Can someone give me an explanation for this movie??

*SPOILERS* Alright, So we all seen the ending by now and how rushed it is. Why does it appear all normal at the ending, when Ikaros flies back down with Tomoki , Then cuts back to the scene where they're at the sky and then Ikaros pretty much kills herself by sending herself and Tomoki to the Synapse?
I am REALLY confused, can someone please explain this?? Or in matter of fact, explain the whole damn movie for me?? Why would this ruin such a great show?

Basically the movie has two parts, the majority of the movie is just different parts of the manga lump together into a slice of life moment. The starting and ending of the movie is actually the final arc of the manga. The problem with this series is that season 2 deviates too much from the manga, however it seems that the production team still wants to conclude this series, that's probably why we get this disjointed movie. I really recommend everyone to read the manga, the whole story is tied up quite nicely

Basically, imagine that the final arc for this show has 2 parts. The only animated the first. Lots of stuff happened after Ikaros self-destructed in the manga.
