What happened to Hikari ?

I know the show was divided 4 Episodes for each girl
But then in each arc , what's the relationship between Hikari and The main character?
They seemed to know each other very well
What happened exactly? Didn't they graduate from high school?
Or is it parallel worlds or what's going on? XD

Each arc is for a different girl, as such everything that happened in the previous arc didn't happen in this one. Also he already knew who Hikari was before summer cram school, he just wasn't her friend.
