Rinko in this tears this episode D:
I don't think it was a good idea for Souta to blame Rinko for the bad cooking. Everyone messes up sometimes. Good thing Rinko has people to care for her.

Imo, this was the most emotional and realistic episode yet. Family problems can be tough to deal with.

Memories of lost parents and forgotten desires. My goodness, will I ever be able to make it through an episode of this show without crying?

Did Poco cause the vision of Souta's and Rinko's parents? He seemed to; his ears and tail grew, and then the entire scene became dreamlike. A second alternative is that the coming of the vision is what caused Poco to change, not the other way around. The final possibility is that it was not a fantastical event at all, just Rinko's imagination going wild.

What do you all think? My guess is it was fantastical, and caused by Poco.

I thought the last episode was my favorite but this one clearly topped it, Wonderful episode. Very emotional yet very heartwarming.

Congratulations to Rinko for becoming a Mom. :D

The flashbacks with Rinko and Souta dealing with the death of their mom was really sad. The cooking scene in particular was really poignant.
That being said, It's really nice to see how all these events and memories have shaped Souta and Rinko as adults.

I'm sure that Souta and Rinko's parents are proud of how well their children grew up.
I'm guessing Poco created the whole memory experience, was nice of him to do that.

I just began to ship Shinobu and Rinko T-T dreams were shattered...but I guess it's better that way (would be too much of an ex machina thing, like Shinobu is searching for a wife and Rinko has plans to get divorced)

Very emotional episode :( A little bit more of Poco would not have hurt though :3 He's sooo adorable.

I will miss this anime once it's finished....

Lovely & Sweet episode.

Poor Rinko tried her best to cook back then & now.
So emotional losing their Mom.
Congrats on being pregnant. You're gonna be a great MOM.

Nakajima & Marriage Interviews. Would love to see how that turns out.

Festival Next Week.

I checked a bit of japanese Tanuki mythology, it seems that Tanuki indeed were also known for illusory magic (more to play tricks on people etc.)

This can't be just me, but I'm bad with people crying in anime. This episode was certainly not helping.
I hope at least by the finale, we see Rinko's husband.
GaoGao-chan Episode: If they want a tokusatsu reference, it is clearly Kamen Rider not Ultraman, the vice governor is Agito, after all.

Oh boy, please. Poco, don't dead now. LOL
So that's the "emotional" part everyone's talking about. And Nakajima realize something about Rinko's acting weird.

So Rinko was acting funny because she's going to be a mom. She tried her best to make food, but no one liked it. Souta felt bad about it. Him and Nakajima finding out she's going to be a mom was funny xD There was so many feels in this episode. Especially at the cemetery when Souta and Rinko saw their memories. That must be because of Poco's powers. Losing your parents can be tough. Rinko tried her best to help around. This is my favorite episode so far. It was very heartwarming and emotional.

This show. Too good. I love these characters and their interactions. Pretty emotionally charged episode. Rinko is gonna be a mommy and is worried if she's good enough. She tries cooking for this reason but fails big time. Souta says some mean things but then apologizes. And Poco really is that tanuki god or whatever with how he gave the two siblings that flashback. And Souta also saw that he had said that he wants to make udon like papa so maybe he'll pick up the restaurant after all, even though he took that job at Shodoshima.

I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF POCO'S CUTENESS!!!! Poco is just so cute that somehow wherever he goes he always brings happiness or smiles. Plus the scene where Poco suddenly show the memory both Souta and Rinko had when they were gives, brought tears to my eyes. I hope Rink could become a good mother just like her mother was.

More of Souta and Rink's past were revealed as well. Seeing rinko in tears when Souta didn't wake up from his accident and Nakaji trying to comfort her was so cute!!Also seeing their past, crying because they miss their mother, was super cute. I almost cried because of this

Really excited to see what this anime have in store for us for next week's episode

Teared up when Rinko and Souta tell their parents what they're going to be when they grow up. I think Souta can actually learn how to make udon from his father if only his classmates in high school(?) didn't tease him for it. Now with him being a grown up and returning to his hometown I wonder if he'll actually really learn how to make udon or will he continue to be a graphic designer. Rinko finally decides and become a mom after meeting Poco and that confession from Nakajima though :D Although I hope at the very least he won't be dating any girls by the end of this show because I still wanna ship him and Souta |・ω・)

With Poco as a tanuki and having live for lots of years I'm curious whether Poco will ever grow tall at all. If he were to live with Souta and still able to kept his identity as a tanuki a secret would people be suspicious if he were to still be in the same condition as he is now in the future?

I swear at least 30% of the dialogue this episode was dedicated to Mai Nakahara crying.

As heartwarming as that scene at the end was, all it does is raise more questions about Poco, namely because he apparently has the power to show people their memories. Just kinda comes out of left field really, but it makes the final couple of episodes pretty interesting I suppose.

Well, we knew from the start he was a fantastical creature. We have also seen his language skills grow in almost every episode. So I don't find it surprising that his magic skills might be growing too.

I'm beginning to wonder if Souta's finally going to reopen his father's restaurant. We've been getting hints of that a lot, and this episode we got confirmation that Souta is a good cook. There was also the illusion of their parents and Souta telling his father he wants to become a udon cook like him. Since Rinko told her mother she wants to become a mum too and is finally getting there it would make sense for Souta to fulfill his dream as well.

I'm really sad because there's only 2 episodes left and it doesn't seem enough to resolve both the udon situation + Poco's powers and him being a tanuki. :( I wish this anime was longer. Or there should be a second season at least haha.

I think the 'Udon' title is more about the udon prefecture, where they are living in than the food itself. It is about going back home and finding that lost dream they had as children.

man, i love this anime, its PRETTY RARE to find an anime where a grown up (age 29-32) bond between brother/sister/friend gets played out right/decent

Does help the VA"s are ridiculously good.

Shame almost no one watches it due the dumb summary~ (gives the idea its a cooking show again~)

Man, this show has really picked up in these past two episodes. Not that it was bad until now, but it did feel a bit stagnant after the first few episodes, because the story wasn't progressing much.

So I guess Nakajima didn't get married until now because he hasn't gotten over his unrequited love for Rinko.

Lovin each and every episode! They certainly give you all the feels. :P

I've asked before on an individual thread, but does anyone know what the guitar song/theme is? It was used in the very beginning of this episode. I ask because I like learning and playing songs like this and "going home" from bleach.

Rin-ane is already pregnant!
Nakajima will do marriage interviews...for me that useless, if you naturally DON'T love a girl, its basically worthless.
Aneki's cooking is bad but Souta apologized at the end.
is that the hidden power of Poco? reliving the memories of the past?!?
4/5.
