original cast, finally i can hear the voice of tentamon again (TAKAHIRO SAKURAI) :) only here voice is familiar, other seiyuu is old, but here voice is one of the latest.
When it comes to voicing Digimon, and male human characters, their old seiyu are still quite okay, and usually female voice actresses can voice male characters for years, or creatures like Digimon.

As for Mimi, Sora, and Hikari, I wonder if Kae Araki (if she reprises her role as Hikari) can still sound young, cause she sounded really mature in episode 664 of Detective Conan, but still...

For Sora too, not sure if Yuko Mizutani can still act like a young girl, but Ai Maeda (Mimi) definitely sounds young as ever as Karen Minazuki in Precure series.

Actually, this is from Digimon Adventure game from 2013...

And here we can hear Kae Araki as Hikari.

I don't know, I myself only checked these videos from 2013 game after mentioning how Ai Maeda still sounds young as Karen in Precure series, but I'm surprised at how Kae Araki can still voice little Hikari so well, and according to japanese Wiki, Kae mostly works as voice actress in some games these days.

Same for other original seiyu, I'd say they still sound rather very good, although Megumi Han replaced Hiroko Konishi as Takeru, but then again Digimon Adventure 02 Takeru was voiced by Taisuke Yamamoto, so he could probably reprise his role in Tri too...

And here characters are still younger than in Tri.

In Xros Wars, the Adventure Agumon sounded more like a Shoutmon with a sore throat and Taichi also didn't quite sound like himself. If it weren't for the PSP game, I would be worried about the performance of the seiyuu. However, as I played the PSP game, I noticed that I can't really hear any difference between the voice acting of Adventure and the voice acting of the game.
I haven't watched all of Adventure in Japanese so my judgment may not be the most reliable but I'm not worried about the seiyuu's performance. Also, even if the voices were slightly changed, it would be perfectly explainable because of voice break.

Yes. Why wouldnt they? Of course, im expecting the male characters to have deeper voices. As long as the voice is not annoying, then who cares about the voice actors ages. If they can do a good job, then hire them.

Im always reminded of the anime Kirarin Revolution. In that anime, the two male MC were voiced by "older" voice actors for 100 episodes. Then after that, they were both replaced by two younger voice actors.... and yeah.... it was not that popular.

Bottom line: Its not like the voice actor voices got deeper and stuff.

And besides, one of the most annoying things in anime is having a male character that is 12 and older and he is being voiced by a chick.

I hope all the original voices are there.

Fans can be kind of crazy. If there's a drastic change, it probably won't be well received.

One of the female voice actresses I think could come back and reprise the role of their male character would be Romi Paku for Ken, but then that's because of the voice types she tends to do. The chances of him being in Tri is slim though. I honestly didn't mind any of the male voices for most of the male cast and so wouldn't mind if the characters weren't forced to become more mature sounding voice wise.

Well. I have watched the brazilian dub as a child, but after growing up and having the chance to watch the original dub without the cuts, I never really watched the dub of my country ever again.

I've seen both. My brother's dyslexia also makes watching dub a lot easier for him, and if we watch something with subtitles together it takes a lot longer then watching it by myself. I think whether voice actors will reprise their roles will depend on whether they are still alive and haven't retired.

I watched the English, Japanese, and Filipino dubs. Very interesting comparisons in terms of voices. I haven't found the Filipino dub again since *shakes fist at YouTube*, but I still do enjoy the English dub. I honestly feel some of the voices fit better than they did in Japanese, though it's the same vice-versa.

This'll be my first time watching Digimon as it airs over in Japan, so I'm looking forward to hearing the original voice actors again, especially since I typically know them better from the songs than from the show itself. (Think we'll get new character songs?) It's natural if their voices have changed, it's been 16 years now, but props to them if they can still sound the same even though it'd be a bit weird coming out of those bodies. Even if some of them don't come back, it won't bother me as long as the voice-acting's good (or at least sounds good to these English ears). That's really all that matters in the end.

Now the English dubbing will be interesting, if you ask me. Despite being retired, Joshua Seth himself said he's willing to be Tai again if Saban approaches him. I know Lara Jill Miller's still around, so I can still see her doing Kari again, and I think Mona Marshall's still in the business, but I don't know about the others. I don't even know if some of the staff in Saban who worked on Digimon in the past are still working there, though I don't think they're completely out-of-touch, either, so they may come back. It's only wild mass guessing at this point, but I think the English dub is in for a bumpy ride. We'll see.

