I gotta be honest their are a lot of different opinions on the movie announcement some people are happy some people aren't happy but they are trying to have a positive outlook and some people are just straight up angry and I am one of those. Before I talk about why I am angry I feel like people's varying opinions are interesting. For starters you have fans who are saying be thankful your getting an Accel world movie because you probably weren't going to get anything better than that then you have the people who say this movie well have a teaser for season 2 I want to talk about the second one more in depth but for the people who are saying be thankful I gotta be honest after waiting 4 years and getting this movie how can I be happy I can't think of any possible reason to be happy about this announcement. As for the whole season 2 teaser being in the movie and the reason why people are saying this is because apparently it has happened to a lot of other series were in between seasons their well be a movie and then that movie well tease the next season. Also when people bring up this argument they talk about SAO and how the movie well have a teaser for season 3. When it comes to SAO people need to realize that regardless of if their is a movie or not a season 3 well happen SAO is so popular that their isn't even a one percent chance that a season 3 isn't happening. I think the way we need to look at the AW movie and the SAO movie is why are they being made to begin with. With SAO I think it's pretty obvious that this movie is taking the spot of a season 3 which everyone was speculating to come out this year and with AW the writer has said multiple times a season 2 is going to happen eventually so why is a movie happening then. Back in 2014 the writer said sunrise is busy with love live I personally don't know much about love live but I hear it's nowhere close to being over but still why are we getting this movie over a second season it doesn't add up. Personally I am just really frustrated I love AW and it really disappoints me that their is no season 2 yet and it's been 4 years. |

this is the reason why i dont watch much anime adaptations of ongoing source material, because most of the time the anime adaptation is just one giant teaser/preview of the manga or light novel, if you really want to know what will happen next you got to read the light novel or manga i also like Accel World but there is no point complaining of when an anime sequel will come out, there is even a high chance that there will be no anime sequel at all because of this business model around anime adaptations of ongoing source materials |

My biggest peeve is that most people are going to have to wait like 6 months after the movie's release to watch it. |
I envy your delusion; I wish I could live in it |

Moved from Accel World TV anime sub-board I will admit that it felt like it came out of nowhere. It's also an anime I didn't really look forward to a continuation of, specifically after its peculiar ending. Whatever happens, I'm hoping that things work out, as a movie is gonna be rough to fill the shoes of an actual second season as you said. That being said, I'm not gonna enjoy seeing the inevitable shots at Haru's appearance again. |

The thing so weird about the anime is how they went about it the story doesn't take place in the same order as the light novels if that makes any sense. Basically season 1 was based on chapter's 1-4 and then chapter 8 and 9. It just made no sense that's why in one of the episodes Haru reached Level 2 and then the episode right after that he was a level 4 all the sudden. |

from what I'm reading here you really want this Movie to fail which means No season 2 Sunrise is doing this to see if there is still interest for Accel world if the movie dose well it means people want more accel world if no one supports it that also means no one cares about AW if you love the franchise like you say you do you will support this movie to get more AW ( and a season 2 to boot )) |

I more than likely well watch the movie but that doesn't mean I am happy it's a movie rather than a season 2. Their is no reason why we still don't have a season 2 their are plenty of light novels to animate still and Kawahara himself said he wanted a season 2 if he really did want it he simply could have gone to another animation studio to do it. Here is my thing if sunrise openly comes out and says we are working on a season 2 but here is a movie to hold you over I would actually be happy but the fact that this is a movie and the fact that they were hiding the fact that it was a movie when it was announced in October is probably an indicator that even they aren't confident in this. Last October they basically announced Infinite burst didn't tell us what the heck it was and then they stayed quite until now were as with SAO they were completely open telling everyone it was a movie. Ironically this Accel world movie is coming out before the SAO movie even though we knew the SAO movie was a movie before Infinite burst. The whole situation was very strange personally when they didn't tell us last october if it was a movie or a season 2 I was hoping that we were just supposed to assume it was a season 2 but I guess I was wrong. |

Because people in japan wanted more Accel world and Reki told that to sunrise and knowing sunrise they wanted to confirm that interest But a season 2 takes a lot of money and the only way for Sunrise to see if there is interest is through this movie also the SAO movie has no release date unlike Accel world so for all we know the SAO movie could come in the Spring |

In about 10 days time we will find the answer to our question. Part of me really hopes they announce Accel world season 2 but I suspect that if they do announce it it's probably going to be months after the movie comes out because they have to analyze how well the movie did and how many more light novels were sold. Hopefully we get a season 2. |
