Hello, just wanted to ask is it possible to watch and enjoy Gundam Unicorn without watching anything related to Gundam before? Or will I only be confused and bored?

Edit: And maybe you could also tell me why, because simple no or yes is not very convincing. :D

For a while it's fine as a standalone experience, but the last two episodes really can't be appreciated without a connection to previous Gundam series. I recommend putting this off until you at least see 0079, Zeta, and Char's Counterattack.

You can watch it and enjoy it, yes. But you'll enjoy it immensely more if you watch the prequels.

you can watch it but i would highly reccomend against it, its not even just appreciating certain things but youll also be completely lost at certain points, youll wonder who the fuck alot of the cameos are and wonder what the fuck a newtype is or who char is and a bunch of other questions.

plus gundam 079- CCA is worth watching on its own

Jizzy as you would call yourself because youre a dick The most butthurt award goes to you And clearly you havent watched that many shows thats why you cant determine if a show is unique or not Or maybe you're just a child who likes common stuffs where hero saves the day and guys gets all the girls. Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

CCA is just barely worth watching on it's own. Amuro and Char's final battle just barely tips it into that category.

CCA is worth watching just for this. Beautifully animated fighting sequences for its time.

I meant them as a whole in order, gripes aside i see the UC as more or less one 150 or so episode show thats got its highs and lows.

Gundam F91 is the only other post-CCA UC Gundam I plan to watch (unless you count Turn A). I know it's rushed / poorly paced / generally reputedly bad, but I'm going to watch it anyway.

After Zeta and CCA, should I continue in chronological order - Unicorn and then F91? Or should I continue in the original release order - F91 and then Unicorn?

I figure it probably doesn't matter, but decided to ask anyway.

You can do either way. F91 is in the same universe but it's pretty disconnected and not as direct sequel as Unicorn is. If you're not in a hurry to watch Unicorn I suggest watching F91 first because you'll be used to the old graphics and silly Tomino directing and I don't think you'll be able to appreciate the movie after witnessing the masterpiece that Unicorn is.

You watched the series then?! How did it go, how did you start and what was the order you chose?

Absolutely. Most of the relevant 1 Year War information is provided through dialogue and most of the key historical events are new to the canon, anyway.
