this guy is so butt hurt, not many people of this generation are going to watch Gundam, like from 1979, people would gravitate to a show of their generation, just because something is old doesn't make it fucking good. dont be a fucking hipster " Oh i liked the original from the 70's." blah blah blah ,if for some reason you are 50 years old and grew up watching these old shows, fine i see you are heavily biased in your opinion and i understand where you are coming from, if you arent then you are just being a massive tool. just fucking realise. NOT EVERYONE SHARES YOUR OPINION. every point you stated was highly debatable. Things you debate a shows quality on. that bother me. 9 merchandise sales 6 Impact on General Pop Culture in Japan and the West 7 Impact on Otaku Culture in Japan and the West 1 Impact on Impact on industry both the anime and Original Manga had 2 TV Ratings in Japan [ Gross for movies Unit sales for OVAs 3 Manga Ka of the Sourcework NONE of THESE Determine Quality only Monetary value. What the hell does this have to do with a shows quality..... NOTHING Now. Here's my main gripe, aside from you going full WEABOO and calling a show bad, based on your Biased Opinion. You call it over rated. You call the music "abisamal" Ah Bee Sah Mal AHAHA wtf. Abysmal is the word you were looking for You see i had never heard of this series until a while ago. guess how i found out about it, THROUGH the soundtrack , The Soundtrack that I and a lot( and i mean a lot of people ) think is great, you cannot just say the quality is bad based on your own tainted opinion the sound track was a well put together and varied piece. with a lot of electronic music and classical thrown in i have listened to the entire soundtrack and it is far from bad in fact as a fan of music in general its good , REALLY good. you sir are extremely biased and have gotten under my skin. i don't even like the series but from an un biased point of view, its not bad. in fact enjoyable at times. it is people like you that make me angry when people call ME a weaboo, even as a joke it irksy me. have fun judging all of the anime with your fucked up judging system that by no means determines quality. HERE is what i and most sane people would judge a series by. Story,Characters, Animation, Sound/Voice Acting and Enjoyment. Please notice the lack of anything monetary that would involve sales or impact or Ratings that you previously posted. These don't make a series good, these are merely observations. |

Gatchaman with only 17k people completed with an average score of 7.56. Clearly the latter is overrated! The anime is terribly underrated, it should stand somewhere in the Top #250, but I never expected it to fall in 1200+. It's an anime that revives the hero genre in such a genius way, and Hajime is seriously one of the best MCs ever. The OST is just a killer. And the "childish" animation actually complements the unique style of the show. |

Hajime is my new favorite character. original poster is just completely butthurt that an old show he liked got revived in a way he didnt. and Moe trash? i hate Moe and this show was most certainly not. Positive? yes. Hopeful? yes. I have also not seen a show come from Japan that gives such a unique insight to the social and economic problems of humans and the world. I wish GALAX was real, this world needs the hope and inspiration to get off your ass and do some good in the world. Hey... wait.... that kind of also sounds like the motif behind the original Gatchaman.... hmmm... Perhaps if you watched the show more intently and with an open mind, you wouldnt have raged on the internet, spewing hateful, biased thoughts just like the problems this show was trying to address. |

FGAU1912's 11 main things he rates anime on represents everything i hate about the industry. why the fuck would you rate an anime based on merchandise sales? what a tool. impact on pop culture? tool. comparing it to a similar BIG name? tool. TV ratings, letting someone else tell you what you like? super tool! and really, i dont openly insult people much but you are the reason anime is becoming terrible. How about rating something on the Art direction, character design, dialogue, uniqueness, storyline... or maybe, just maybe... how it made you feel. |

It's interesting how you consider yourself a critic but have little to zero traces of intelligence that would give you a sliver of credibility. Your only beef with the show seems to be a random outburst that says nothing (this is a running motif, that's a word critics might use by the way so you should learn what it means in a storytelling sense) and then a random irrelevant comment about how many episodes each had, and how you can't possibly imagine how a show with 150 episodes can be rated worse than one with only 12...which sounds like the most infantile statement I've ever heard. No, actually I'm pretty sure a kid who hasn't even learned to count to 150 can tell that you're full of shit. Pretty sure the lack of basic grammar and spelling is also giving me new forms of mental illnesses. the point i made about the episode count is me comparing fact that that one had the TV ratings to last that 150 this one had bad ratings in compare that is all that line was about if a product is good enough to keep public interest for 150 epiosdes its must be at lest better tha one that falied ot keep public interest for 1/10 of that |