I was actually wondering if the person who did Tai's English voice was retired due to the fact I couldn't find anything recent from him. I think it would be odd if he didn't come back. I don't think he cares about the money, but simply wanting to reprise a role he liked doing. That or he wants to do it for the fans. Who knows.

It was probably all of the above. Joshua Seth sounds like a nice guy, and his real voice is like a deeper version of Tai's lol, so it wouldn't be hard for him to get back into character. But it looks like according to one of his posts he'd like to do Tai again for the nostalgia.

Well, there's no reason for either Agumon or Taichi's voice to change - both Chika Sakamoto and Toshiko Fujita were already old when Adventure aired.

1999 ages
Toshiko Fujita (Taichi): 49, now she's 65.
Chika Sakamoto (Agumon): 40, now she's 56.

Yuuto Kazama (Yamato): 29, now he's 45.
Mayumi Yamaguchi (Gabumon): 24, now she's 40.

Yuko Mizutani (Sora): 35, now she's 51. She can still sound like Sora. She plays Excellen Browning in Super Robot Wars and sounds really girly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWmWlxDiD0o This game is from 2012.
Katori Shigematsu (Piyomon): 31, now she's 47.

Ai Maeda (Mimi): 24, now she's 40.
Kinoko Yamada (Palmon): 29, now she's 45.

Masami Kikuchi (Jou): 39, now he's 55.
Junko Takeuchi (Gomamon): 27, now she's 43. She sounds the same as always. XD Takuya, Naruto, kid Lambo, kid Sabo...

Kae Araki (Hikari): 33, now she's 49.
Yuka Tokumitsu (Tailmon): 30, now she's 46.

Umi Tenjin's (Koushiro) age is unknown.
Takahiro Sakurai (Tentomon): 25, now he's 41. It's pretty much a given he's going to sound the same as he did 15 years ago. His voice hasn't changed in two decades. ...That reminds me, Ace of Diamond's second season!

Taisuke Yamamoto (02 Takeru): 23, now he's 39. Takeru's voice was a girl in Adventure and a guy in 02 - it wouldn't make sense to go back to having a girl's voice.
Megumi Han (PSP Takeru): 24 in 2013, now she's 26. ...If they retcon Takeru's voice back to a girl.
Hiroko Konishi (Adventure Takeru): quit voice-acting in 2001.
Miwa Matsumoto (Patamon): 28, now she's 44.

Reiko Kiuchi (Daisuke): 31, now she's 47.
Junko Noda (Veemon): 28, now she's 44.

Romi Paku (Ken): 27, now she's 43.
Naozumi Takahashi (Wormmon): 28, now he's 44. ...Don't get me started. He still sounds as youthful and boyish as always. Listen to this (it's from 2013 when he was 42).

Rio Natsuki (Miyako): 30, now she's 46.
Kouichi Toochika (Hawkmon): 28, now he's 44.

Megumi Urawa (Iori, Armadimon): 34, now she's 50.

PS. Voices don't really change quite THAT much. ...Hell, Hideyuki Tanaka, Toru Furuya, Toshio Furukawa and Mayumi Tanaka all sound pretty much the same as they did 30 years ago.

The major changes are always associated with a voice actor or actress hitting puberty. I'm also rather fond of Romi Paku's voice acting. I wouldn't want anyone else to do Ken if he was brought back, not unless they can find someone who can do a similar voice to hers. This said I've come across one voice actress who I can't remember the name of off the top of my head who does sound like her whose younger.

I know Tri has gotten new voice actors for most of the roles.

However, now it's even more certain that the original voice actors won't be coming back. Sora's original voice actress, Yuko Mizutani, died in 2016.

The German dub actually managed to grab 15 of the original 16/17/18 voice actors. The only one who has a new one was Izumi/Izzy, who had two different voice actors in Adventure and 02, while Takeru/T.K. retained his voice actor from 02.

I can't believed they did it, but that's not the first time, though. In Frontier, the voice actors of certain Digimon played the same Digimon in Frontier even though they weren't the same characters. Which was weird in the case of the Four Holy Angels, since they all became female in the German version for some reason, yet Patamon retained his original (male) voice from Adventure and 02.

In Savers, Gerald Schaale played that Agumon, too, even though that one was a completely different one. The weird part was that Biyomon's voice actress played Lalamon, while the Savers' Biyomon had a different actress. Now the German version will have two Rosemon with different actresses (which makes sense anyway). While even Cherrymon retained his voice from Adventure and 02, Magnamon and Dukemon don't?! (I guess Dynamon and LordKnigntmon, too, but it's impossible to tell because Savers' German dub altered the voices for stupid reasons).

I'm glad that at least in tri. the voices of the evolved Digimon are clear.
