| The Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary CG film opened this weekend at #6. The film adapts Sanctuary arc from Masami Kurumada's original Saint Seiya mythological fantasy manga of "Bronze Saints vs. Gold Saints." Keiichi Satou (Tiger & Bunny, Ashura), is helmed the project, and Kurumada is credited as the original creator and chief production supervisor. | heard CGI is quite expensive not sure what they were thinking. Anime has a niche viewership to begin with. Offsetting 100million US$ when your target audience is limited to begin with ........ >_> sounds like a terrible business idea. tl/dr : CGI sucks >.> |

| Toei also just spent $30 million on the new Captain Harlock movie last year, but it didn't flop as hard as the Saint Seiya film did. These two movies are now considered the most expensive anime productions in history. I'm guessing Toei is so rich though that a few million dollars is nothing to them. |

| Depended too much on the Final Fantasy stuff. We have Harry Potter as Hyoga, ugly Deathmask, and all other kind of weirdness. Also, confining an important saga into one whole movie. But hey, it's a tribute movie. |

| Final Fantasy Advent Children has a 100 million budget too and that did not break any profit records too so relax Toei will not go bankrupt because of this, but ye this will be one of the movie flops in history |