I tried hard to read what you wrote but I barely understood any of that. Ill try to comment on the parts I think I understood. When I said "todays world", I mostly meant where we are technologically as a modern world and the selfishness of people not wanting to do good without incentive. I wasnt referring to the anime industry or anything like that, and obviously since I'm American, i can only vouch for "todays world" from an American viewpoint. Also super sentai shows seem very tacky and way too old school for most westerners because it seems just too childish, at least with the group of 5 transforming to do good a la Power Rangers. The new Gatchaman does this well because it had the throwbacks to the old era on super sentai but making it modern and will probably do better overseas if it ever gets picked up over here. And of course Gundam makes more money than moe. Gundam is universal so that all age groups and enjoy and kids buy the crap out of it. Its like over here with Disney and Pixar movies that sell like crazy because everyone LOVES them and parents take kids to see it in theaters no matter what. Rated R movies intended for adults might end up being more groundbreaking when it comes to substance but they will never make Disney money. This however does not make them inferior because they made less money. You calling me bias is just showing the difference between our cultures, just like to me it seems you are being bias because of your intense love of the older culture surrounded by Gatchaman and super sentai. I get it, it sucks when something you loved changes drastically from the older source material but it happens all the time. A good example over here would be the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that is about to come out... they are completely changing it and it is pissing alot of people off. But they want to sell to the modern era, not the old one. Sometimes you just got to let go and accept the change with an open mind because our opinions wont change the direction these things go. |

1 im almost 30 and still watch sentai and if u go to the sentai muisc concest it is manly older teens there not perants taking there younger kids to the show 2 imyour age if not a bit older im 29 in july] were og the same genreration id would think 3 if Moe is to last like alot of people on MAL want it to it needs to start make clser to gundam or Toku money or its fad that will die or be confiend to smaller studios 4 there was a Kamen rider Move relsed inUS call kamen rider the 1st and a shot for shot reamke of tv show caled Ryuki[ Dragon Night] that won tv awards in the us 5 working at animage as i do i have the same deabtes with my coworkers as this but they say well anime need more internaion sucess to sutain then i direcet them to the top 50 anime here and then they im kinda right that ithe internatonal market is in the long run going to marginalize anime futher than it is becuase of the fact the big Network tv aired tv anime [ Japan are not Pupular here on Mal] and the one that are can and never will be mainstream cuase of the time of night there shown a here its not nostlgia over all its a oncern that all fans and some makers shpuld feel are some are feeling Hell bothn Tomino and Miyazaki have come out an attcked the amount of Otaku in the industry and how that is on fact harmfull to the greater well being of the industry ---------------------------- hence why i rate as i do that was the first thing you acctck me for |

I dont live in Japan so i believe you that it is popular with older ages. Im not saying I see it as childish either. Its just my personal opinion if more super sentai had more adult themes, I would watch more of them. 3: I dont know if you think I like Moe, but i dont care for it either. I dont see Moe as a genre like many on MAL do and im guessing people in Japan do too. I like drama's and romance and nothing wrong with a cutesy character but I view Moe shows as ones with all female casts where they are just doing silly cute girly stuff. I dont watch those anime at all! Im also on Miyazaki's side with his problem with industry. The reason why people attacked you is most likely because your earlier posts just sounded like rants and we couldnt understand what you were saying, then we look at your 11 main things you rate on and when we read it, it sounds crazy. Now you have explained yourself alot better and even though I dont agree with all your explanations, i understand better what you rate on. Only thing i would ask is that if you watch a show that isnt what you normally rate high, give it a fair chance and judge it by itself. Don't lump it with other stuff, like what studio does it, how much money it makes, or ratings. So as far as i'm concerned, we are all good. |
