Hmm, this episode was kinda interesting. We got sensei reflecting his thoughts on the current state of the demi-humans.

It's not easy to associate them with normal humans and he knows it.

I think Hikari and sensei had some really charming chemistry especially at the beach this episode :D The yelling though

I sort of called it? tho I didnt expect the reason to be this petty.
Basically the vice principal doesnt like Takahashi working too hard with helping the demi's... cause he thinks its bad for the demi's to rely on Takahashi too much, its not that they rely on him too much (tho there were cases like this when they relied on him, but its not to the point of it being TOO MUCH) far as I can see it they simply click, they enjoy each others company, Takahashi and the demi's doesnt force themselves with interacting, they interact because its fun, thats not exactly wrong.
Anyways thats just me defending Takahashi... but I cant defend his voice screaming hyped up for summer, the bastard was hyped in seeing those girls in their bathing suits... bad teacher.

Satake's delusions where funny.
Anyway it was nice of the students to worry about the Demi girls they where even thinking of a plan to help them out.
Seems the vice principal was wrong with his judgement but he admitted to his mistake as well.

Also that Tomato juice had a typo on the package.

This is the best written, directed, and animated episode of this series, and one of my favorite episodes from this season as a whole. I was terrified that the vice principal would be portrayed as a boring and unnecessary villain, but instead he ends up being a very smart and understanding person that helps to trigger the small moments of character development throughout the episode. There was a lot of awesome directing and editing moments throughout, like when Takahashi was reflecting on what the vice principal said and he was surrounded by mirrors with the Demi's and others. It visually conveys the separation and isolation he feels from the Demi's at that moment, while also creating a reflective tone because of the mirrors. This episode also had some incredible character animation, with lots of subtle movements conveying the characters thoughts and feelings throughout. And I must say that I adore the facial expressions of this show, and they make the already super memorable character designs even more endearing and lovable. I'll be sad to see this one go next week.

What an episode, where do i even begin? I'll have my biggest praise for this at the end.

First of all, i loved how they delved into two sides of a coin. Treat demis as normal humans or not? You have to see the side of both demis and humans in this. Would demis want to be treated as normal humans and being denied of their demi traits? That discrimination side was something i would have not expected to see in this anime (there was some deep exploration beforehand but i wasn't expecting this).

Then the vice principal. Many were seeing him as a bad guy for getting involved into the business of Takahashi. Yet that got immediately put into place right at the beginning. He's actually thinking about the future of demis. They might be treasured and protected by Takahashi-sensei but that can also lead to them being too dependant on him rather than having more contact to other people who would eventually get to see their side of things and growing attached to them. I get his thoughts completely.

Now the best part about this episode were the four kids (Satakke, his friend and the ''bully'' girls) rambling. I don't know, that just got my utmost attention this episode and i was in awe seeing them connecting to our demis at the end and Takahashi witnessing this. They were the catalyst to the ending (Satakke especially for standing up against the vice principal, he definitely got a message there that he kept in his further thoughts). That was wonderful.

While i would expect most people to love the video letter and the beach scene the most, i would say that was the ''weakest'' part of the episode. I already knew their thoughts and Hikari's traits. Takahashi crying means he accepted the message and will continue to pursue his path.

I'm so glad the drama wasn't too over-the-top and the episode got a nice conclusion. Like someone has said above, this could have been the last episode of the series and I would be perfectly fine.

This time, the "Trouble" gets into the one who usually take role as the "helper". Takahashi.
The Vice Principal do have a point about Takahashi though. Maybe he just "overworked" about this demi-human thing and The Vice Principal try to tell him about that through some difficult words. After all Takahashi is the only teacher that study about Demi pretty much.

I'm so glad the drama with the vice-principal wasn't too much. He realized he was wrong when he saw other students interacting with the demi-humans. The girls went out of their way to thank Takahashi for what he's done for them.

Very good discussion about the nature of discrimination and the discrimination of nature. Demo, I don't know if it's just lost in the sub but sensei talks about "helping" demis repeatedly. Ascribing a group of people a need for help on the basis of their natural traits seems to me of form of disciminative thinking, even if it leads to affirmative action. Seems funny for sensei to walk into this of all things. In this regard, I loved the last scenes w/ the peers being all natural interacting.
I wish there'd be more works or even single ep's that are deeper in anime. This ep proves it doesn't always need to be heavy and stifling with drama to get deeper..

I was worried that the vice principle had discriminatory reasons and it would turn into unnecessary drama. But it turns out he had the demi-chans best interest at hart. You become complacent if you have someone solve all of your problems. You have to become independent at some point he wont be there for them forever.

But I would have gown at it a different way talk to the students not prohibit the teacher. Anyway him stepping in created a new variable in the closed circle that formed and got every one out of their complacency. And at the moment he realized the circumstances changed he went back on his decision. He is a true educator.

Great episode.

@Smudy summarized everything really well. One of my favorite parts of this episode was the 4 kids talking about the nature of Demi's and how they would want to be treated.

The video letter was really sweet and Hikari's yell was great too. Takahashi-sensei crying was kinda emotional.

