AWESOME EP!

Wow, the slight of hand of that old guy was amazing, considering he's also blind.
When the narrator mentioned how low the chances are of getting a Tsumo after a Kan I laughed; thinking, "I wonder what Saki would say to that."

I wonder, and I myself occasionally get Rinshan. But that was still an awesome episode, Akagi is a damn genious.

Oh my gosh, before this episode I was like, this anime is so-so. It's interesting, but the are style annoys me. Now, I'm like, whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! The real story is just getting started! Go kick ass Akagi!

That's more like it. Strategy, deceit and manipulation, rather than sleights of hand. That's how a legend should play.
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

"They were the eyes of a child who grew bored with his toy."

That quote just pierced right through me.

Natural-born talent on the level of the Devil's own luck trumped Ichikawa's decades of experience as a master of Mahjong who's willing to pull off any sort of trickery to ensure that he'll win. Akagi lusts for more matches to the death until one of them dies penniless but the old man was absolutely crushed from his defeat and it looks like he knew his place.

I surely didn't expect a timeskip this early but I suppose that it would help me take him more seriously a lot because he surely didn't act and look his age lol

Insane guy and I don't want to know what has become of him after a 5 years time skip.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Ah that was some masterful play, I was played just like that old man. Following the flow of the show.

Behold of my awesomeness~

didn't want a time skip this early, but let's see what happens. that quote mentioned in older comments above held great impact for me as well... what makes a shrouded in mystery akagi tick, that money does not interest him in the slightest

This match was amazingly executed. The last match I thought it was inferior when compared to the manga, but this one is better in the anime. Potent directing, tight editing and Hideki Taniuchi's soundtrack make this great.

But the only thing that bothers me a bit is how constantly they reaffirm that Akagi's a genius. We get it already, the narrator does not need to constantly remember us about it. I don't remember it happening this much in the manga, but I might be wrong.
