| I didn't expect anything when I started watching this lol I didnt even read the synopsis I just thought it was some strategic poker anime... orz so to put it short: i was positively surprised. dont know where this show is going but i m totally anticipating next episode! (i hope i ll start to like sakuma in the near future because he was slightly annoying in ep 1) |

| The ending certainly left me with questions. If the general staff wants to get rid of the D-Agency, why approve the idea of having one in the first place? And why are the spies smiling like they one-upped the lieutenant? If this operation fails, then their agency might get shut down as well after all. Maybe the spy group already have a backup-plan and are just messing with Sakuma for a bit to prove their point with the joker game. Other than that, enjoyable first episode. |

| Now this is one anime I'll be having high expectations of. Sakuma is the rigid type huh.. besides that the rest of the guys are really interesting. That cliff at the end already had me eager to see what happens next. No complains on art, animation or osts, all are fantastic imo. Let's watch if this can take the top this season. |

| The beginning was kind of cringy with the English. At least they were alright at speaking it. I don't get why they feel the need to speak English though since the man spoke Japanese later. OP is pretty catchy, so that's a plus. |

| Man, that soldier dude is pretty stupid. I'm interested to see what kind of show this will develop into though. I can see it either being an actiony sort-of show or one based around political stuff. Hoping for the latter. |

There are better mal discussions in shows heavily advertised as mystery (subete ga F, RnY, Sakurako, etc...). But if a show isn't clearly labeled mystery (even if show itself is obviously mystery genre, like Punchline, K, Concrete Revolutio etc), it becomes plothole/bad writing complaints. Btw, you'd find the Kabaneri thread even more frustrating... Sakuma appears a very rigid man stuck to military protocol. It'd be surprising, or "out of character", if he suddenly thinks up a solution. Some aid from the spies might be more reasonable. Currently they've no reason to help. But if Sakuma makes a deal, like giving the smoke in the joker game, he can bring a spy to his side. Thanks for that i just went on reddit for Mayoiga and it was so much better there,well for joker game i thought maybe they will plant some evidence or Miyoshi will help him out i could be wrong though |

| I'm not gonna lie, I was a little concerned about the politics, but I thought they did it very well. I am a bit confused about the end part, what were they trying to teach him? Am I not supposed to know yet? (Rhetorical questions, don't reply XD) I'll probably see as soon as I watch episode 2 (probably tonight) |

| I don't like the MC since he is so un-spy-like.. not sure how to describe it, but the show itself says spies are known for being very mischivous, smart, and the like. MC so far maybe is a bit perceptive, but also very oblivious (The way the american guy acted here... anyone would have noticed it. I mean he spilled out everything for no particular reason.. or does he have a reason? I do hope this will be explained in the upcoming eps). Also I actually like the character designs but so far no character had any charm to them... Like in Baccano you have a lot of different characters with very distinctive personalities, which makes the show so interesting and also entertaining (the infamous comedy-duo e.g.), here they feel so lifeless and dull... Being an adult or having an adult-cenetered show does not mean the characters need to be so.... uninteresting :s Oh well, hopefully all of my worries will disappear later on. I quite like the setting (although I think they could have done so much more with it... considering episode 1 is supposed to be the one that captures the audiences interest... that was not done well here) |

| Average start, failed to captivate right at the start but the episode is a two-parts one. I hope it will make me read the book(s). But an internal conflict between organisations in the same "dictatorship" is promising. (if this happens to be the core of this first story who started the trilogy). Like everyone before me: the faces of every agent were so similar, I only noticed some size differences. 3/5 Seppuku* Jacksworld said: having Japanese female spies would have been highly unlikely so I think they are just trying to be realistic and also if they added a female character I'd be more worried that they would use her as the seductress spy which would just be an annoying cliche, this will be interesting if we actually do see the guys seduce a female for example. @Fai There is an actress on the movie adaptation poster if you want to check what her role was like. No idea how faithful it is to the novel but I read it was terribly bad. I also think a woman spie would seem a bit out-of-place, but on the opposite hand the fictional agency is supposed to recruit people out of the normal pool (but again, not sure if there was any highly educated woman out there) |

| the first time i watched it i thought sakuma was one of the spies. i only got he was kind of an observer after reading the thread and watching it again. i really like the atmosphere in here. it's different and hell, i've been trying to watch every single first episode of the season and most of them feel like deja-vus. they kinda look the same, but i don't think i'll have a problem after stanning kpop groups with 7+ members and learning how to differentiate them. [oh exo... /sighs] i'll maybe have problems with the names, but... anyway, i think i'm gonna cheat on my watching order and download the next one just because of that cliffhanger and |

But might change the group's dynamics too much. That might work in later arcs however. Female Japanese spy was a real thing in history. In fact there were a few famous Japanese female spies during WW2 who got caught in China and executed. This series did a very good job at demonstrating the indoctrination so far. |

| Maaaan everyone schooled the hell outta Sakuma. This is a true gentleman's club. As soon as they revealed the true nature of Joker Game I was hooked. Lots of great talking points and insights into the minds of these spies already. This quote in particular summed up the frailty of things such as patriotism, honor, and conviction. "If Japan lost the war, the people would promptly learn to take all their faith and put it in the antithesis of their original beliefs." |

| Even though anime looks good and has interesting conception still it's kind of trying too hard to convince a viewer that spies are smart when typical soldier MC is an idiot by default. In fact that bunch of spies looks like potential traitors with such attitude since they don't believe in anything, not loyal and obsessed with successes and surviving by any means. Also ending of 1-st episode is pretty stupid, why the hell MC would do harakiri just because someone else said that MC will do it? It has no sense. |
