Oh shit!

Well, this episode was extremely good. I'm telling you, I'm loving Eden a little too much. I have fallen for the two main leads, I wonder what the hell is happening and what could happen. I love Akira's personality, he always brings up something to start conversation. Too cute. If this continues to be as amazing as it is for me, it'll probably end up on my favorites by episode 5.

Am I the only one who caught the whole "I went to Central Park to see the Statue of Liberty" part? The Statue of Liberty is nowhere near Central Park. o_o
XD hahaha yea I noticed that too, I think the sad thing was that I only noticed it because I heard "Central Park and Statue of Liberty" in japanese and then I noticed the subtitles and went...o_o huh?

It's most likely just mistranslation (I'm assuming you're following gg?) I'm debating on whether or not I should follow another group, I recently discovered the blah-ness of gss

~

I totally loved the episode, yet again I was in awe with the art and animation, pure eye candy~! The pace was good and like everyone else I love the interaction between Akira and Saki :3! My heart literally skipped a beat when there was a close up of Akira when Saki woke up in the plane, and when Akira grabbed Saki to take a picture. If only all of us girls can meet such a smooth guy like him XD!

Other than the romantic aspect of the anime, the mystery is definitely intriguing. I found it really freaky just how fast Juiz delivers whatever is asked of her. It just makes me wonder about "Selecao" and what their purpose is. Are they so important to the point that they have literally connections everywhere?

And how about Careless Monday (kinda made me think of Bloody Monday XD)? I found it odd how there was never a causality until the most recent missile attack.

Probably too early to say this, but I get a feeling that this will be the best Spring '09 anime :D!

gg just left out a comma. If you watch her hand while she is saying it, she clearly counts off Central Park and the Statue of Liberty as seperate things. The correct sub would be "I went to Central Park, to see the Statue of Liberty, walked the Brooklyn Bridge."

They don't have to mention the year. They showed enough close ups of the phones, that you can see it is indeed 2011.

Haha, I didn't even notice that. I guess I just like over-thinking things. lol

About the casualties, I'm sure there were injured people. It's too ridiculous if there are none. Saki was only saying that there were no deaths before. At least, that's how I understood it.
Yeah, people died in the eleventh and most previous attack. Even if there were injured people I still find it a bit too miraculous that not even one person happened to die. Even if the plan was to not kill anyone, that's a bit too well planned out.

So essentially this organization has 12 "messiahs" who are given a "duty" that they must perform. This organization does anything that the messiah requests in order to make the messiah's duty easier. However it costs money. Apparently there is no wrong or right way to use your power as a messiah.

My guess is Takizawa did something messed up in the past or something happened to him. So bad that he ordered the organization to wipe his memories.

Things that are not clear yet.
1) What happens when a "messiah" runs out of money? The detective looked like he only had 7,034 yen left.
2) What cant they use their money on and what are the rules of this game.
3) What's the significance of all this religious talk? Clearly you wouldn't hear or see the FBI, CIA, or NSA going all religious and start calling their operatives messiahs lol.
4) Was the cause of the Monday missile attack on Japan the work of a member of the organization? If so what was the purpose of wasting money on a missile attack?
5) What are the requirements in becoming a member of the organization? Is there an age limit, do you have to be related to a member? Are they test tube babies..etc?
6) How much authority and influence does the organization have?
Apparently a lot since they can have a Japanese cop come and snipe random people or have a airport manager come and escort you around lol.

@Tamaki-san - you know what 9/11 is right? Ground Zero has been tossed around billions of times on TV. I'm surprised you've never heard it before.

It's the Matrix I tell you, and Juiz is like the operator. The ones that carry out the orders are taken over by agents lol....

Bang.

I so want that phone...

Well so far, it seems hitjobs cost quite the penny. And judging by the ED, I think that blowing up incoming missiles isn't cheap either :P

Seriously, this anime seems like it'll be appealing to Americans. I wonder who'll license it... hope not Funimation.
Anyways, it seems like gg's subbing this after all.

By the way, I thought that there already are plenty of 9/11-related movies...

The more I think about it, the more I feel like this show is like Paycheck with Ben Affleck than it is The Bourne Identity. Akira purposefully erased his memories possibly because he knew something terrible, and the only way he could slow things down was if he didn't know something in particular. That's very similar to Paycheck, and not the Bourne Series, which was about some guy who was a government tool and lost his memory after a botched assignment.

But it doesn't really change the fact that there were a lot of references to Bourne in this show.