The final scene with the 4 kids getting along with the demi's as Takahashi-sensei looks from afar and the vice principal retracting his comment was one of the best moments in the entire series as it showcases just how much these characters have grown.

Ah yes, another good episode.

And let's be frank, this episode shows how to be a good teacher.

Being a good teacher is not about reaching all your students, or making all your students happy

It is about inspiring your students, one at a time.

On another note...that vice principal is not the bad guy he seemed to be. Had some good advice there.

Hikari might not be the smartest Demi, but she's the most perceptive. Maybe it's a vampire trait. I found this episode moving.
I suppose that when Hikari spots Takahashi-sensei from a distance in the dark it must have to do with her vampiric night vision. That would be an awesome trait to have.

After last week I was wondering what the VP would be up to, but it turns out he is not a complete prick. The reason he backpedals before Takahashi has a chance to confer with him was a nice little scene. The mean girl holding Machi's head and Hikari bantzing pompadour kid. Ha ha ha.

Oh man, this episode was really heartwarming. Seeing Takahashi-sensei almost crying really tugged at me. He's such a great guy

Those gossiping girls really turned around, huh?
Hikari, you're such a good girl.

Though the principal initially came off as cold, as I respect him a bit after this episode. It seems like he genuinely cares for the students' growths

The vice principal is the actual MVP this episode, without his lecture to Takahashi the other classmates wouldn't have started talking to the demis lol.

But man, seeing Takahashi sensei cry was pretty heart wrenching, poor guy just wanted to help as much as he could. Glad to see everything was resolved on a positive note.

@dr4chen Welp, looks like we sorta guessed right for the most part with regard to the content of this ep, though I'm grateful that we weren't completely correct. I think the conflict this episode was just the right amount to not seem overdone or lackluster, and just like we hoped, it was reserved for only a single ep, and tbh that's really all it needed. This was a very heartwarming episode.
I'm glad that I read into the VP's personality too much. I had expected him to be immoral or sneaky, but I'm glad it ended up just being that he was passionate and legitimately concerned for the demis' wellbeing.

Really nice to see how Takahashi influenced others to consider the demis' situation more, and very heartwarming to see how happy everyone was to thank him for all his kind and hard work.

This episode was particularly a great one for me, on the level of the first episode with how it addresses some sort of social etiquette and brings up questions that are well thought out. Ep 1 made us consider whether ignoring the differences between demis and humans was correct or not, and this ep readdressed the issue and provided more insight that I can only say was developed very well throughout the course of the season.

Gomen Mr Vice Principal, I misunderstood you >_<, I will shorten your name to MVP! Great job bringing about this glorious episode

Yup, except in real life people would not have allowed her to explain.

Like a submarine. She can just put her head on the flood or in the shade, and never need to come up to breath. Damn, that girl should move to Ise and become a pearl diver.

Well the Vice Principal wasn't as bad as I thought he was. He just wanted what was best for both his students and his staff. The fact that Takahashi was able to inadvertently inspire other students to care more for the girls was awesome to behold.

That said I found it quite heartwarming to see the girls finally doing some supporting for him this time around. The video was great, and I never thought I'd see the day Takahashi would cry manly tears, lol.

There weren't too many jokes this time around, but overall it was a good episode despite that.

I wonder how Machi will swim next episode too, considering she finds it uncomfortable when her flames are touched...

This ep was adorable as f*ck. I really can't add to that except......

POOL EPISODE!!!! There are two types of locations that every school anime has. The beach or the pool/water park. This one is going the later route.

That means Machi is going to have no choice but to show everyone her.......( o )( o )ssets. This means a funny episode where the two girls will be depressed about what they will see.

Not to mention Sakie is going to wear something to get his attention as well. This is going to be a funny one indeed.

But it's the last ep. How can it end on a pool scene? That kind of goes off track of normal school style animes. They normally save the swimsuit ep for the middle of the show.

By far my favorite episode of this series. That was really touching that the girls decided to show their appreciation towards Sensei.

Though I agree the season should end with this episode but I'm not sure how the next episode would end either. I'm sure there will be a lot of fanservice in it which I'm not complaining, but I'd rather have it end on this note.

Who knows though, I don't read the manga at all so it could be a very good episode as well!

5/5- I loved the episode and the message it was sending. Next week is the last episode which makes me a little depressed, but I guess that means I can read the manga now.

On a side note...If my vice principal looked like that when I was in high school, I wouldn't want to talk to him or seek advice...What the fuck is wrong with his face?

All I can say is this...

I hope there will be an S2. Sensies need to get together and we need to see the girls experience dating with normals or with other demis. THAT would be fun to watch.

Let's face it. It's the first time I've ever wanted to cheer for a male MC to get the girl cause he's an honest person and she deserves it. I mean, typically a succubus type in an anime would have done crap already or played the comedic role. She didn't. She kept herself pure and deserves this.

Granted I'm sure if THAT magically night is portrayed it would be two decades of sexual frustration that needed to be released and would be hilarious to see them afterward.
