A bit of man service, whatever... Nice OVA, it wasn't bad, but as a standalone doesn't make really sense, and doesn't conclude the story at all. 7/10 |

If this was a series, then the tone of the anime would be a little on the boring side. But as just one OVA, I liked it. The mundane tone made if feel very slice of life. The jellyfish syndrome was interesting, and I liked the natural character interactions. Story wise, it was iffy. There was no resolution with Misaki running away, even if he did send a letter back home. Although I guess if he really liked the Kurage Shokudou and wants to stay there forever, that works too. I don't think there are many people who can leave their life behind, but Misaki seems to be at a good and stable place, I can see why it's a comfortable place for him to stay at. Actually the more I think about it, the more I see this as a solid slice of life. We're only seeing a bit of these people's life, but I don't think we need to know more about what will happen. The jellyfish syndrome is rather random, or maybe it's supposed to mean something more? Idk though, Arashi's brother loved and was loved, he also had Arashi, I don't think he really wanted to disappear. Perhaps I'm thinking too much, but it's hard to think that there was no meaning to the jellyfish syndrome. If I wrote a story and incorporated something like that, I'd use it as a metaphor or something and not just because I think it's interesting. It seems like the jellyfish motif is what gave birth to this story. Maybe I'll think about it more later... |

Eh to me, this was below average. Character designs looks okayish but I wasn't into the story at all. The standard 30 minute OVA length works here I guess although I would of preferred if this was a movie with higher production quality. And considering how long it took (this was announced quite awhile ago), I wasn't impressed. The whole jellyfish drama didn't impress me either, perhaps if they made it more entertaining with the character interactions, it would of worked. |

Jellyfish syndrome spoiler I might just live under a rock and this is obvious to everyone else, but seems a few people are confused. Jellyfish Syndrome isn't real, his brother killed himself. |

Jellyfish Syndrome isn't real, his brother killed himself. That did cross my mind, but as I said in my initial comment, "Arashi's brother loved and was loved, he also had Arashi, I don't think he really wanted to disappear." And I meant disappear in the same way you meant. I just couldn't see enough hints that would lead to that. But I guess it could be a metaphor for depression or something similar. "At first he wasn't showing any symptoms" and "in the end, he couldn't live outside the fish tank (the restaurant? himself?)." It would be more concrete if in the end, we hear about Arashi's Jellyfish Syndrome fading away or something. |

wow i'm surprised how poorly received this is. I don't find the characters lackluster at all, especially for an ova that's 30 minutes long..... 9/10 very refreshing to watch |

Too sentimentality, too many personal tragedies, for 30 minutes. A little shorter and less dramatic would have been more effective, or the same but with 80 minutes with better character development. In short it, i did not like. 3/10. 3/10. |

For man that disgusting but for most female audience that entertainment. Even without that scene arashi already showing his half-naked body almost in every scene. That count as manservice too IMO. |

Contrary to popular opinion, I quite liked this short OVA. In the beginning, I did not remember why it was in my watchlist but long story short: I think it was a pretty nice OVA, it kinda has a soothing feeling to it and I would recommend watching it. |

I mean it was decent. But that ending and lack of real conclusion was really underwhelming. Like fuck, he just goes inside to go to bed and that's it. I mean it kind of had potential, with it hinting that Arashi would eventually die and Misaki would take over the store...but...nope. Shuhan said: It felt gay at times. Especially when he came back from swimming and that single bead of water streamed seductively down his bare chest. They did that on purpose because that bead of water went down the part of his chest where it glows. They did it on purpose. I had the same thought as you at first until he did the whole thing in the fish tank. Then there was one more scene where they did the exact same water drip down the chest again and made the glow more noticeable. So I was like "oh that's why they emphasized it earlier". |

This could be good if they don't bring that supernatural staff... that jellyfish thing was so unnecessary and stupid... Animation was nice, First part was good, really good... This series was lot of potential... how you can ruin this bring this supernatural staff... eh... -.- |

I wasn't surprised by the manservice since it's about people living by the sea after all and I didn't mind it :P It managed ta evoke some feels from me, not to the point of crying but enough to move me in a way at least. The art wasn't bad; it was pretty nice despite being generic nowadays. That Jellyfish Syndrome scene might've looked random and unnecessary but it was a beautiful scene anyway. This was good lol why are people so critical xD (rhetorically speaking) |

The basis of their relationship is very unrelatable, this kinda ruined the entire OVA for me. Just think about it, a dude got washed ashore, some guy picked him up and let him stay at his home, without the least bit suspicious. The interaction felt very unnatural, there's no chemistry between the characters. Then, midway it got weird, like, I don't even get the point of the drama, or even the existence of that weird supernatural-ish disease. They didn't even conclude anything, like, what's the point even? |

Wow, a jellyfish syndrome, hmm it sounded hogwash, but I'll take it nonetheless! But I wish Misaki met with his parents though, instead of just writing them a letter he didn't want BTW! It Would've been the best thing ever, as he would lay out his feelings about the whole brother ordeal. I was disappointed that he only cared about staying with arashi, rather than facing his problems on, it felt like he was running away from the mist rather than walk towards it. It is a good story but it lacks more meaning and sharpened bonds. It felt like a start of a series episode rather than a tell all OVA. I have to agree that it needed a full movie to fly well or even a full series. Animation it was nice, I've seen way worse than this. The characters seem to have a possibility to develop further, so I'm happy in that department. 7/10. |

Reading this comments here feels like the OVA went completely over their head but I guess this type of OVAs are treated like this here. Anyway, it needed a little bit more runtime to flesh things up a bit or could have just used another episode to expand upon it or show something just as an epilogue. The voice acting is a bit weird, it kind of fits the tone the anime is trying to be, but also at the same time it seems a bit out of place. Nice to see this didn't turn into an excessive drama, and it was fine for what it presented. The directing was one of the best aspects about this, it was really able to convey the subtle and slow atmosphere around the beach, especially for someone's directorial debut. Looks like his latest works have been at Nut, hopefully he gets the chance to direct something in the future. 7/10 |

Despite being short I enjoy watching the story, it's simple and calming to watch. I was surprised when the Jellyfish Syndrome was introduced, sounds terrifying. |
