Strike the Blood (light novel)
| I watched this way back in the day when I was an anime newbie and really can't remember the plot. If anyone could just give me a short and sweet general summary of season 1 I'd really appreciate it since I will be watching this when I finish Ansatsu Kyoushitsu and I don't really fancy watching 25 eps to remember what happened. |
| Basically its about Kojou Akatsuki aka the 4th Primogenitor who just received his powers from the original 4th Primogenitor. The first season is about him gathering his harem and drinking their blood to unlock his familiars. The show covers a few arcs of different villains and different familiars being unlocked. Thats the short and sweet version. More under the synopsis for MAL Kojou Akatsuki's days as an ordinary high school student in the Demon District of Itogami Island come to an abrupt end after a fateful encounter leaves him with the remarkable abilities of a vampire. It isn't long before he is thrust into the center of attention when it is discovered that he is the fourth primogenitor, an immensely powerful vampire whom most consider to be merely a legend. Fearing Kojou's destructive potential, the Lion King Organization sends in an apprentice sword-shaman, Yukina Himeragi, to monitor, and should he become a threat, kill the boy deemed the world's most powerful vampire. Forced together by circumstance, the two form an unlikely alliance as Kojou comes to terms with his abilities and they both struggle to protect the city from various emerging chaotic forces. |

Our protagonist, Akatsuki Kojou, is for some unknown reason a really powerful vampire - "The 4th Progenitor". Every other progenitor is important person on the level of a president of a major country, so everyone is on their toes, because he could upset all the balance in politics all by himself. Fortunately for the world, he is a good guy who often helps out other people. The protagonist powers up by drinking blood. Which is a lot like sex. His powerups are "familiars", beasts the size of a dragon, and with power and lack of precision at about 1/4 of a nuke. Thus they are mostly usable against big opponents, and most human-scale fighting is done by his harem (at least some of which was given to the MC by various conspiracies and secret agencies for that very purpose). The show is arc-based. A typical arc goes like this: first, the MC and his friends discover some trouble, then they investigate it, then they fight it, and it doesn't go well enough, so the MC has to drink a new girl's blood to awaken a new "familiar", which saves the day. The MC is then scolded for being a harem protagonist who can't get though an arc without seducing a new girl. |
