is_Special and others. |

I didn't really expect all that gore, yes it was shocking and all, too bad it happened just because since apparently she's going to healed by the bunny girl (which was obvious since the ED spoils it, plus Reg noticing someone following them). This is exactly, the end results what ultimately matters, the fact is probably Riko will survive and there wont be any real consequences. To me this is same, like an anime which is said to be so dark and many end up dying , but in the end episode the writers decide, lets revive all the dead with some bullshit explanation "beating the system"...So ultimately the whole thing ends up trash. Because when you have no consequences then nothing but filler. @GenesisAria Thats what I meant this show, nowhere close to be torture/gore porn. However I disagree with you regarding Another, especially compared to Made in Abyss. Mostly because we never shown how dangerous the Abyss is, but always talked about "so dangerous, so many died" but never shown, this is the first time. Before this the whole thing felt like a picnic, and even this one occasion wont result in anything new. Sure the little almost toodler girl, suffered a little, but she will recover without problem and this whole thing end up for nothing , just a filler. It would have been far better to see the robot chopping her hand, now thats CONSEQUNCE. We need more of that, not only in this show, but overall in other animes, most anime makes even death feel like a temporary condition, easy to come back like nothing happened |

And I just realized that it's possible that Nanachi wouldn't help them if Reg hadn't cried so loudly... As she said, she's a Hollow--we can expect that she's devoid of (of a soul) emotions. And if she weren't of help to them now, next time they'd be attacked, they could not get the chance of meeting her and would have their adventure ended there--and their Whistles added to her collection shown near the end of the episode. So if you think about it, what happened was very significant. |

Dude, you've seen creatures there. They're predators. Now use your imagination. You're saying that because you've not seen dogs guarding a house attack someone, that house isn't dangerous. And actually, we've been shown a creature feeding on a dead Delver's body. Swim_Swim said: It would have been far better to see the robot chopping her hand, now thats CONSEQUNCE. There'll be the consequence that her arm won't be the same as before. I imagine it's to do with damaged tendons, due to the cutting done. But did you forget that it was told that she'd not live long? You think losing an arm (that could be replaced by a prosthetic) is worse? It was the consequence of her mother being a Delver. Kinda disappointed Reg didn't cut her arm off because she's gonna be healed and there will be no real consequences, just edge for the sake of it. I'd hope that they change from this event, since so far, they have been reckless, especially Riko which has done nothing but causing problems for Reg or herself, and been acting pretty dumb, despite being in the most dangerous place in the world and having lots of knowledge about it. |

this fucking anime Ah, a hollow then. Forgot what Lyza said about them in the beginning, guess I'll check that out. katsu044 said: Clearly, it's almost wrong to speak of a tonal shift. They've been narrowly escaping death since episode 1. Everything has been ambiguous in the abyss. Ohzen is the perfect example. Despite how rough this episode was to watch,i'm surprised how many people were shocked by the tonal shift which has sorta always been there and somewhat dark or at least they've indicated it was with all the death and what not ,i just hope there are some serious consequences for this because if it wasn't for the sake of the plot progressing i still don't think they would've made it this far i mean it was suicidal from the start lol. |

We need more of that, not only in this show, but overall in other animes, most anime makes even death feel like a temporary condition, easy to come back like nothing happened Then you really were not paying attention... Even disregarding all of the comments on death etc.... just the nature of the culture, and everything that goes on there . . . You must have zero sense of environment, because the danger of it has even been alluded to via circumstance and presentation alone. You are the one here who seems to need to see consequence to know it's there. I saw it come and go several times... Up until this point they had been extremely lucky, and they were riding on their luck. If they keep doing that they'll end up dead, or survive by pure RNG. |

WTF man, how hard and painful was this episode. For some moments I remembered that I had a similar reaction when I saw the episode 3 of Madoka xD This episode was a lot better than the previous one in all sense, taking aside some things from the plot, or from character actions in this episode (I'm talking to you, Reg). This arc of the loli rabbit is leaving me a better impression than the one of Ouzen, although I do not think that they add anything more on the past history of Riko. Apparently in the ending now the adventures will be in charge of these 3 characters until the end. PS: Has anyone already taken a look or is reading the manga ?: (No spoilers pls) I am interested in knowing if they are omitting some things in this adaptation, also I have doubts on the level of censorship that is having. Many thanks in advance if you respond, anyway I am determined to read the manga when this series ends. Although I am not sure to read it from the beginning or not. |
