THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
More carefree willingness to ignore the genre of this TV show and do a little short film instead. The mood and atmosphere are done well even if the story is ultimately nonsensical.

The title of the episode, "And Then There Were None", is drawn directly from an Agatha Christie novel the plot of the episode is obviously based on.

Another Lupin reference: Onsen Mark's green jacket, black shirt, and white tie match that of Lupin in the first TV series.

So...this was just a PRANK?! Just to get Ataru to stop chasing women?! Well it failed miserably!
The only thing that actually touched my heart was when Ataru thought Lum was dead ( shows how much he really cares for her T-T)

It was really naïve of them to think that it would work.

But somehow they managed to get even Cherry to coöperate, that's quite a feat.

Lol, no one's concerned about CHEERY (Sakuranbou).

07:34SAKURA be like "He's not breathing. He's Dead."

ATARU's comment on CHERRY's death.

Lol 17:21 "For Poor Cock Robin ... eh? We are the one's who are poorer than that..."

Even "Playing Dead" won't cure ATARU's Flirtatiousness. MOROBOSHI's as healthy as ever. :)

What if Lum died...

Deviating from the standard setting like this is such a cool way to explore different emotional experiences.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Two spooky episodes in a row, this one was a lot darker than the last one, but I really enjoyed it. Of course I figured this was some trick being played on the group, I suspected Ryoko giving how she usually is but it was actually the whole group playing a trick on Ataru, I did like that reveal as well as how Lum was an unplanned guest and Mendou had to get her alone and tell her at one point. How naive of them to think it would cure Ataru’s “flirtatiousness” tho lol.

This really did have the horror vibe right tho despite a few silly kills, the location and the atmosphere really sold it imo, and of course you gotta throw a Lighthouse in there which helps if you’ve seen the 2019 movie “The Lighthouse” and it ended up being a great spot for the final confrontation. This probably scared some kids watching it back in 83 lol.

Great episode.

Also I like to take a minute to appreciate the great background music this series had.

They did horror really well in this one. I figured there would be some sort of twist to bring everybody back, but this one worked really well as a stand alone episode. Also it was super sad that Ataru's reaction to Lum's death was that they were supposed to die as a pair.
