So that was the second and final movie that came out with in the main anime’s runtime, I gotta say this one was pure fun the whole way through, I think I liked this one a good amount more than the first movie. Much like the first one, this was just another long episode with the budget of a movie, but there was a handful of things that made me like this one more, the first being the most obvious, the fanservice lol, good lord it was so good in this movie, from the start with the girls in swimsuits and then later in their bridal outfits, I swear their boobs were nearly out at times, especially Nabiki and Ukyo’s fits, Nabiki especially looked absolutely beautiful in this movie, I would absolutely be her pet lol, one of the best girls for a reason. And of course the movie looked amazing just like the first one, very nice art and animation throughout, as well as the backgrounds, very awesome stuff, I also liked the ost in this one along with that ending credits song.
And when it comes to the plot itself, yeah it was pretty simple, another damsel in distress situation, but this time it’s many damsels which imo is better than just Akane, it really gave us some great moments for each girl, not to mention Ranma who was looking amazing with that long red hair, probably the best he’s ever looked in his female form. And along with each of the babes came good moments for the men of the show, Kuno kinda got waxed but I liked his moment with Nabiki, Ryoga even pulled out his depression blast attack which was a nice callback, but the best of all was Mousse saving Shampoo, probably his best moment in the entire series, it really felt like he was a serious contender for Shampoo there, a shame he never got this kind of development in the main anime. And you also had the villains of the movie, imo they weren’t as interesting as the ones in movie 1 but I thought the whole floating island thing was really cool, and Prince Toma’s final battle with Ranma was a great climax to the movie, and of course we knew that spring water wasn’t gonna turn them back into men but I liked its inclusion too, it added a new layer to the battle, as well as the moment where Ranma chose to keep Akane as a woman over gaining his manhood back. And in the end Toma turned a new leaf, I mean that was probably the only way things were gonna end well anyway lol, and I was wondering about all the other women he kidnapped but the slideshow with the credits showed them chasing Happosai, so hopefully they weren’t forced to be with Toma’s men lol.
Yeah the ending was a bit rushed but the movie was so fun that I don’t mind it, probably one of the best adventures the Ranma cast has had. Sad that this is the last movie before the show ends when Urusei Yatsura had four movies in its runtime, but I think what Ranma got was good enough, they’re pretty safe movies plot-wise and didn’t quite reach the best of the Urusei Yatsura films, but I liked them a lot, I know we technically got a third movie but from what I’m seeing it’s significantly shorter, I’ll definitely be checking it out but yeah I wish it was longer lol. |