Me would be interested in the Bourne references. Me saw 1 only.

Damn interesting episode. Curious about the missile events, but what intregues me more is the "Juiz" and the organization.

I was personally happy that they managed to pronounce well a hard portuguese word, "Seleção (apears as Selecao)" but after a bit it just intreged me more. Juiz stands as Judge in portuguese as "Seleção" stands for selection, but can also stand for "group of selected people" and so on, so makes me wonder what Akira and the Detective really are for the organization or for the world to be "selected". They get selected for real obedience to their wills from part of Juiz? What is the money thing all about, how do they earn it or do they start with a fixed amount. What can they use the money for? (This reminded me of Zombie-Loan xD)How powerful can Juiz be, i mean can "it" actually change the world, if you have enough money to do so? Your wishes coming true comes with a great responsability. The Roman Number thingy (IV and IX) reminded me of the game XIII which has a similar premise in part.

The "Bang" reminded me both Cowboy Bebop and Crank. Sensing a lot of references in this anime to be honest.

Crying for the next episode xD

This series is extremely intriguing thus far. It feels a lot like an animated version of the Bourne series with some added twists. I wonder how the story will play out in the mere 9 episodes that remain.

And yes, "Bang!" is probably the best scene of any anime this season so far. Badass.

I can't wait to see what happens but this episode did feel melancholic. For some reason, I felt upset after watching. Maybe because of the fake detective.

ok well here ive gathered:

1: there are 12 Seleção(I through XII, their numbers are on the top of the phones)
2: there were 11 missiles that hit japan a year ago, so i think there is a connection there
3: another missile hit while akira and saki were on their way to japan
4: they are called messiahs
5: also juiz said its his responsibility to use the 9bil yen
6: this must be part of the noblesse oblige that keeps cropping up

i think that maybe there is some... super Seleção on its way, and the other 11 will have to save the world from him. :D

The best show this 2009. (Since Haruhi Suzumiya is not around although I love Haruhi-chan ONA's)

Easy to decipher the story

Akira have to kill Saki as planned but since she's very important to him in the past so he asked Juiz to wipeout Saki's memories of him. But the organization still wants him to kill her so he had Juiz to memory wipeout him as well in a certain point of time (He is naked left the car, then point the gun to Saki while she was busy throwing coins) then he recieved the memory wipeout process command at the exact time he asked from Juiz thus sealed his memories, knowing the exact time that he suppose to kill Saki, Akira is smart (since in episode 2, he regains a bit of his memory, so the best thing to say it's sealed) and almost hit by a car upon walking in the street naked with a gun then he asked the two police and Saki *that caught Saki trowing coins inside the White House missed the fountain* Two police after's him but they thought he disappeared in the fast moving truck *in reality he just jumped out of their sight* and return and talk to Saki.
*although in this episode where Akira done something with this memories part as the guy talking to himself.*

Now the organization is waiting for him and still doesn't know the real reason for sealing his memory with a huge amount in his cellphone. Seems the guy in the episode 2 would take charge of the plan that supposed to be no.9's job.

It seems Juiz is a special entity probably the one who holds the order in the world (makes me remember the GANTZ plot) that can do anything the bearer of the cellphone ask for
1. Akira asking Juiz to clear a path way for them with Saki
2. The other guy that has the cell asked Juiz to kill the two persons.
3. And that guy also asked to kill the witness as well.
4. Juiz is referring to Akira IX, "Noblesse Oblige", and also a messiah.

Messiah of NEET's !?
Saki is also one of those future NEET's? (since she is a burden to her sister's family)

Maybe called Messiah cause his job is to eradicate all NEET and future NEET in Japan and his organization make it possible that nobody died etc and everyone involved in the incident been through the Mind Wiping Process and forget about it. "Careless Monday" assumed to killed lots of NEET that day.

Two Episodes, too early to speculate but this is my speculations base on those episodes.

There is actually a guy dressed up as the Statue of Liberty in Central Park, who's become something of a tourist attraction himself in the last several years...

I liked how the anime made a rather huge leap of faith in assuming the Freedom Tower (or 1 World Trade Center, its official name) will actually be FINISHED in two years. :)

Actually, you can probably generalize the role of the Messiahs - to stimulate the economy. They get rid of people who are not officially 'there' (hence, no casualties in Careless Monday, since people who don't exist can't be casualties), they spend money to stimulate consumption, they have support from government.

Def-initely going in an interesting direction.
