According to a notice displayed at Shosen Book Tower in Akihabara, the anime adaptation of Monogatari Series: Final Season's Owarimonogatari will air on TV in Fall 2015. Production of the series was hinted last week when animator Hiroko Kazui listed Owarimonogatari on her online portfolio. In 2012, animation studio Shaft announced it would be animating all of Nisio Isin's Monogatari Series novels. The annual Tanabata Museum exhibition featuring art from the Monogatari Series opens today at Shosen Book Tower and will run through July 10. Source: Twitter Owarimonogatari on MAL |

Owarimonogatari has 3 volumes so it should be at least 1-cour. But there's also Koyomimonogatari and Zoku Owarimonogatari, so they might make 2-cours covering all remaining 5 volumes. |

Is that supposed to be a Tokyo Ghoul parody? In any case good lord this industry and how it comes up with ideas for original anime and chooses to make use of staff "talents", it's only getting worse it feels to the point where it's so hard not to take it all as a complete joke these days. I don't think there's any sort of new standard being set here, it's just par for the course for how the industry goes about designing TV original shows nowadays and what it's priorities are, namely the continued rise of the importance of the character designer brand recognition and making use of eroge industry people. At the very least I can say throwing a bunch of popular erotic character designers together for an original anime project doesn't strike is as quite a horrible idea as throwing a bunch of popular erotic game writers into a project but still what is the industries obsession with getting people from that scene to do this shit of late and really just seeming to embrace these full on erotic ideas for original anime with no sign of any other sort of plan for the shows. I guess this is what the industry wants to be known for nowadays in terms of things that aren't adapted from some other source. Like I don't know, I just continue to get the vibe that they've got absolutely nothing beyond eroticism anymore. It used to be called fanservice because it was occasional "service" to the fans, not because it was the backbone of the show itself. I don't know lol, it's a laughing stock. The best I can hope for nowadays is that somebody, somewhere will find some good material to adapt and have the budget to do it. Like why do these sorts of things need to be TV shows, it would make a ton of sense as an eroge or something one could play at their own leisure if they so wanted to, but instead it's considered a good idea to have it use up a TV slot somewhere. I just fundamentally don't believe that made for TV anime was set up to be a glorified extension of the hentai/doujin scene like it's often felt for the most part in this decade. Let the two be separated by some sort of buffer. I confess to being a fan of the guys artwork. Doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things here though. |

Honestly, if you're focusing on originality and story alone, Monogatari is one of the best supernatural 'harem'-esque shows out there. It's not fair to reduce it to some bottom-of-the-barrel ecchi anime, so I'm not sure what your problem is with all of this. I'm not the biggest fan of the series, either, but my problems are mostly with its visual side and presentation, not so much its content. Sure, you could say it containing themes of incest and pedophilia is stupid, but it's not supposed to be anything smart—that kind of stuff is just there for the pleasure it brings the audience. Then again, I don't know what your blabber about character designers and the state of the industry is for; it seems completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. Monogatari is a light novel series getting adapted by a studio that has always stayed loyal to it. That's all there is to it. |

Great news that it's going to release this year. Anyway, I have no idea what you people are arguing about and I don't even care, you guys are too serious about anime, but can someone just make a rough estimation of how many episodes this arc can get? |

It sometimes makes conversations awkward when people talk about it to me expecting me to like it and have a frame of reference like seemingly every other anime fan and then I have to say "actually...errr...." pretty much. Oh well, I'd say good for the fans too, but I'm not exactly on good terms with them so I'll just say it looks like they're trying to finish it up now and not have an Inuyasha kind of situation. Incidentally is their such a thing as hype which I know is an important state to a lot of people not being real with MAL? Oh, I forgot that I was talking to a special snowflake here or at least someone who loves to feel like one. |
