This series aired back in 2013, so not entirely sure if i'll get a response and i couldn't really find a similar discussion on the forum so i might as well ask.

Why isn't he evil? Is there an official reason why? Any theories why? I'm sure it's implied but I just want affirmation on this.
Also why did he even fought against the humans in the first place? All the motivation i've seen was just "I didn't understand humans" (something around those lines).

He gradually got used to life on our side and began to enjoy life as is. In the beginning, he wanted to conquer the world by becoming the big boss of Wcdonalds. (I think Wcdonalds)

First, I didn't read the ln.

Second, what makes you so sure that he was evil in the first place? Perhaps the humans attacked first and the demons simply retaliated and it ended up being something both sides could not stop.

I'd say the main reason for him not being evil is for comedic purposes.

There are also probably some other reasons
1) He lost most of his powers when he left Ente Isla. They talked about reserving their powers for emergencies. He can't do his "evil" things if he can't use his powers to rule.
2) Taking a loss of powers in consideration, he needs to find a way to keep himself alive to survive. They need money and to make money, their best chance of that is working at McGronalds
3) Humans haven't caused him problems at all, so he probably doesn't have any motivating reason to attack them or get rid of them, but he is still interested in ruling them.

When you say he attacks humans, do you mean the angels? I don't recall him attacking the ones on Earth unless instigated.

That's what I want to find out if he was evil to begin with, however its hard to argue if he's was truly good if he was bent on taking over the whole world(ente isla) instead of defending their own territory. Similar to say the Korean War where US and South Korea tried to take over the entire country of Korea to get rid of the presence of communism. However based on the first few scenes in the anime, all we've gotten was the Overlord's army simply killing everyone in the area, in a total war fashion.

But that's what I just think anyways.

In LN he told his reasons. In the other words, do you want spoilers from LN?

OK, do not open if you are going to read manga/LN.

I suggest reading the manga it's already beyond the anime. Start at chapter 27.

But if you want the true source. Read the Light Novel. The manga follows it but it's a lot more detailed obviously.

That's not it actually.

The reason is pretty tragic. He's one of those characters with a unique background story. It's so awesome that you can make another series with just his background story.

I recommend reading the manga start in chapter 27 or preferably the light novel start in volume 3. There's 6 volumes translated by yen. You can find up to volume 12 somewhere in the net.

I have wanted them to make another season ever since I watched the show. It was nothing but laughs. Your post just increased my curiosity and it just makes me want to see a next season even more. Given there is a lot of popularity of with the anime series, I'm still flabbergasted that there hasn't been a second season yet.

Well if you want to know more about it you can read the manga starting from chapter 27 (that's where the anime ends). Or you can go for the source material (Light Novels).

You can make 2 prequel series (similar to fate:zero):

Maou's Background Story.
Demon Invasion/War of Ente Isla.

Right now there is a Volume 0 and Volume 0-II that explores Maou's Background Story and The Hero's Journey in the war of Ente Isla plus other extra stuff in the present story.
